Fasting is an essential part of the Christian walk. In Matthew 6 verse 16 Jesus said, "when you fast" not "if" you fast; meaning it is expected that those who follow Him will be fasting after He leaves and ascends to heaven.
But you may be asking, can you actually fast 40 days?! The short answer is yes, you can. In this video, as I am on day 37 of a 40 day fast, I explain all the details and answer all the common questions (with Scriptural backing) surrounding fasting.

The Holy Spirit can lead us to fast but, it may take a few attempts before it's completed when they're learning to fast right. With every temptation, He provides a way out. But, if you are not looking for the way out, you can get overwhelmed, give in and have to try again. God will prompt us in many ways, sometimes long before we are ready to let His grace carry us through. So, if someone has been lead by the Holy Spirit to fast but has broken the fast, just seek Him for where the weakness was and try again. It can be a process to learn to fast right. And God will call you into a fast to help you start going through that process 🙏

In April 2020, I did a 100 days fast! It was so incredible that I made an KZbin video about it! I did 45 days water fast followed by 55 days of 2 cups a day of home cooked chicken bone broth. 7 days ago I started another one. We can do all things through Christ who strengthen us! Philippians 4:13

How is 45 days with only water possible? I'm thin as it is. I would lose so much weight that it would be dangerous. I've done maybe 10 days fast and I thought I was going to leave my body!! @@mankichong2943 it was not hard for me to fast for 40 days in part because I knew I was being called by the Holy Spirit to do it. I only had hunger pains a few times a day for the first couple of days. By day four The sensation of being hungry went away. I did not regain any desire for food until about day 28. The whole time I was cooking food for my family and it was a very simple discipline Not to lick my fingers if they had barbecue sauce on them or whatever it was that I was cooking. The Lord has led me to both a 30 day fast and I'm currently doing a 40 day fast. Liquids only (tea/water). Please consider taking vitamin supplements as well, especially Potassium and salt. When I did the 30 day fast back in 2021, I received revelation upon revelation, especially about hidden sins I was not aware of. It's like the light comes on. You draw so close to the Lord. In both that fast and now again, I do have Holy Communion every day, so I eat 1/8 slice of bread. One would think I'd be tempted to eat a bigger piece of that bread when doing Communion, but I wasn't. The hunger goes. Deny the body for the Lord, and He ends up blessing the body with good health to serve Him more effectively.

Taking vitamins and supplements is a bad idea while fasting. Your body has all it needs. Perhaps just some salt and that’s it.

Nothing wrong with taking extra minerals, our food contains so much less then it did in the old days, so our bodies don't have that much reserves like they did in Jezus's days. There is no good or bad here, I think our bodies know very well what they need, cows have a thing called "salt-hunger", we will regain that once we learn to listen to our bodies again, and build a different relationship with eating, besides the dopamine fix. What I learned from fasting is, what I tell friends, your body doesn't have energy to spare for the ego, you become one with the world, you have no choice. I cooked for my husband, with all the love in my heart and was happy for him to enjoy it so much, whilst I hadn't eaten for 12 days or so. It was so humbling to give, but it's so easy when you're fasting.

I'm 35 days in and feel next to death sometimes. My husband has been concerned and has unintentionally encouraged me to just stop. I'd rather die than disappoint my Lord. I will not quit! Listen Deja Copeland, remember that it comes from God. If you're struggling the way you have stated it's not led of God. I noticed like yesterday I was invited to a dinner. I mean this person was pleading me to go to dinner. I declined. You will not be hungry. Just pray about before you start. No matter what please let us know how it goes. Grab a bible and a journal and continue and if you fall get back up again. Watch everything and anything in fasting, and read the bible as you go even one chapter a day it helps fed the spirit before you know it the days are gone. Never feel defeated.

3-days fasts are the hardest!! Days 1-2: easy Days 3-4 hangry as heck!! Days 5+ super easy.

@@SCRaetz That's so true...push beyond the 3 days and you will open your eyes ... if you only do 3-days fast you experience too much of the negative (hunger). Also, it can take upon 2-3 days before you actually start autogaphy and reach ketosis. Also loosen the carbs as preparation for a fast 2 weeks before you start and eat only light meals 3 days before (no meat). And don't forget to eat a tablespoon of salt per day when fasting, inlcuding extra potassium. These tips are not hardcoded rules, but a good rule of thumb :).

I would suggest that you set up your life to where you don't have to do anything else for those 40 days. No work or school or anything that requires too much focus. Also, continuously make your fasting an offering to the Most High.

Read this book on fasting written in 1945: “Atomic power with God thru Fasting and Prayer by Franklin Hall. It’s a thin book but it gives both spiritual and natural benefits of fasting with lots of testimonies. The love of food is one of mankind’s three carnal appetites. But none of these must overcome your spiritual appetite for God. That is why we must fast to bring the flesh under subjection. You can do this! Start with small fasts. Skip a meal for a while. Then try a 1 day fast and so forth. But remember God truly does see the heart. And without reading your Bible AND praying, you are simply starving yourself. God bless you.

Vlad!!!! I wish I would have seen this video yesterday! I started my fast March 16! I truly felt like it was the Holy Spirit leading me through the fast! I know my wife means good but she always end up saying something that discourages me! Even as something as small as “I feel bad eating because you are not eating!” And she will stop eating herself, or stop making food for the kids and herself because she feels bad that I am not eating! And just yesterday I decided to end my fast! As I am watching your video I felt a fire surround and a huge conviction come upon me! I didn’t have the full picture why I needed to fast! I feel God was giving me piece by piece as time went by! And this video showed me exactly what God wants to do with me! The bigger picture! Do a deep cleansing within me! I’ve been saved 2 years, never been delivered, but I have had an over whelming disgust within myself! I can sense and feel like a lot of nasty things are about to come out of me! But something is holding me back! And I see more clear than ever! That it’s me holding ME back! Should I restart my fast or continue? I truly feel like I need to restart! February 20th I did the 27 day water fast for health reasons I was going for 40 but I needed time to recover so I can move 40 in June 20th I will do my 40 day water fast I did it for health reasons but God showed me a lot of rebelling in my heart it was a blessing I wasn't even praying and reading the word after a while and it was a blessing you got me closer to God and made my health a lot better.

On my first 21 day fast. I know the Holy Spirit has been prompting me for a while but I've been slow to respond and gave up 2-3 days into my first attempt. This is now day 3 and I got hit again. Holy Spirits been leading me into a water fast for quite some time. It’s so hard and that’s okay our strength isn’t reliable, His is. I’ve failed a lot on this fast and it can discourage me how it feels like i’m just going in circles with it but it won’t leave my mind. It doesn’t feel like an obsession but it feels like He won’t let me run from this or move on from it so I just HAVE to do it! and it’s not from a heart of “I have to” it’s I get to and Lord please grace me in this Jesus. I want to fast . I am on my first day . I feel weak and completely not close to God but deep down i know i want to do this .Nomatter how far he is or how far i am i will run the race to meet him . How do I correctly do this fast? I have nothing left in my life. My wife died, my son has abandoned me. Financially ruined from lay offs and getting double pnemonia. Forgive me, I’m very new to this and have never seen myself as being a religious person. I don’t pray or attend church. I’ve done water fasting for health reasons. In 2014 I completed a 17 day water fast, my longest ever. Since then I’ve only gone on smaller fasts. But again only focusing on health reasons. I was recently diagnosed with torn cartilage in my left knee and decided that I want to do a 40 day fast in order to cleanse and heal my body as much as possible. But in the past I’ve struggled with the fasts. I need something higher to get me through this fast I intend to partake in. Your videos inspire me and I feel like I’m being called to fast but I don’t know if I’m being called by a higher power. I want to believe that I am being called by a higher power. At least, I want to have a higher power by my side as I progress through it. Can anyone suggest any daily prayers I can read to help me connect with a power that can guide me? Thank you for reading.

Whenever I fast someone out of the blue suggests a big juicy pizza with fries and ice cream. I remember when I was 5 days in my family bought pizza and I told myself that I will buy myself 20 pizzas when I am done and it worked. I bought a pizza when I finished.
