I'm really surprised that the squat wr is more than the deadlift, lifting 500kg nearly killed Eddie Hall but this guy was pumping out 3 lifts over 500kg just fine.

Stupidly, deadlifts start off the bottom of the lift, unlike the squat or bench. If people had to do those off the bottom, the high numbers for those would also drop quite a bit.

Ya but take any powerlifter and have them do strongman lifts. They would suck horribly. Just shows how strong eddie hall and them guys really are compared to specialists that only perform 3 moves. I'd take the functional strength of eddie hall over a powerlifter and strength anyday
@OneDerscoreOneder
@OneDerscoreOneder 4 жыл бұрын
@@MMAFreakofNature no. 1. it shows that strongman is approximately a superset of powerlifting more than anything, like calisthenics is to rings in gymnastics 2. with the way powerlifting has been, the type of people who get into it and the number of people in it, relatively comparable powerlifters are at a disadvantage to strongmen. Even the atwr super heavyweights in powerlifting max out at around 390. RN the raw and strapped totals are held by two people around 370, and super heavyweight records span from 330 to 390. For WSM, this is commonplace and many are 430+, which makes it an unfair comparison. 3. Also, strongmen don't hold that many powerlifting records despite the two biggest lifts being in their sport.

For record lifts by now they should have it set up so after the lift for it to count for the record it should have several judges later watch it close on video from all angles to make sure its good. The Rational Saiyan There aren’t “dozens of wraps” supporting him, however. It’s a pair - one per leg. And wraps are absolutely raw. So no, I gotta respectfully disagree with ya. This is a raw squat - no suit.

James Lepore It’s arguably that wraps aren’t raw, considering they help support the body like the suit and belt
@darthInsanius
@darthInsanius 5 жыл бұрын
The Rational Saiyan Well that depends on which raw you are referring to. Some feds have two categories - one with and one without raps. But both are raw. The most you can say is that wraps are not a specific type of raw. But to (edit:) say that “wraps are not raw” is objectively not true. They are a form of raw powerlifting. And also belts aren’t a system of support like a suit and wraps are. If you ever see a federation that considers a belt as gear/not raw, run the other direction.

Huge respect for Vlad Alhazov best squater on the world own league after his knee injury huge comeback. But i still like more squats from Malanichev, Jezza Uepa, Odel Manuel, Liliebridge Petras because you dont have no doubt of reaching depth if you compare this athletes with Vlad.The truth is, however, that this is badly judged for us because Vlad have lot of mass and from this camera angle we cannot see it good.

3 reds on each lift under IPF rules.
@eldsprutandedrake
@eldsprutandedrake 5 жыл бұрын
Yea, I'm not going to argue with that at all, it would not have passed in the IPF... What I don't see is how that matters though, the IPF is just a federation like all others, I don't think they are some be-all and end-all of power lifting. Why they see themselves as some sort of standard just because they are big and have judges who would rather fail than pass is beyond me. Also their "drug testing" is such a joke so I don't know why they even try to promote themselves as clean :P If you squat/press/pull big numbers, the only thing that matters is if it was during a meet and what gear you used (wraps, sleeves and so on) what federation is irrelevant ^^
@petrl9838
@petrl9838 5 жыл бұрын
Garrold 1 idk. The second squat looks quite deep, and the ipf passed a lot of borderline squats from the swedes too
@garrold1849
@garrold1849 5 жыл бұрын
eldsprutandedrake Fair point. Also I agree about the IPF being “drug free”. Any fed that doesn’t carry out testing out of competition or at divisional level is laughable.
@DforDelinquent
@DforDelinquent 5 жыл бұрын
@@garrold1849 IPF does indeed carry out testing out of competition. Their anti doping measures are not perfect but I can't think of any other fed that has done a better job of trying to get rid of drug cheats, can you? They can't test everyone; the cost would be prohibitive. If someone wants to use drugs he or she should compete in a non-tested fed; it's simple.
@Blackbereh
@Blackbereh 5 жыл бұрын
@@eldsprutandedrake 1. It matters because they have the strictest rules on all three lifts and therefore the lifts are under the most scrutiny. 2. It's not that they see themselves as a standard in Powerlifting, it's that so many other people do. That's why they're the most popular. 3. The judges are just people into the sport wanting to give back, I know many international and British (IPF affiliated) judges. I swear people de-humanise IPF judges just because they actually call high squats high and adhere to the rules lmao. I can bet you whatever federation this guy lifts in, the rules state 'the hip crease must descend beneath the knee', but in this lift it doesn't, yet it gets passed. IPF judges would follow that rule and fail all three squats, whereas assuming that is the wording of the rule in this federation, they've basically just ignored it. 4. There drug testing is WADA compliant, which is about as good as you can get in any sport, although others may have more testing (because they have more funding). It's not perfect, it's not even 'good,' but it's better than nothing. 5. Allowing a monolift is a crucial difference in adding weight to the bar. This guy would have to take off some kilos if he had to do a walkout. Same goes with a deadlift bar, a lenient press command on bench, a lack of start command on bench, and even a squat command once upright on the squat. In summary, I think it absolutely does matter which federation it's in. Anyone can start a federation and host 'a meet' where every squat is high but its white lights all round. Doesn't make it legit. The IPF is by no means perfect, there are many problems, but yeah, the lifting is no doubt more legit than what I just saw. This dude is monstrously strong, but I would much prefer to see what he could do in an IPF standard meet (if he competes tested, which I assume he doesn't).

@Yalashaska 5 жыл бұрын
it goes a bit below parallel so there is no discussion, also this is a more powerful and productive style of squatting than the oly style that most newbies like to praise, oly neglects hamstrings and is quads, BACK and glutes dominant, on the other hand this type of squatting is more LEG dominant cause it's mainly done by the quads, hamstrings and glutes, so it's all legs and even better for leg strength than ATG squats
@Yalashaska
@Yalashaska 5 жыл бұрын
I forgot to say, it's also much better for legs than the rippetoe style which it is mostly done by the posterior chain specially the back, rippetoe squat is what sumo is to convencional deadlift, a way out, that's why is so popular nowadays
