Thats because Versace wanted Pac and had him model at his show in Italy. Pac met Versace back in 93 when he was dating Modonna. Versace said Pac was "beautiful" an began sending him clothes for free. Pac started giving these clothes to his hommies, Pac is the one who put BIG on to Versace. Before Pac died he was working on a deal with Versace

He didn't want Biggie wearing his shit. It's not meant for people his size. Not to mention Biggie wasn't attractive. He didn't want Biggie representing his clothing line. Gianni Versace was very close friends with Tupac. He thought Tupac was one of the most beautiful men he ever seen. So he used to give him all free Versace clothes. Tupac used to go overseas and do runway shows for Gianni Versace. So with all that being said. Versace just didn't want Biggie wearing his shit! He didn't fuck with Biggie he fucked with Tupac.

True many designer/ luxury brands do not want certain type of people wearing their clothes or buying their product. Some percieve the average young, black, hip hop fan, undesirable because they falsely believe they will cheapen the brand ( which is basically racist and classist ). I'm a designer and I remember when Timberland said something to the effect of " we acknowledge that the urban youth favor our brand but we will not change our advertising to accommodate or cater to that segment of our consumer base". They did not want to alienate their traditional white customer that used their product as a weather resistant boot, whose lifestyle they portrayed proudly in their advertising, not unlike Ralph Lauren at the time. Ralph , however, made Tyson Beckford his spokes model and diversified his advertising to include more black and people of color in general. Tommy Hilfiger totally embraced hip hop the way Fubu, Cross Colors, Karl Kani, Calvin Klein and others did, to great success. Now Timberland totally changed cause it's base continued to grow because of that urban customer, more young white folks wear Timberland more than ever now!.

The majority of urban companies were underfunded innthe 90's because investors knew they would not last and because the smaller the investment the bigger the return. They were not given the respect of Louis, Ralph, Gucci, etc. Lord Jamar is speaking facts.

Those brands stood the test of time because there is real love put into them. That's why many high end brands you see don't have some gimmicky name, but instead it's the actual name of the creator himself/herself. Louis Vuitton, Guccio Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Pierre Balmain, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin....those are REAL people. Who's Enyce? Rocawear? lmfao. Ralph originally wanted to sell ties and eventually realized the stores were playing him. Louis Vuitton and Guccio Gucci were really INTO the shit they were doing and were making shit themselves. Gucci was making bags himself. Vuitton built off the idea of making stackable luggage. They weren't like many urban brands where a someone gets a company to get some people over in China and Thailand to make some shit to flip in the states. There is a prestige that comes with historical high end brands (SOME of them, others are just crap) because of their origins and the work put into their business models. You might like the products or you might think they are complete shit, but you can't ignore the history of many of those brands. Now fast forward to Kanye West, who actually takes it serious enough beyond just a hustle and look what people are saying about him? They call him a narcissistic deranged lunatic who makes a bunch of bullshit and overcharges people (mind you, he doesn't even choose the prices) and you really wonder why those brands look down on the "urban" demographic? Look at all the shit they say about Jay-Z and Tidal. The very ones who should be supporting are shitting on efforts being put out to represent them. And you better believe those other companies bank on you shitting on guys like them until they die because they certainly don't want to see those types enter their circle. The biggest names in hip hop can't even get their own people to uphold their product or give it any real longevity....why the hell would "high end" luxury companies wanna associate with what they feel would be cancers to their branding?

Jermaine Shan far from it lol, but truth is truth. In Kanye's case, he didn't just go recruiting a bunch of people to run a company for him with borrowed funds. He actually went overseas to SCHOOL to learn from the same people that schooled those that so many young people are brainwashed into thinking are the end-all-be-all of fashion. He took that knowledge, came back and recruited creators from the same circles as the ones that we are told are THE ones to look to for high end design. He dipped in his own account and invested in himself, the same way so many other of those brand founders did....and he gets laughed at for it, for being in "debt." Then those same people run to Louis Vuitton and buy $700 sunglasses. They run to Hermes and buy $500 belts. Girls spend $4000 on handbags and $1500 on shoes to feel "stylish" then balk at the idea of Kanye's clothes (which I don't like, for the record....along with MANY other brands) being expensive? The funniest thing is people spend thousands on this shit and don't know anything about it or the people behind it....yet call him a sellout for being into high fashion when he's well aware of where his money is going. These trend followers only buy what the public tells them is hot. Ask them about Belstaff or Brunello and you get the blank stare because a rapper hasn't shouted it out yet. Before Kanye these niggas ain't know shit about no Balmain or Saint Laurent. But you tell me how many times you've seen someone with an "H" belt on with their shirt all tucked in the front because they want you to see what it is. Dudes love talking that Tom Ford shit til they walk in the door and see that $900 plain white shirt...then it's "Oh man i wish i could get that shit" but curse Kanye for having a $120 shirt. LMAO the hypocrisy is real. 6 months into Tidal, they were mocking Jay-Z because it wasn't doing what took KZbin TEN YEARS to reach.

billy smith Louis Vuitton is a french brand started by a french man and its products are predominantly made in France. Gucci is an Italian brand started by an Italian man and its products are made in Italy. Those are two of the biggest names, but I can go on if you like. Hopefully if you didn't get the point then, you get it now. Nowhere in any of my comments was I connecting quality and location. Coincidentally, "Made In America" is just a collection of Ralph Lauren products.
