Hi Evan, I am studying exercise science and I had no idea how scientific it is getting. When you first started at university learning this stuff, did you find it overwhelming at first and did it all start to click for you at a certain time? Also thank you for your wonderful video, they are extremely helpful.

There is a lot to it. No one is capable of knowing everything in a field this large. I am still learning every day. If you intend to be a practitioner of exercise science you will just need to know your narrow slice of the field well. It will likely take some on the job training before you feel confident.

Your description on RT and weight loss is very similar to how I describe muscle quality verse muscle mass. MQ is improved through weight loss environments (larger output and marginal decreases with intake) while raising RMR equates to more lean mass (kg). Bravo.

Why dont we consider lean mass or body fat while calculating maintenance calorie as muscle uses more n fat uses less calorie
@VivoPhys3 жыл бұрын
Hi NO INTRO. Good question. Some formulas do account for this. Here is one Resting Daily Energy Expenditure (kCal) = 370 + 21.6 (FFM, kg) (Source: Exercise Physiology, Nutrition, Energy, and Human Performance, Seventh Edition- William D. McArdle) However, many people do not know their body composition, and it is often too difficult or time consuming to determine. So most formula's do not account for body composition directly and instead use for body mass, height, and age. See these videos for examples: Basal and Total Metabolic Rate - Harris Benedict Equations Example kzbin.info/www/bejne/boellomkocSChM0 Basal and Total Metabolic Rate - Mifflin St. Jeor Equations Example kzbin.info/www/bejne/joqYZ2Oloq-XZrc

@@VivoPhysmy ffm is 68 kg nearly and my body weight is 98 kg nearly well it is very rough as i weighted my self 5 months ago cant weigh myself as i have no weighing machine with me that time my weight was 100 on avg as some day it goes to 101 102 99 as water weight an all i have good muscles also well can not see cuts as fat comes to skin but i know fat is much and at that time my fat percent was 33 i started working out mostly weight lifting and in calorie deficit so i dont lose my muscle one month a ago after seeing some changes and getting little compliments i measured my self again and 30 percent body fat but becoz of no weighing machine i just took 98 97 kg of me to calculate fat i gained some muscles or maybe i m seeing them becoz of little fat losed but this process is becoming very slow so i needed my calorie requirement while considering my fat percentage and lean mass i know ur first thought will be no weighing machine no calorie requirement can be counted i agree
