Within a healthy eye is a clear lens. As we become older, that lens becomes cloudy. The cloudy lens is called a Cataract. In cataract surgery, the cloudy lens is removed and replaced with a clear artificial lens implant (IOL).
There are many types of IOL's, including those that treat presbyopia in order to reduce dependence on reading glasses. Multifocals historically provided the strongest reading vision, but they are associated with dysphotopsias such as halos, glare, and starbursts at night. In order to reduce dysphotopsias, extended depth of focus lenses came out such as the Vivity and Symfony IOL's. They provide some mid-range/intermediate reading vision with less severe dysphotopsias at night. The Vivity lens has a more favorable night time profile than the Symfony, so it has gained popularity. Now, the Clearview multifocal IOL is available and has an impressive night time dysphotopsia profile, and stronger reading vision that the Vivity and Symfony. In this case, a patient has the Vivity in one eye, and the Clearview in the other. He shares his experience and lets us know which lens he likes better.

Agree we need real life input from patients with this lens regarding night driving and contrast.

Surprising that the gentleman did not demand an explant of the Vivity and replacement with the Clearview 3.

I'm very interested in the night\dusk profile, as well as the reduced dysphotopsias is the low light contrast any better than "standard" trifocal lenses, would really love to see more real life patient feedback of this lens. Thanks for posting.

Clear View seems to be a Game Changer 👍

It has been on the market in Europe for many many years. Most doctors have other trifocals as their number one choice so I doubt it.

How is the Clearview 3 looking at mid range like a computer monitor just beyond arms' length? Thank you

What about the Tecnis PureSee, could it be a good alternative to the Vivity ? Is it worth waiting for ?

thank you! More of this please. I'd love to get a comparison between the Clearview and the relatively new (as of July 2022) Lenstec SBL-3

Could you do a procedure to correct astigmatism and then do Clearview 3 IOL?
@DoctorKrad
@DoctorKrad 3 ай бұрын
Yes, Implanting the Clearview 3 can be paired with another procedure to treat the residual astigmatism. LRI's can be performed at the same time, or if the astigmatism is more severe, laser correction can be performed after the eye has stabilized after the initial surgery

Hi thanks for videos, helps a lot! One question, is the VIVITY lens in the video yellow tinted (blue light fllter) or is it clear? Is it ok to mix clearview-3 in one eye with yellow tinted VIVITY in the other? My wife is going to implant VIVITY yellow tinted in dominant eye and the plan was to implant PANOPTIX in other eye if near range not acceptable, but am considering Clearview 3 as the better option in that case, agree?Thanks!

This patient has the clear version of the Vivity. Both the PanOptix and Vivity are available as either clear or yellow tinted versions. Clearview is only available in a clear version. If you are considering mixing the Vivity with Clearview, try to get the clear Vivity if possible. If you have one yellow, and the other clear, you may notice a slight temperature difference in colors. The difference is subtle, but it may be noticeable.

@@DoctorKrad thanks for the feedback! Myself have panoptix yellow tint in one eye and natural lens in other ete, when I close one eye I can see a slightly difference in color , but does not give me any unbalance when both are open, Everything looks normal.

Too bad he's underwhelmed by the Vivity. Can't help but wonder if he wants it exchanged for the Clearview assuming it's not a toric Vivity.

The other question is the blue for both far and on the light test because of the refractory error that was later corrected. If so is this really the best comparison?

For the Clreaview 3 would a +2.50 presbyopia be a good candidate?
@DoctorKrad
@DoctorKrad 2 ай бұрын
A +2.50 hyperopic presbyope should notice a HUGE improvement of vision with the Clearview so long as you have a regular cornea, an otherwise healthy eye, and your Surgeon centers it appropriately

It is possible to have residual refractive error after any eye surgery. Unfortunately we are not machinists, working on metal.
@DoctorKrad
@DoctorKrad 2 ай бұрын
Yes of course. In fact, most patients have a residual refractive error. The goal is to make it as small as possible
