Hello... my system when activated in arming away mode at the end of the seconds it changes to arming stay... the motion sensor indicates movement while the system is deactivated... if I activate the system it does not indicate movement... any suggestions?

I've had Vivint for a week now. It's great! I do understand alot of people will try out the nest but it's not necessary. I was an HVAC technician and I have my HVAC license. Letting your house warm up while you are not at home and then trying to get your AC to cool it off before you get home is actually running your AC unit just as hard if your just let it run at a constant temp. Your AC will have to work just as hard as it did to drop the temp 5 or 6 degrees as it did just to keep up with the temp you had set for the whole day.

The option we went with if we were to be gone for awhile is the temperature drop in our home which does not require a new thermostat and will detect if your furnace goes out while you are gone. Which is more likely to cause you more problems if pipes were to freeze... At least where I live.

@@hmmmyuup3669 , You can do the same thing with ANY "Smart" thermostat! Do you really think Vivint invented the wheel here???? Over the course of 5years you can buy 10 or more Nest thermostats or more for the less expensive one's that will do the same thing with Vivint's prices and contracts. Glad you feel your getting a 'deal' with what you pay a month, year, 5years, 10 years. Did you ever do the math as to how much this costs you? Many people do not look that far ahead and actually do not the math and realize they been getting ripped off. ADT is a valid example. You pay for the NAME but not the service or quality of service. Kinda like buying a pair of Nike's it's no better than any other shoe but you pay for the NAME.

Its going to use more energy to bring you house back up to temp if you shut it down for the day if not more to try and get your house back up to temp. Your ac will run all night long without getting to a comfortable setting of you shut it off all day. It's better to let it run all day at the temp you want it to... On the other hand this system is great because unlike some other systems it will not tell you if your house is getting to cold or if there's smoke or if someone broke in. They have a data base where someone is watching for alarms all day and night. The system first connects to the board in your home about these alarms. If you don't access the board in time it calls your personal number when that fails it calls local authorities. Alot of the systems like the ring will not go to that extent. They will notify you but you have to manually notify the local authorities on your own.

@@hmmmyuup3669 , You are misinformed. Ring and other systems WILL call the proper service if you fail to answer the call they provide (within 15-20seconds BTW). I also get an insurance discount with my system. Other systems also provide feedback as to temperatures and freeze warnings. Not true what you say! With MANY systems if there is a CO2 alert they will not even call you and call rescue first with 24/7 monitoring. Just saying, you have not done any research to what's available at a much lower cost. You stated after 5years you own the equipment - does this still cover FREE upgrades? Don't think so. I own everything upfront and NO CONTRACTS and no add-on fees for WAY less that what you have paid. Not trying to pick a fight as I said if YOU are happy paying the rate you pay that other systems offer for way less than good for you. You are misinformed with what today's systems have to offer. You never mentioned what the 'tech' guy costs per visit either. I'm guessing a minimum of $100 per visit. I had ADT and they do the same thing - RIP YOU OFF. They tell you "they are the best there is" but in today's world that really is not the case. Can you at least change out batteries in devices that run low or does that too require a "tech" guy visit at added cost? After 5years you 'own' the equipment that is out-of-date and obsolete where you will need to rent-to-own new devices and pay a 'tech' guy to come out and install where I can upgrade and install at will with no intervention at my own cost whenever I want vs. your contract?

That’s a motion detector so the panel can turn on when it detects you in front of it. It’s not a camera.

But at what cost? I do the same thing but I am NOT paying $40+ to do it. To add something to the system - how much does it cost you for a 'tech' guy to come out and install it? What is the device cost vs. other systems out there? Bound to a contract? Still paying a monthly fee for the initial system costs? My only experience with 'tech" guys was ADT and they charged $75-120 PLUS the cost of the device (That was over 7 years ago before I dumped them like a bad crack habit!). Another factor is no matter how much you pay for 24/7 monitoring it's only going to be as good as the response times for police and fire to reach your home in your area! If your looking at a 5min+ response time crooks will be long gone and you will sustain much damage from a fire before your monitoring system alerts the proper service. SO, that being said do you really need to pay that much a month that other systems can provide at a WAY lesser cost for the exact same service???? Crooks will linger for maybe 2minutes if an alarm sounds and be gone. If there is NO alarm they will casually take their time and further rape your possessions from you.

I keep a key in my wallet but I too have not used it. I use custom rules to arm my system when lock button is pressed on the outside keypad and another rule to disarm it when I use code outside too. Another custom rule I use it to capture on all cameras when any door is opened. I love the custom rule to notify me if a lock has failed to lock. Ahhh, the lazy life via Vivint & Alexa :)

@@lisarobinson3521 , Everyone has their own opinion! I'll just tell you why I choose Ring. It's a DYI setup requiring NO additional costs to add to the system as you go as opposed to Vivint, ADT. I just upgraded to the Ring Pro base station which has a WiFi router built in and works with the cellular backup so your wireless cameras stay online if your ISP fails or is under maintenance. The cost of added sensors is also LESS than ADT, Vivint and not having to pay extra to have someone come and set it up! Lastly the total yearly cost with the Pro option for me is $200! Way cheaper for 24/7 professional monitoring with cellular backup and now added WiFi. ADT, Vivint, Abode are all rather expensive per month and added costs which charge close to $50 a month for the same features. I've had Ring for almost 2yrs and works great and now have even more with the Pro upgrade! Hope this helps someone to decide.

The vivint App becomes useless anytime you cancel your service with vivint. I have had vivint for 7yrs and only recently canceled what I consider unnecessary money wasting with two large dogs in my house. Vivint made it such that the app can no longer be accessed. I understand I should not have access to support if there is a burglary problem or fire but not being able to use the app to see my front door camera is unacceptable. I mean the equipment are mine not Vivint’s

I was hoping you might know the answer to these questions : if we have 3 to 4 cameras from this system, can this system record 24/7 without gaps? We currently have a system that records for 30 seconds and buffers for three minutes so we tend to miss things that should be recorded. How long can this system store video? Is it a 15 day or seven day for example? Also do you know what is the minimum upload and download speed needed from our Internet provider for the cameras of this system to work properly? Hi, I’m actually a security consultant with Vivint. If you get the smart drive with your system the cameras record 24/7 with 30 days of storage on the device, so if you need to go back and look at any specific time you can scrub to the exact time and view. There is a minimal speed needed it’s not unreasonable and most homes have adequate speed from there provider…. Our job is to save the customer money, and not sell you things you don’t need.

I have sensors on all my downstairs doors and windows . When I set my alarm they all engage. I don’t think you can set each individual sensor . On my system it’s either armed ( all sensors) or unarmed.

A constant problem I’m having is the door lock batteries. When the tech comes out for what ever reason I have him change the batteries and they last for a long time but it never fails, every single time I change them the batteries die within a week . I have tried every single battery on the market and they die within a week or so. Is there a technic to changing out these batteries? I have had this system for over 3 years and I’m tired of this battery situation. The system overall is fantastic. Does what it’s supposed to do. I just want my batteries to last longer . They won’t come al the way out to just change the batteries.

How much does a 'tech' guy cost you per visit? MANY DIY systems you can change the batteries whenever you like and the cost of the batteries can be had pretty cheap on Amazon without any additional cost. These DIY systems also offer 24/7 monitoring, smoke, CO2, glass breakage, Motion (with pet friendly sensors up to 70Lbs), water leakage, temperature, humidity, cameras, cellular backup, as well as doors/windows. Changing the batteries in these devices takes less than 30sec. and you do NOT need to contact anyone to do it! At $40+ a month Vivint is WAY too expensive for my security needs and having to pay a 'tech' guy to come out on every hiccup. Do the math as to what you pay over the course of 5yrs, 10yrs vs. other options out there and add up the savings to your wallet. Also, with DIY systems you can add whatever you want whenever you want with only the cost of the device itself with no additional charges. P.S. my smart locks have been up and running almost 2yrs on the 1st set off batteries showing 100% and installed it all myself. All my other sensors have a 3yr battery life. All with NO contracts and a very robust starter system was only $450 up front costs which of course I added to little by little over time. You are paying too much!

@@johnszatkowski6898 in the long term Vivint is the better option, simplisafe is awesome don’t get me wrong but technology is constantly getting better, let’s say you buy the simplisafe doorbell camera after couple years it gets old and you would need to go out of pocket again for equipment, while with Vivint upgrades are part of the lifetime warranty on equipment. Simplisafe also runs completely off the WiFi, so god forbid if the WiFi does go down while you are sleeping or away , what you just paid for might not work for the 1 time you need it , the vivint smart hub is completely cellular so no matter what happens around the house everything stays connected to the hub.

@@23FIFABOY , As far as internet goes, how do Vivint's cameras connect if the internet goes down? Do they still function and record over cellular?? SimplySafe and many others do not run "completely' off the internet and also have cellular backup and will still alert you of a break-in with no internet connection and notify the police/fire. As far as lifetime upgrades - what you pay over the cost of a year(s) they can still afford to upgrade your camera and STILL make money every couple of years. With Ring for example they offer lifetime replacement of equipment but not upgrade. I never read that about Vivint regarding FREE upgrades and does not seem likely but of course a service "tech" has to come out to upgrade your equipment at a cost as well. How long does it take a "tech" guy to get out to your home if a problem is occurring once you scheduled an appointment? When I had ADT it used to take 7-10 days for a person to come out and I'm a heavily populated area. If you have a major problem with your system 7-10 days is a long time to wait for repair and a possible major security risk. The bottom line is if your happy with the services you get for the prices you pay then that's all that matters. I'm only saying that there are other options out there that are much less expensive over the course of say 5-6years and without contracts that charge BIG-TIME if you break it. As far as cameras does Vivint have access to your camera(s) footage to assess a possible break-in? Is that not a possible invasion of your privacy if anyone at Vivint can view your camera(s) at anytime? Some systems can disable a camera(s) if your home to prevent such a thing happening. What I do when I am home is my business and nobody needs to see/listen to what's going on and should be the case with any security system. May want to look into that. I know MANY people paranoid about having a Google home hub or an Alexa product but totally ignore their security system that you signed a contract with which you agree to all terms on conditions of said system. You'd be amazed about some products "terms and conditions". I do not know about Vivint but you may want to read the "fine" print as they say as to what exactly you signed up for and what privacy you may have compromised.

I work for Vivint, those are not compatible. With your detectors we use a little monitor to listen for the smoke or CO to go off. The google nest thermostat is compatible.

You gotta remember your on a 24/7 cell service with people on at a monitoring call center 24/7 and to also be getting 24/7 playback feed on your cameras? The monthly is totally worth it. If you didn’t have cameras that service fee would be below 30$ iv closed out work orders as low as 10$ a month. And before you say competitors do it better we’ll try again the company manufactures 4K playback on the cameras. Our company is definitely worth it to most. I have personally taken down 100’s of ADT equipment, simplified equipment, Honeywell, and Ackerman. You live in a smaller world my friend because you should see the bright smiles on the customers faces when they switch to us and realize how good we are. No other company does smart features the way we do.

Vivint is probably the best in market for professional install systems but their system is proprietary where once you cancel, these equipment do not work with anyone else. Basically, you’re stuck with Vivint’s subscription model until you quit having a home security system entirely or quit and switch to another system which then the Vivint equipment is a sunk cost. This is what prevented me from going with Vivint. It’s a “forever” subscription until you get out of their ecosystem and once you’re out, Vivint equipment is useless.

@@scaneagle62 to be fair, not all of these reviews are legit. I've found the best way to get an honest review is to talk with someone that owns the system and have a conversation about it. Not always easy to do, but it's worth the time and energy. There is way too much mud slinging on here, much of it is purchased by the competing alarm companies.

Hi there! Do Vivint alerts/alarms register on your home router? I know the security panel shows IP renewal on a home router. If you receive a doorbell alert or if an alarm is triggered you will get a notification on your smartphone. Will those alerts and alarms log on your router as well? Thank you!

Your alerts will be alerted via your app or your smart panel you will see the recording. As far as the router goes it logs ip and thats you have set that up based on your router.

There is setting on the panel that you can control for the camera meaning you can put the sensitivity up really high for your cameras so it will catch anything in motion

Still trash, you can go on amazon and buy a 10-12 camera security system with a 2tb nas hard drive for around $300(many of which work similar ring doorbell systems) and it catches everything. You can go back through if you need to find what the Vivint system didn’t think was relevant. Best part you’re not locked into a crappy 5-year plan.

Vivint lied to me as well. Installers were breaking into homes they just installed on. $1700 to cancel and break contract they told me I had 30 days then try to fix your equipment but schedule and reschedule till your 30 days is up.

I know your corny is old but. Vivint has a weight option somewhere between 20-55lbs for motion sensors. If they are above 55 lbs then I wouldn't recommend a motion

That is a crooked company be careful sensors will fail , cause false triggers , if your away Police will show and guess what your still liable for any fees . They will start telling you to do upgrades on system “ that’s there excuse” it’s temporary .. door works on motor that locks up Winter or summer .. customer service is very poor . They Do not honor the ceo promise . Bbb have poor rating was sued before for false practices , camera lags even with fiber internet . Notification delayed on motion and camera . I am saying this as a 4 yr customer leaving and getting simplisafe / ring . Pay monthly monitoring around 10-20 dollars from police , buy equipment from Amazon , no contract no stress and no excuses , no ripping off

Thing with ring and the other products you actually have to log on to catch something recording and the Amazon equipment still causes a lag as well I know this cause I once made the mistake and purchased it for my mother but instantly took back on how bad it was. Plus they are getting sued for being hacked into, Vivint by far has the best security protection against all security. You get a bigger bank for your buck.

We have Vivint. It doesn't pick up animals/pets. The smart camera does pick up people lingering for a specific amount of time. If you are going to be enjoying that area, you can turn the notification off.

Theres some good Ring vs Vivint videos. What stands out to me is the Ring is wifi based and Vivint uses wifi but Zwave connections to the panel keep it snappy and less laggy. Also it has a 180 degree view compared to Ring and also has anti package theft technology.

@@gina9078 the Vivint Cam can recognize a package has been delivered using proprietary technology. The customer will get notified it has been delivered and will see an image of the package sitting there on the porch. Then on the app it will automatically ask the customer is they want to have the package protected. If they say “yes”, then someone stealing the package will hear audible whistles and the camera starts talking saying they are being recorded. In addition, a recording of the event and notification occurs simultaneously through the app. Hope that helps!

So, as an Vivint owner for one year now, HERE IS THE REAL REVIEW. First, everything he says about the system is true, BUT here are the SERIOUS disadvantages and WHY I AM MOVING WITHOUT MY VIVINT SYSTEM that I paid in full for. Second, the HD and 4K cameras are VERY mediocre quality, they are B&W at night, not color, unless your yard is spot flooded with 5500k lighting. The cameras use IR technology which causes license plates to glow so forget about for any reason. Third, the motion detection is so easy to defeat, all you have to do is walk fast or run and THEY WON'T DETECT ANYTHING. Fourth, at 1:30 of this video the camera shown is HORRIBLE. It has an extremely poor frame rate and even with STUDIO lighting the color is poor. I believe it uses pixel shifting to create an upscale 1080 rez from a 480 chip. It is located with line sight less that 20 feet from the Hub. The pic that Vivint shows regarding this cam on their ad is pure false advertising. Fifth, the DOORBELL IS slow and often does not work fast enough. It is actually the best camera but it is TOO SLOW to react. I bought this system following sponsored reviews like this one. I live with 400 feet of a major cell tower, yet it says my WI-FI connection is weak. Finally, I called Vivint to complain and their customer service said everything is working fine. I think they STINK!
