Soulja Slim was definitely on his way with Slow Motion. He had quotable verses on a song with a nationally proven multi platinum artist. And all the hard songs Juve dropped, it was his only Billboard Hot 100 #1. I remember Slim got on BET College Hill and if they shot a video to Slow Motion, it would have made it to 106 and Park and he would have taken off. He had charisma, reality music and his own style. That cadence on Soulja Life Mentality is still one of the most unique I've heard.

Bruh slim was a certified goon, he died cuz he made that bed. He was from uptown and bought his mom a house in gentilly, a relatively tame neighborhood. They wanted him bad to hit him 3 times in the head in front his moms house. It was personal. Everybody knows that 7th ward/gentilly pulled that off. BG even said it on “stand up for lil Wayne”

I always fucked with Slim, but I never realized how much he meant to New Orleans. This interview is shedding some light for me, i'd love if people from out that way commented on his impact they experienced. Is it true that the whole style and slang came from him? Thats just crazy how deep it goes.

I'm from down there. This interview gives me the chills. I'm 40. Literally the same age as Turk. I walked up on Slim in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. I was trying to hand him a demo off my music, he had his gun on his lap. He jumped when I tapped on the window. But he was so cool once he realized we was just trying to get on He was in a grey Tahoe or suburban or sumn

@grapograc 3 жыл бұрын
@@stephensullivan1879 well I always knew he was a real figure, and about what he was talking about. But it’s hard for anyone from outside the town to really know how deep it goes. That’s like thinking you know anything about the street legends where I’m from. What I didn’t know was that his influence was that heavy, city wide, and even outside of rap where the whole slang, dress and style came from him. That’s some other level shit tbh.
