Hi Beth. :) We both intuitively used similar criteria to change our wardrobes to compliment silver hair. I love the palette you chose because it: (a) includes a neutral palette (white/gray/black); (b) includes two additional colors (navys/blues & reds/pinks); (c) and specifically prevents your skin tone from looking washed out relative to your gorgeous silver hair. Maybe because my skin tone is olive, to prevent me from looking bluish in the face, I find my best neutrals are cool-toned browns, and my best colors are teals/greens, wine reds, and peachy oranges. I use mixed metals to good effect, focusing on mostly silver metals around the face. I really find it's attractive to wear clear colors, especially when the daylight is strong. On a different note: I just cut off the last of my dyed hair in May, and I LOVE the look. I'm doing my very best to be positive and brave about this, but it is very likely I will lose this gorgeous head of long hair in a few months to chemo. I'm doing my best to enjoy each day of having a full head of long silver hair that I patiently grew for two years. This is a hard lesson in non-attachment and letting go for me. 🦋🧡🦋

Please consider a wig. When I needed to wear a wig 2 years ago due to having hair loss due to illness, I was shocked at how gorgeous and realistic they are now. The technology is amazing. I wore the same as my natural white hair until it grew back. I actually enjoyed it. I’ve even continued to wear them when we have a night out. There are several really good wig reviewers on KZbin. Much love to you.💝💝

This is such an interesting approach, Beth. I’ve oftentimes felt limited in terms of defining my “style” so perhaps framing it around a color palette would feel more authentic. I’m going to give this some thought…thanks for the inspiration!

I've been sticking to a tight colour palette for years (in my case white/grey/black, blues and green). The are the colours I feel look best on me. Every time I would buy something in another colourway it would just languish in my closet! This year I've added natural linen (a very light cool beige) in pants and jacket and surprisingly I like it and wear it a lot. I guess it's an extension of the white to black neutrals. I have one pair of cognac shoes and one cognac bag, also wear those a lot with my colours. I don't plan on buying more cognac but would probably replace if when they get used up as I feel they coordinate well with my palette and give me a "lighter" for spring/summer / fall when black is too harsh. BTW, you look terrific in pink and that pant suit is beautiful!
@InfinitegardenbyBethK5 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! 💖💖 I love natural linen! I consider it an extension of the white/gray palette for sure. It’s been super easy to find this year, too. Cognac is a great solution to the brown problem (brown is lovely of course, just outside of what I’m normally wearing). I have some Cordovan belts and shoes but that hasn’t been a perfect solution for me either.

I have a similar palette and have found natural linen, a cool olive tone, and cognac accessories are great in the warmer months when black might feel to harsh. And I love mixing those earthy tones with black or white. It really gives me many more options without over-complicating things.

Hi Beth! So glad to find your channel again. Ive been doing somrthing similar, originally inspired by Hannah Louise Poston's video about her minimalist wardrobe and strict 2 colors in an outfit rule. I decided to try it and its been transformative for me. Helps with getting dressed immensely. I usually match my shoes.with my bag not bc youre supposed to but because it makes it easy and pretty much always looks put together :) im mostly grey at 38 but my coloring is softer than yours, even still ive been wearing black/ white/ taupe because i like the minimalism and usually when i add color its in accessories or in a graphic tee. Loved this vid! Would love to see the next one of how youre incorporating this info into styled outfits! ❤

I LOVE @hannalouiseposton and was inspired by her video as well. I realize now that I wrote that in my notes but did not credit her with that inspiration. I remember watching her video and wondering if I’d feel constrained, which made me want to try it. I’m so glad you’re here! I love you follow-up video suggestions and will take you up on that. 💖💖thank you.

I've had my colors done several times. In one system, I'm a True Summer and in the other a Jeweltone Summer. I have a very tight palette of soft white, denim, navy, purples and cool greens. There are other colors available in both my systems but these are the ones I prefer. It really does make it easy to coordinate outfits. I keep seeing so many ladies on YT with cognac accessories and those don't work for me, so I'm happy to see the blush and ivory that you use to lighten up accessories for summer. I've added a pale blue handbag and that's worked well for me. Your silver hair is gorgeous! I love that coral pantsuit on you too.

Hi Beth, One day I just started decluttering my closet and just kept my blues, reds and some white and black items. Yes, I did close enough to what you have done. And I agree. What colors suit you are what is in style for you. Also the items that suit your body are what is in style for you. It definitely makes getting dressed easier and you do feel better in your clothes. Thank you for this video. P.S. I also read somewhere that nobody really cares what you wear. You don't have to impress anyone, you dress for yourself.

Yes! Yes, you can! I am a Dark Winter, and I choose the same color palette you did - Blacks, Whites, Red/Pinks, and Blues. I am sure you are a Winter too. Your hair is gorgeous!! My favorites tend to be navy and dark reds or burgundy or maroon. I have 3 maroon/burgundy suits. I have a couple of green/camo items, but no other colors at all. I have hundreds of choices and do not feel limited in the slightest. I just chose the colors that I looked best in and loved! Great to hear you're on the same path!

I also have grown out my natural hair color (is now white). And I have just cleaned out my closet. I have the same 3 color palette and some green added in. I'm drawn to multi-color tops that have the same 3 colors compilations. I'm one not to wear solid tops. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one drawn to this color palette. I'm all white at 62. My hair color is inherited through my mother. I wear it proudly!

Our hair and skin coloring are virtually the same and I do something very similar, all the way to only having silver/cool toned hardware on my handbags. And also like you, I like the occasional green and I make sure to include some lilac in my blue tones. I have a couple of chocolate brown pieces in my wardrobe but I try to add a pop of color if I wear them (not often) or make sure to “up” my lip color. Enjoy your videos very much!

I have lots of videos about the process. 💖💖

Superior video! I didn't think about a palette before turning grey. My hair is a bit darker grey than yours, but our overall coloring is similar - I'm probably twice your size and age! I spent decades in the workplace wearing black to avoid comments (sadly, mostly from other women!) about what the boss was wearing. If I had it to do all over again, though, I think I would have opted for cool pink, bright blue, white, and black. Now I'm rocking my saturated orange linen pants!
@InfinitegardenbyBethK5 ай бұрын
ooooo, those orange linen pants sound super cute! I know what you mean about scrutiny in the workplace. I very much lean on my blacks and navys at work (and probably always will), but it has been so fun to bring these higher energy colors in. They suit my personality and give me life!

I agree that those colors look great on you and that many other colors would not. I feel like I am best off if I avoid wearing all the colors that look good on you (even black or white) and stick to greyed-out soft colors and tiny.prints - which would not work for you at all, I'm sure! So while I have not limited my wardrobe to three "color families," I think that I have eliminated from my wardrobe as many colors as you have, just more specific ones. Great video!
@InfinitegardenbyBethK5 ай бұрын
Love your take! You have such beautiful eyes-I’m sure the colors you have chosen bring out the soft color. 😍💖 And yes, I didn’t mention it but we all have different coloring and will like different colors. I probably should have said that so I appreciate the opportunity here.

These colours look great on you. I've practised this concept since the 1980s, when I learned the mantra of only wearing 3 colours (4 if 2 are black and white). My wardrobe is mostly black, charcoal and navy (I dye tired clothes navy) with added white for summer. I add one accent colour family per season - this summer, it's red/pink. My coloured items are also textured for more oomph. EG: my (only) bag is magenta saffiano leather, my summer cardi is magenta bouclé rayon crochet and my summer jacket is scarlet cotton waffle.

Wonderful comment!💖 your method is so inspiring. Slow and intentional. Your summer jacket sounds so cute!

I did the same thing when I went gray a few years ago. My color palette contains the exact same colors as yours. I, too, have a few random items like my green cargo pants. I started by wearing an accent color each month (like red in July and December) along with my neutral black, white and navy. I kept my neutrals in the closet and swapped out the accent color. I realized my accent colors were always red, pink, purple and blue. So, eventually, I just got rid of the odds and ends left in the guest closet that never got invited to the main closet.

Those are my colors too, and looking at my closet, that's pretty much all you see hanging there. I do use some brown, olive, beige as neutrals as well, it helps me get away from too much black. I think one great advantage is that it helps simplify accessories, like you mentioned. I also find silver suits me better than gold, and that further simplifies things.
