For those people interested in music production on this laptop I used two DAWs on it, Ableton & Maschine. They ran quite well, however after running LatencyMon i found that the Nvidia kernel mode driver was causing excessive latency at about 1700μs, so I tried changing in the Vantage Software to IGPU only mode and then the maximum windows related latency was at ~500μs, a HUGE improvement. (LatencyMon is a tool that measures DPC routines and their latency which can in turn effect handling real-time audio) Would you guys like me to incorporate these tests in future laptop reviews/comparisons? I'm just not sure how many of my viewers actually do music production, comment below if you would find it helpful!

Hello! And thanx for your video. I recently bought this i7 laptop with RTX 3060 GPU, and 32GB of RAM, WQXGA screen. I bought it in a deal where the RTX 3070 option cost almost 200 euros more, if I remember correctly, but to save that money I chose the 3060 option. I didn't want the laptop for gaming, but for video editing, and I thought that the GPU was not that important in video editing as it is for gaming, so I thought that the 3060 was enough for my needs. I mainly use it for non-proffesional 4k video editing, adding some effects, like stabilization, and also some color editing layer. Now I've been reading about the importance of the GPU in video editing, for processes like real-time effects processing during timeline playback, rendering time, etc. (I'm more concerned about the first, because like everyone I like an editing experience as smooth as possible). I have read that the RTX 3070 has between 20-30% more power than the 3060 (benchmark results in gaming). Looking ahead, now I'm wondering if I'd have done better spending that extra money for the 3070 instead of the 3060. Do you think I would have noticed a big difference with the 3070, would video editing have been smoother? Or on the contrary, the difference between the 3070 and the 3060 is more noticeable in games, but in video editing, the difference is less noticeable? In short, do you think the RTX 3060 is good enough to edit 4k video + effects smoothly? Thanks in advance for your answer.
@VladimirKostek Жыл бұрын
I talk about this a little bit at 8:45 the 3070 or 3070Ti will certainly be better for content creation with the extra 2gb of VRAM and higher CUDA core count and power draw. However the 3060 is still quite strong and does get a lot of power in this 5i Pro version. For 200$ extra I'll leave it to you if you think it's worth the upgrade, for general playback and with some effects I don't think you will be able to notice too much of a difference. If you go crazy with the effects and are adding a ton of stabilization and color grading etc. you might slightly notice a difference btwn the two but with the projects I did while I had both models I couldn't really notice any difference (typing this on my 3060 version btw as I edit my next video). Also the 3070 is not 20-30% stronger based on my testing more along the 10-20% range based on my testing on these lenovo laptops specifically. You can always try overclocking a tad in the built in vantage software should you have any noticeable issues. May I ask what editing software you use?
@jseragu Жыл бұрын
@@VladimirKostek thanks a lot for your answer. I use Adobe Premiere. If I had known the importance of GPU in video edition, I'd had chosen the 3070, but now it's done. I hope I won't have big issues with 3060!

@wolfstorm5394 I talk about that in the vid, my daily driver is lower wattage. I use the legion 5 only around the house or local coffee shops because of the laptop size and big psu, it's not practical to travel with

Would you like to do a giveaway? I would love to win a Lenovo Legion! It is the most suited laptop that I see on the market and is capable of handling the workload from the course I am studying. I study and am very passionate about Architecture! I'm from Namibia, Africa. It is really hard to find a good laptop and once you do, they barely ever go on sale here. The Architecture based software we use demands both great CPU and GPU performance, which the legion excels at! Programs like Photoshop require great CPU performance, while rendering software like Lumion and 3D software like Revit ask a lot from the GPU. A good laptop such as the Legion is hard to come by and I currently can't afford it. It would mean the world to me if I won this Laptop!

Unfortunately I returned one of them and use the other one. I'll likely do another giveaway on the channel when i reach 5K or 10K.
