Thanks for this kit review, I could see you removing the resistor underneath the FAV selection pins and put in a slot for changing the resistor for the wanted band. You could even add a switch for FAV /variable selection. Now if they made a BFO mixer chip/board that would fit inside your case…well can’t have everything, but it would be nice:). Have a wonderful 2024!

Receiving Maine USA from Australia is pretty long-haul. There are several single-chip radios, but the audio quality from that one is quite impressive.

Nice! Those look like the knobs on my Sony Recievers from the seventies.

for the price this is a very nice kit, I'm impressed you could even receive long wave with it and it looks quite handy to throw in a pack or your car

@@GoonyMclinux, they didn't have them 3 days ago, and they don't have them right now. (I just checked.) So I found a source for the chips and bought a few. I can probably build the rest from my parts bins.

I bought one and received it here in Oregon USA last week. I look forward to building soon.

it is, the website isn't the best but there should be a button that says CPK. The button says CPK not CPK-3.

👍Good one Peter. Soap dish project box is a good idea.

Cool soap box radio, reminds me of the soap box derby. Lol That case actually looks like its a perfect choice for the kit. Thanks Peter. :)

could you put a pin receptacle for the resistors and be able to swap out resistors to have you move thru the SW bands? or have a switch with a few (1-4) resistors on a board then switch between the SW bands. just "thinking" out loud. Sounds like a pretty cool little thing to go into the soap box. great things. thanks for doing all of these 73's KI5IUF

Yes, both would work.

Amazing, you picked up German speaking FM stations at 11.20 ;-) (Yes I know there are a few broadcasting in Australia but still a surprise)

What's about a 10--turn potentiometer for the tuning? May that not be more comfortable? A lot of German speaking FM-stations aviable in VK, I couldn't believe! 73/72 de Markus - db9pz (Member of QRP-AG DL - JN39fq - 3miles /5km east of LX)

Yes that would be good. A turns counter or voltage meter would then be desirable.

@@vk3ye... you are absolute right! For my 'one-Watter kits' (made by 'Diz' Dieter - W8DIZ) I allways used a 10-turn pot with a 'dial' mounted on the top. It makes my 30m CW-TRX, so much easier to use, ... ! One of my 'best' expieriences was, to get W1AW/KP4, in the middle of the night in DL, ... with about 1,6W only, on my homebrew TRX. ... better then 'working VK' with 1k5W and 3 element yagi! ... - HI HI ! ! ! - The sense and the shower, that was running down my spin, was incredible, never had before, ... a 'small' handmade TRX, buildt by myself, and that 'range' and succses, ... this is HAM-radio at it's best! You cannot get this kind of feeling, with 'bought' equipment! I think, you know, what I was speaking about, ... ! Sorry for my bad English, it's not my native tounge, ... it's a long time ago, that I stayed and dwelled in the UK, for the last time, about +30 years now. Never been in VK, until now, ... ! Maybe, time will tell me more. 73/72 de Markus - db9pz

I think your dependency on soap dishes and boxes for mounts and enclosures is quite funny, a poke in the eye for the 3D printing crowd :-)
