I've purchased a few custom-made dress shirts from Proper Cloth and have had nothing but good experiences with them. The shirts fit me perfectly, and the overall experience has been positive. Haven't tried their suits but I highly recommend the dress shirts especially for guys who struggle to find off the rack dress shirts that fit.

Glad you are back! Nice suit indeed. I noticed you don’t use the tie loop to keep the two sections of your tie together. Why is that the case?

Thank you, glad to be back. Regarding my tie, my philosophy is it should never be perfect, that’s why I hate tie bars. Just wear really nice ones, tie a 4-in-hand knot with a dimple, and get on with your life. I never think twice about it after that.

I will revisit Proper Cloth because of your review. I tried a dress shirt a few years ago and I wasn't impressed. I think the guy that measured me wanted me to wear a skin-tight shirt. I just ordered my first suit from Enzo Custom. I went with the least expensive wool in case they didn't do a good job with fit and construction. I will try PC with two shirts, then move to a suit. I’ve been a fan of Proper Cloth for several years now. I bought some shirts from them and they’re among my favorite shirts in my wardrobe. Though I don’t have a suit from them yet, I’d love to pull the trigger on them when it fits in my budget. Glad to hear others appreciating them as well. Thanks. P.S. Their shirts are great but the suits are definitely worth a look. I get so many compliments for that tie, it’s from Shibumi. The background is actually navy, but it’s sold out last time I checked.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but is fit not a matter of scale? For shorter men, should they consider a narrower lapel, shorter pant cuff, perhaps single pleat instead of double? Great looking suit! How tall are you?

What’s up, Roger? I don’t think lapel width has to do with height but more width. I have a wider chest so I prefer 4” to 4.25”. But I’d say the lapels should be at least 3.50”, that way it’s timeless. I’m 5’10 and I currently wear 2.25” cuffs. I’d say if you’re under 5’7, maybe consider 1.5”. The cuffs do help the trousers drape better since the hem is heavier, so I always recommend them regardless of height. As far as pleats, I don’t think height plays any parts in single or double, just a matter of preference IMO.

How did you measure your sleeve length? I have created a custom measurement following their video instruction and all but can't really pin down the points as far as sleeve goes to be 100% sure. Afraid to pull the trigger yet because of this.

I just followed the video. What I’d advise is have your tailor measure a jacket’s sleeves that fit well. They’ll know what to do.

I flew to NYC to get measured and fitted in person with Proper Cloth. Three remakes, including a different line of suit, and they could not get my fit right. Too low arm holes. I lifted my arms and had bat wings. I am big muscular v build, so I know its tricky, but two other MTM companies got me right the first time after I gave up on PC. However, I still buy my shirts from Proper Cloth and an occasional set of pants. I am glad their suit worked for you.

Sorry to hear it! There’s definitely limitations with MTM, if their pattern doesn’t fit your body type, you’re pretty much out of luck. But it’s good that you’ve found others that work.
