Han Solo's line "I know" when Leia said she loves him was originally "I love you too" in the script. On the day they shot the scene, both George Lucas and Harrison Ford agreed it would be more in line with Han's character to say something like "I know" but still mean "I love you too." And to keep the risk of spoiler leaks down, the line they used while filming the "I am your father" scene was "No, Obi-Wan killed your father." According to Mark Hamill, from the time they filmed the scene to the premiere, only he, George Lucas, Irvin Kerschner (the director), and James Earl Jones (voice of Darth Vader) knew about the real twist.

@jrus6903 жыл бұрын
jedsithor I think what hurt the prequels was that they were doing earlier attempts at lighting with computer aid instead of physical light source. Each prequel movie had more practical work than the whole OT, but the difference was they were using heavy computer editing instead of the earlier editing techniques. It all combined to create a artificial look, whereas the sequel movies simply had better computer editing and lighting, although I think there was a lot of laser scanning going on, maybe with the prequels too, they still had to build things.

While Yoda does want to save the galaxy, he only sees it from the angle of restoring the Jedi order. The Force isn’t exclusive to either the Jedi or Sith. So when Luke gets the vision of Han and Leia, it’s actually the Force testing if Luke is more interested in becoming a Jedi or actually saving the galaxy. Luke going to Bespin isn’t a mistake, it’s a sacrifice play. While they can’t save Han right then, his fight with Vader gives Leia, Lando and Chewie the opportunity and time to escape, also because they needed R2 to realize the hyper drive was disabled and needed to be turned on. Because if Leia, one of the most prominent leaders of the rebellion dies, it’s most likely a death blow. So Luke, whether he’s conscious of it or not, is choosing the right path towards the light, even if it means risking walking away from his personal wish to become a Jedi.

You saw the remastered version, that's why some scenarios looked a bit better than in the original, for example, in cloud city, there weren't windows in the original, those were added in the remastered editions, the snow monster had a few more scenes as well, also Luke's actor had a car accident previous to this movie, and had face surgery, so I understand that's why they added the scene where the monster attacks his face

Ford accidentally got the role of Han Solo. He had done some acting to this point and had actually acted in a George Lucas movie before called American Graffiti. Lucas had no desire to reuse actors from that movie, so Ford wasn't even being considered. Ford's primary job at that time was of carpentry working on various projects for Hollywood stars and productions. Lucas was casting the three main characters of Luke, Leia and Han, but doing auditions in groups, so he could find the right chemistry between the characters. He had 5 actors auditioning for Luke, 5 for Leia, but only had four actors for Han. The casting director of American Graffiti who was also a producer, knew that Lucas needed one more Han and also knew that Ford was available, being a friend of Ford's. The producer convinced Lucas to have Ford just read the part, so their would be enough people for the auditions. Ford came in and turned out better auditions than the other actors trying for the role and eventually earned the part despite Lucas being against the idea of using an actor that he had used in a past project. The rest as they say is history.

Fun fact: When filming the iconic "I am your father" scene, David Prowse (the actor inside the Vader suit) said "Obi Wan killed your father", but James Earl Jones(the voice of Vader) was given a secret script with the real famous line we know today
@jonmercano11383 жыл бұрын
The snow scenes were filmed in Norway There was indeed someone in the wampa suit. Though in the original cut the costume didn’t look to great, so it was barely seen. That was indeed stop motion He wasn’t really choking him through the tv, he was choking him from a distance Vader kills his own men because the empire is a machine. If a piece isn’t working, you tear it out and replace it. AT-AT (All Terrain Armored Transport). They were done with miniatures and stop motion “They’re depicting war” Oh wait till Rogue One Remember you’re watching the updated special editions with improved visual quality and effects. Though this one has the least changes/additions. Technically he doesn’t go into his meditation chamber to remove his helmet, he just can when it’s sealed. You’ll find out what happened to him eventually. Yoda is voiced and puppeteered by veteran muppet actor Frank Oz Yoda was putting on an act to test Luke’s patience, though he is still mischevious and rambunctious from time to time This takes place 3 hears after the last movie Jedi typically start training very young, from childhood. Yes, that was the big boss of the empire. The emperor. He’s also Vader’s master. That was a vision Luke had in the cave and it was him in the mask. It was telling him if he attacked without emotional control he could fall to the dark side. Lando is not evil, how dare you! The empire arrived first and forced him to help. At keast you came to like him by the end. You weren’t wrong in the pronunciation, Lando (and 3PO I guess) just pronounces it that way. The twist was kept secret from pretty much everyone. The only ones who knew were George Lucas, James Earl Jones (Vader’s voice), and the director. They told Mark Hamill right before they filmmed the scene. For everyone else, the line they thought it was gonna be was “Obi-Wan killed your father.”
@The_Dudester3 жыл бұрын
Very thorough but one item. Because of the name Han (it is commonly used among the Dutch), Frank Oz decided to have some fun with the syntax that Yoda uses. In German:"Jon zu dem market gehen." Literal translation-John to the store went (Germans place the verb at the end of a sentence. German is descended from Dutch, so the syntax is very similar). When 800 years old you are look as good you will. Dutch.

Vkunia, I hope I speak for a lot of us when I say we deeply appreciate how sincere and insightful your reactions are. Some people are over the top. Yours may not be as dramatic as others, but they're so relatable and sweet. One of my favorite moments is your expression of Han's response to Leia admitting she loves him. "I know." Your face was this annoyed, yet not really surprised, "Seriously?!" I could frame that. Once again, welcome to the fandom. Despite some of the bashing the fandom gets, especially lately, we're a good group. Surly sometimes, emotional, and opinionated, but you'll find we lend each other a helping hand when in need. Don't believe me, check it out. Yes, one of the timeless appeals of the Star Wars franchise is that it is its own 'real world.' The rules may not be the same as ours, but there's more than enough we can relate to. And oh yes, there is humor. There's also dread, fear, sorrow, hope, joy, and everything in between. It's a rich storyline. I hope you'll check out more than the movies. Also, this is likely too late, but I hope you will consider actually watching 'the prequels' first. This may seem like an odd request, but it's a method many fans have recommended. It's called 'The Machete order." It makes the payoff in Return of the Jedi that much more. I'll summarize why. Now that you know who Darth Vader is, I'm sure you want answers. You'll get these answers. It'll also make you question an important decision he will make in Return of the Jedi. I haven't known anyone who saved Return of the Jedi for last who regretted it. Again, a suggestion. Likely too late, too. :D One more thing. Watching your insights and sincerity, as well as taking lessons within the story and understanding them well, I think you would make a great Jedi. You are what a Jedi should be. It doesn't take much to see you with a blue lightsaber. Mostly fashion reasons, I admit. Take care, Vkunia. Welcome, and may the Force be with you.
