I’ve been wearing these every day for a month. They are my new favorite walking shoe. The ground feel is amazing. The soft leather wraps around the foot like a glove and, unlike the synthetic materials in the primus lite iii, does not smell at all. Given the thin 3 mm sole, I’d argue that it’s more important to walk with a forefoot strike, but reasonable minds can disagree.
@OwenJackson
@OwenJackson 3 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching Elie, I’m thrilled to hear you love the design as much as I do. What other barefoot shoes have you tried? Great to hear your thoughts on locomotion. When it comes to walking, a heel strike is generally recommended because it allows us to roll from heel to forefoot, making the movement smoother and more efficient at lower speeds. However, as the pace increases from a jog to a sprint, transitioning to a midfoot or forefoot strike becomes more effective. midfoot and forefoot strikes can improve running efficiency by better utilising the muscles and tendons for shock absorption and propulsion. Adapting your strike pattern to your speed can enhance performance and comfort, aligning with the natural biomechanics of human locomotion. Thanks for watching and connecting 💚 🦶🏻 happy barefoot adventures.

Oh, man. It’s a long list. I’ve tried a number of shoes from Vivobarefoot, Wildlings, Origo, Merrell, Vibram, Xeroa and others. Vivobarefoot and Wildlings are my favorite brands. Xero is solid but don’t like the aesthetics, and I prefer wider shoes with thinner soles. Origo is too narrow for me.

I loved these shoes so much I bought those green suede one and a pair of the brown leather. Unfortunately there was a fault in that every step made the kind of noise a flip flop would but only on the right shoe. It was not a loose fit, and I tried tightening the laces, the problem persisted. I got a refund for the green ones and decided to try a replacement for the brown leather ones. Not only did the replacement have the same issue there was a considerable gash/cut in the leather on the back panel next to but not on the stitching. How quality control missed that I dont know. I have seen another video review of the shoes and the guy also talked about the noise they make, I think he just lives with it. The company were fine and efficient about the refunds. I am just disappointed because I really like the shoes, but dont want to have to wear ear plugs, or have others looking at my feet wondering about the noise.

@@OwenJackson Thanks for your response. I may take another gamble on the Sensus down the line in the hope that I get a normal pair. I have the Primus Lite III and they are ok. I bough my very first barefoot shoes in around 2010 0r 2011 they were New Balance Minimus, fantastic shoes with a light mesh. Over the following decade I probably bought around 10 pairs of them, all different colours. They were wonderful, very comfortable and I used to wear them casually as well as for running. Sadly they no longer make it, or the current version is nothing like the former. I am presently waiting for delivery of Wildling Nebula shoes.

Would these be ok to wear in the city, specifically to walk long distances on asphalt?
@OwenJackson
@OwenJackson 4 ай бұрын
Hey Cat! These shoes are fantastic for keeping that barefoot connection, especially in the city. While they offer incredible ground feel, it's worth noting that the ultra-thin sole might lead to a slight trade-off in long-term durability. However, this is a trade-off that's typical given the focus on maximising ground feel. For city use, also consider something like the Gobi iii: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5qzo6ewp6qWl9U or Gobi boot: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpq2pZRvgcxkmtU the Sensus really is unique in its design and feel. Thanks for your question! While I haven't personally experienced humid climates, the product's design includes perforations for extra breathability, which could be advantageous in such conditions. Based on my testing in the UK, they've offered comfort and breathability, which might translate well for you too. If you're considering purchasing, now is a great time! In my personal experience, I've found that the Sensus shoes offer a comfortable fit, despite my relatively wide feet for their size. While individual preferences and foot shapes vary, I've particularly appreciated the shape of the shoes and the softness of the leather, both of which have contributed to a comfortable wearing experience for me. Ultimately, everyone's feet are unique, but I've personally found Vivobarefoot's design and materials to be quite accommodating and pleasant. Additionally, Vivo offers a 100-day returns policy, providing flexibility if adjustments are needed. All the best on your barefoot adventures ✌️

Hello! I'm from brazil, a hot country and I saw that you had the Primus Lite, Primus knit and this Sensus, which one you think would be the best for hot climate+overall? I'll be buying one of them
@OwenJackson
@OwenJackson 5 ай бұрын
thanks for watching, I don't have direct experience of Brazils beautiful climate but here are my thoughts: In a hot climate like Brazil, it's essential to prioritise breathability, flexibility, and comfort. Each of the options you mentioned-Primus Lite, Primus Knit, and Sensus-have unique features that cater to different preferences and needs. Primus Lite: This shoe is known for its lightweight design and excellent breathability. The mesh upper allows for maximum airflow, keeping your feet cool and comfortable even in hot weather. The thin sole provides flexibility and a barefoot feel, which is ideal for natural movement. Primus Knit: The Primus Knit combines breathability with a snug fit. The knit upper provides a sock-like feel, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit while allowing air circulation. This shoe is versatile and suitable for various activities, offering both breathability and flexibility. Sensus: The Sensus model focuses on providing a sensory experience, with a wide toe box and thin sole to allow for natural movement and feedback from the ground. While it may not have as much ventilation as the Primus Lite or Primus Knit, its minimalist design still allows for some airflow, and its emphasis on sensory feedback can enhance comfort in hot conditions. Ultimately, the best choice for you depends on your specific preferences and priorities. If breathability is your primary concern, the Primus Lite might be the top choice due to its mesh upper. However, if you value a snug fit or sensory feedback, the Primus Knit or Sensus could also be excellent options. Consider trying on each model if possible to see which one feels most comfortable and suitable for your needs in a hot climate. And with a 100 day trial period you have security in your decision should you need to change hope that helps and let me know what you decide ✌️😀

I've had the primus lite for 1.5 year its my favorite shoe and i wore it indonesia it was really nice with mesh upper but there is a thin insole and it can stink if ur not wearing socks. im considering getting sensus because it offers better protection to things that would otherwise get in the mesh of the lite. the mesh wore out and i have a small hole in the toe area on both of my primus lites that happened about 1 year in.@@jpucaval but ultimately the comfort around the top of your foot and ankle is what makes or breaks a shoe for me and the primus lite is bar none the most comfortable shoe Ive wore socks or not. I have no idea how the sensus feels on foot

@OwenJackson
@OwenJackson 5 ай бұрын
Hey @mofmanp8874 , thanks for watching and commenting. Choosing the right footwear can be quite individualised, dependent on your specific needs and the terrain you'll be navigating. Could you share where you're located and the challenges your spring/summer shoes will need to overcome? Personally, I'm a big advocate for the Magna range. The Magna Lite is fantastic for summer hikes. You can check out a detailed review in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmetaImfn5yCnZo For more extreme terrain, I highly recommend the TRACKER ESC. Despite its rugged build, it surprisingly offers some breathability. You can find out more about it in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipmQfWd7g7WWgNU The SENSUS feel amazing. They offer a fantastic feel and connection while being versatile enough to cover various occasions. Definitely one to consider. Bridging the divide between formal attire and leisurewear seamlessly I've been fortunate to be part of the Vivobiome trial, and the Gen 2 shoes, with their knitted upper and superb fit, have been a game-changer for me and i think their qualities will lend themselves well to spring / summer. You can check out my experience with my custom 3D printed VivoBarefoot shoes in this video, although not available just yet, their technology should become more readily available in the not too distant future: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJ25dp2BnLmpaNE They have given a lot of competition to my current favourite, the The Primus Lite. As the sun begins to peek through the clouds here in the UK (in between rain showers!), I'll be dusting off my sandals soon. There's nothing quite like the sensation of feeling the breeze between your toes. Stay tuned for more content on sandals, including a feature on a UK-based, handmade sandal maker with an exceptional product. What's on your barefoot shortlist? Apologies for the essay, hope there is something useful in there 😃🤙

Hey James, in my experience, the sizing of these shoes aligns well with my usual sizing in Vivo's. I typically opt for going completely barefoot or wearing low-cut socks to try and mitigate any odour buildup. Been wearing vivobarefoot for years and these look like trash. I mainly wear primus trail 2’s which I’ve found to be the most reliable and comfortable vivo. These senus shoes don’t look good and I can tell just by looking at them that they’re not comfortable. No structure, flimsy material and they don’t crease well when you walk. That’s the problem with vivo, they don’t consider the crease points of the shoe when a step bends the shoe. The primus shoes are good because it’s more of a mesh and she shoe has structure. I can tell that these will crease in an inconsistent way, likely will be loud and squeaky when walking and overall they don’t adhere to your feet. This is an honest comment coming from someone who loves vivo and barefoot shoes who has used vivo for years and have returned many types of their shoes for being so uncomfortable.

Thanks for watching and being part of the conversation. I understand that personal preference plays a big role in how we feel about shoes. I’ve found the Sensus to be comfortable and really enjoy their novel design. I recently spent a long day in London, carrying heavy camera equipment and walking over 20k steps, and the Sensus provided great feel and connection, even in the busy, warm urban environment. I appreciate their natural properties and craftsmanship and didn’t experience any of the issues you mentioned. They've been a great shoe for smart-casual wear when I don't want 'sporty' looking footwear. The Primus Trail is definitely a great all-around shoe. What features do you prioritise most when choosing barefoot shoes?

Admittedly a while back I think they had a bit of a problem with the glue and the edges of the soles where they joined the uppers would start to de-laminate sort ot thing and come unstuck, just a few mm though and I never had a pair where it became a problem, it was more aesthetics than anything. I'll happily admit at the time I wasn't happy as as you mention, they've never been cheap. The last few years though I think they've got to grips with it, I have several pairs now and I've not had a problem with any I've bought in probably the last few years. I have a pair of the Trail FG's that are a couple of years old, I wear pretty much every day and have taken a hammering on rocky cliffpaths etc and trails where I live and they don't even look visibly worn. I just bought a pair of the Tracker ESC boots recently too (Thanks for the review Owen!) and they're holding up great. Not blowing Vivo's trumpet, but I'm a ex-powelifter/rugby player gone-to-seed type and currently the wrong side of 26 stone. If they're durable enough for my fat arse, I'm sure the rest of you racing snake types will be fine. 😅👍

Which model did you get? I had only good experiences so far and bought 5 pairs of different models in a year for this different purposes. Just had one QA issue with a gobi with excess material in the sole but it was hassle free exchanged. Otherwise its just sizing issues that cause tear quicker than they should. I had toes tear holes in my primus lite after 3 months but I exchanged for size larger (hassle free again) and they are still intact after 10 months this time.
