This video is a review of the Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f/2.8-4.0 lens for Nikon F-mount cameras. This is the 3rd generation of this lens and was made by Komine for Vivitar. This lens was very expensive in its day and is very inexpensive today. It covers a full-frame since it was made for film and it's one of the least costly ways to keep a "fast" zoom lens. Technically this lens was considered a "varifocal" lens but that makes no real difference to the end user except that it was supposed to be better than a zoom lens. This lens is manual focus using a push pull method. Its total length is 155mm and doesn't change at different focal lengths. It's a fairly heavy lens at 859 grams, however it's a solid piece of nice glass!! Most of the time I only switch to this lens when I want to longer focal lengths or the faster aperture, so most of my example photos are at wider apertures, but I give examples at more narrow ones as well. I'm sure there are some things I missed, but I'm a practical person and want to convey the most important points and how they affect you as a photographer. There are some really good resources online about these lenses and make sure you correctly identify a lens you are consider purchasing as there are quite a few lenses branded as Vivitar Series 1 and many of them are not as good as this one (from what I've read). There is a really good webpage to help aid in identification and they provide some more in-depth info at www.robertstec... .
