Forcing an artist like this to work digitally when he wants to work on paper is a crime.
@milkgxng3 жыл бұрын
What can you do. When he's done drawing digitally it's ready to print in 2 seconds. When he's done drawing traditionally he needs to scan it, etc etc etc. I love traditional as well but it's just 1 more step to an already long process these days. (Obviously there's a lot of cases where its used and still used and still predominant but in manga business no way jose. Not if you're serialized. (unless you're ahead of schedule) but since Ito is a perfectionist, he could spend hours on one page if he didn't get himself to move on.
@waction073 жыл бұрын
@@milkgxng I understand it's necessary and I understand why he has to switch over to a digital format to keep up. I just hope that his level of detail doesn't eventually start to suffer as his deadlines become shorter.

They’re very simplistic compared to the rest of his art. There is a rule in cartooning that the more simplified a character is in design, the more they audience will project themselves onto that character. This is why many sunday paper comic strips have such simplistic characters! Ito’s use of simplistic design amongst heavy detail naturally draws the eye and creates an effect that haunts the viewer!

You don't need to sketch if you've mastered composition and if you've already envisioned what you want to draw beforehand. this is a fairly simple drawing. as for doing a manga, that's a whole other process - from what I know there's the story board and a few other details which typically requires a sketch first. I truly hope that more people check out Kazuo Umezu's "The Drifting Classroom" at Ito-san's recommendation, it truly is a fantastic manga! To quote Umezu-san: "As the title suggests, The Drifting Classroom is just that-a place to study. The children apply math, music, P.E., science, and politics outside the confines of school as they experience a new, harsh reality. ...I consider it my finest work. The message is clear and the drama is top-notch. Go and reconnect with your inner child!" And to quote Demerin Kaneko: "It’s only a matter of time before The Drifting Classroom becomes part of the national curriculum."
