Vladimir Kara-Murza knows a thing or two about the dangers of government-sponsored, tech industry-supported censorship. As a Russian opposition activist, he was found guilty of treason for speaking out against Putin’s crackdown on dissidents. And now, in the context of Trump’s government overhaul, U.S. tech companies are “essentially acting as accomplices to dictatorships.” “Those companies that declare their adherence to principles such as the rule of law, respect for human rights, respect for democracy, they have to actually follow these principles, as opposed to helping dictatorships overcome them.”

The American taxpayer has given Israel - a country of 10 Million people $310Billion dollars since 1948. That is over $30,000 for every Israeli citizen. Michigan and North Carolina have around the same population -- think how they could have benefited with that money. That amount of Money could have been Wyomings entire budget over that same time period. Bin Laden stated the US support for Israel was his primary motivation for 911. Why are US taxpayers forced to give a wealthy successful country with a better standard of living than we have so much money?? They are a wealthy nation perfectly capable of paying for it themselves. The $3.3 billion in annual U.S. aid accounts for less than 0.6% of Israel’s total GDP. It makes no sense at all. Even Trump can't stop it.

Hamas was set up to oppose the Palestinian Authority, and ensure they never became a viable stable governing body. 3) Israel built those tunnels. Really interesting discussion about tech. this is pretty general statement but I've found the people who are most heavily into tech and computers and computer science are some of the most anti-social people I've known. It makes sense these inhumane acts could be facilitated in tech sphere.. Tech also makes it easy view and steal enormous amounts of private data very quickly. I know we can't go back to the file cabinet method, but the ease and accessibility of technology has it's downsides.

GREAT interview, thank you Ali! That being said, I'm afraid that we really need to take this one step further. I don't know about Apple (you could argue that by collaborating, the West still has SOME access to the people of these dictatorships, even though that means siding with and empowering dictators?), but those occupying the White House right now have been very clear and for years: they sincerely believe that democracy does not work and that world peace will only come about when all countries become fascist (and when we only have a few big fascist empires, that's why they all want to expand their territory; isolationism will only be possible AFTER that's achieved). Now that neofascism is part of the West and in the US occupying the White House and literally installing a fascist government, we urgently need to read why THEY believe that democracy cannot win, so that we can literally address their counterarguments.
