On the one hand, I can’t help but think the people who sent these videos are watching with a pen and notepad, and are frantically scribbling. But on the OTHER hand, I feel like they’re looking at certain parts and are gamer raging HARD at the things happening in this video. Actually it's normal since the mortars have stalk + snipe, the bats can't target what they can't see so I doubt it was just Legend here

Honestly, I have never encountered a situation where several units with guns cannot kill Vlad... Of course, when he is under the buff of the ring, there is no point in shooting, but it lasts about 20 seconds.

When you're not dwarves, artillery really depend on support units to keep the enemy busy. Hence why Skaven work so well: They can spawn units anywhere, drawing the enemy away from their big guns.

I have had Vlad basically 1-2 shotted by ironsides and regular gunners, but they had been upgraded somewhat by an engineer and Elsbeth and the imperial gunnery.

Y'know this reminds me of that one disaster battle where you fought Ungrim and a bunch of Dwarfs as Kislev, iirc it basically went down to the wire since most of the units ran out of ammo and had to fight in melee. Although I don't recall the deployment zone being like that in that video.

tbh the emperors wrath(the "holy" steam tank) is so OP in the beginning(like first 50 turns) against literally everyone, especially if you manage to get a life wizard with it, it can win battles like this alone when there is nothing with enough mass to stop it(and even when there is you can get away, just harder), in my elspeth campaign i killed vampire counts just with elspeth, one engineer hero(the starting one), life wizard and a 1-3 emperors wrath(started with 1, got to 3 before wiping them), this allowed me to build the second(proper) army to help karl with festus, so my tip to everyone - just save enough money to unlock the research to recruit it and you dont even need a half stack total army with it

Seeing Vlad melt in 10 seconds under sustained bullet fire, you realise when people complain about him its just a skill issue. The empire 100% has the necessary tools in its arsenal to defeat Vlad, especially since the latest DLC.

one of the things that people forget when fighting Vlad, is that whenever he starts taking damage, he'll pop the Von Carstein Ring to get the +60% ward save that maxes him out to the 90% maximum damage resistance. If you can bait him into popping the ring about thirty second before you start shooting at him with your main shooters he goes down pretty quick if it's still relatively early game. Also, mounted engineer heroes destroy Vlad(and pretty much any other single entity) so bringing one as The Empire is highly reccomended.

Oh wow, I remember fighting Vlad on this exact same map, except he had 3 actual armies and I had Elspeth's army and um... we don't talk about the reinforcing army of swordsmen and cannons that I'd just picked up from a confederation. I THOUGHT having those two amazing cliffs overlooking 3 chokepoints would be the best defence scenario ever, but 3 rematches later, I realised that the best thing to do was put my whole army in front of it, with some artillery backup that eventually got flanked because I wasn't paying attention. And then just... slowly retreat up the slope, sacrificing swordsmen one at a time while buying time and distance for the handgunners. The worst possible map I can imagine for a gunpowder army >.< WHY CAN'T MY DERPLINGS AIM THEIR RIFLES DOWN? But after seeing this, I've learned a lot about chokepoint battles... wow the AI.

I don't understand I play on very hard battle difficulty, I have never had a problem killing Vlad, with guns normally he just dies in a volley or 2 and that is it, I just have everyone focus him and he dies. The most annoying thing about vlad is that he is a vampire count faction and can rebuild his army every turn and you have to kill him like 6 times in a row to beat his faction. I normally run full gun stacks with some arty to support since the patch, and he just dies if you can get him away from his troops and focus him. even when Legend FINALLY focused him, he flopped over. I think he has PTSD or something and is afraid to just delete him with a gunline focusing on him.

I think you may be paying too much attention to what legend was saying in the opening that vlad is the problem. Rather its managing the fight around vlad to minimize casualties and maximize success rate. The way legend played is one of the more consistent methods of managing this fight. Many times i've had vlad just break off from the units trying to hold him down and mess up my entire firing line or always be bogged down in my infantry and if i shift the infantry around, suddenly half the army has their AI decide to rush the gunners instead and everything gets messed up.

@@nanonano2595 Yea, I have had many fights with vlad and the vast majority of them, I take no damage, I normally run 3-4 lord/heroes, 3 arty and the rest guns, I take out the bats that are coming in, then just focus fire the unit protecting vlad, then as soon as it is gone delete vlad, then delete the rest. If they make it to the gun line, normally I am in a checkerboard pattern and nuln ironsides do just fine in melee and it isn't an issue, you just make slight adjustments to the line and kill anything that makes it through, but generally, nothing does. People run too many melee with the empire now, it is an Napoleon or Fall of the Samurai faction now. Not pike and shot.

@@Evirthewarrior Especially as Nuln, considering everything that isn't killed by a gunpowder unit won't give you schematics. Personally I prefer 5/5/5/5 (Heroes/infantry/cav/arty all gunpowder) as a standard/default composition and generally avoid using mages for damage because it leads to less schematics. And tend towards death or shadow magic. :P

Wow. I was going to comment about how I actually suggested the emergency steam vent idea on the forums, and have had several ideas actually make it into the game. I went to the forums to try and prove it and....everything is gone. They did such a bad job with the launch that they literally obliterated the forums so nobody would be able to see all the backlash in the future. My years of making fun of other forum posters and actually getting listened to by some CA employees(Mostly by Duck but a few others) are gone. I cant even remember all the stuff I had get into the game off hand, I know there were several but it will take time to remember them. Forgotten all except the Syreens debuff, that I suggested for Cairn wraiths and was pissed to find out they used my idea and put it behind a paywall. CA has literally forsaken the company they used to be, destroyed all record of it. There can be no "good" version of CA we compare to if there is only one CA.
