Do you have to subscribe to a monthly cloud/service? Or do you get the option of just utilizing the SD card?

You don’t have to. Mini SD card works fine, or just get the alerts through the app.

Why the camera doesn't follow a person?, I just bought one and I like it but it doesn't follow motions or people, I'm about to return it 😕

That’s a really clever idea for enhancement. We have our scope so wide on ours for the area we are monitoring so it doesn’t really impact us. But motion tracking versus motion detecting would be great. We have a Ring flood light and it doesn’t even do that. I like the suggestion!
