Great interview, I learnt a lot about life perspectives when you're here vis-à-vis when in the US and vice versa. For 57:39 CRB do give you a chance to rebuild credit again, but it takes longer. One has to clear the debts owed, then pay some clearance fee to CRB, get a clearance certificate and build credit score afresh. The bad thing is that some lending institutions don't lend you again. Others do after some period eg. 5yrs.

As much there's luck played on this guest fate -- he's also smart and hard working then divisive!! Few people try that path and NEVER saw success by going to Kenya after years in USA. Him re-surfacing back in the system and make it is not a {1+1=2} mathematics, his siblings OfCourse played a great role, probably never underwent survival tactics na roommates kisha na wale Morio wa ngori na influence. Diaspora ... THE LANDING GEAR IS EVERTHING, rest is GOD!!.. peer influence has killed many dreamers and too much jealousy amongst peers wenye ata hamkujuana before leaving the country !! Good job Mwaf'

I have always known VJ ONE the brand but never seen the face behind it. I worked closely with musicians he shot videos for in Kenya but i never met this brilliant gentleman. This is an honest and eye opening conversation. Thanks Mwaf for taking IKO NINI out of the block.

This interview is spot on! I also moved to the US in 2000 on a student visa. Those days things were a little bit easier (financially), and was also easier to change status. I lied on my first job application (and gave them some photocopied/altered documents), and for some reason they didn't bother to ask for the originals. A lot changed after the 911 attacks. I honestly don't even know how people who don't have makaratasi survive these days. Unless working menial jobs. Having lived most of my life in the US, sometimes I feel grounded. I visit Kenya almost every year. The social life in Kenya is definitely better, but I don't know where to start if I relocated back. This was a great interview.
