Like, people who tend to enjoy scary or brutal movies, games, shows, etc tend to be really wholesome and nice while people who like more wholesome stuff tend to not be such nice people (at least what I've seen).

@@Muir97 I saw Junji Ito's stories, his drawings are interesting but not scary for me. On the other hand, I was reading a spinoff called REIGEN (Mob Psycho 100) and in chapter 3 there was a legit jumpscare - I know it won't scare everyone but when I was scrolling through the pages, this moment visually was really effective, I got sweaty hands, faster heartbeat and stuff like while watching a real horror movie. And this story is not a horror at all. I guess if I totally don't expect to see smth scary, then a drawing can really scare me. When I read Junji Ito, I just know that smth horrible will happen so I'm kinda prepared for everything.

Junji Ito's drawings can be uncanny too but they don't awake legit fear in me. This is just my personal opinion, no need to be so deeply offended by it. I'm not saying that Junji Ito sucks.

I don’t read manga very often but when I do it’s exclusively works by Ito. And once I start one I find it extremely difficult to put down (metaphorically; I read them online lol). His personality seems so lovely too. It’s funny, you wouldn’t imagine this man to be the mastermind behind so many twisted stories and illustrations. I love it

SH is a slow burning metaphysical nightmare while hirojo’s content is a thriller with existential dread. Unless Hirojo is able to dive deep into the existential side of his works, people are going to call it a cheap knockoff of Silent Hill.
