In a REAL fight, there are no weight classes. Your logic is dumb. I've seen plenty of big dudes get knocked out by smaller guys. You never been in danger or in a real fight.
@Nclght5 жыл бұрын
@@thetrollbasher but rarely on a world class professional level so actually his logic was sound and more on point with the discussion. And you don't think boxing is real fighting? I think you need to talk to Conner and jellybean. Professional boxing has more world class fighters and therefore weight class is important. Tell ya what, take any weight in any style, include boxing or whatever and put them in a ring with the heavyweight boxing champion of the world. Very quickly you, they or whoever will understand the need for weight classes. Are you too young to remember the exhibition match between Ali and the then world Karate Champion? The Karate master laid on his back with his legs up in a defensive posture the entire match. He wanted no parts of a bigger and faster Ali (and if you don't think a professional boxer's handspeed is faster than those in other martial arts, then you need to stop watching movies and ask someone.. boxers work day and night endlessly of handspeed and power.. cue Ali's "phantom punch") Your argument may be valid when dealing with scrubs because an undersized but better fighter would beat a heavier fighter with bad technique. But if there isn't a big disparity in technique and training (like amongst world class boxers) you better know weight classes matter.

Taimak’s response shows why he didn’t have a super successful career after last dragon. If he had embraced his blackness he could have been the man.
@D2Kprime5 жыл бұрын
That comment doesn't make any sense. If racism is the reason he didn't get roles then "embracing his blackness" (whatever the hell that means) would cause Hollywood excess to push him further away. Wesley Snipes got roles. STARRING roles from the late 80s throughout the 90s. He's darker than a chocolate bar. I watched a special about him on TV One several years ago where he said that he *WAS* offered a sequel to _The Last Dragon_ but turned it down. I met this guy at C2E2 (Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo) back in 2012. When I brought this up to him he claimed that he was never offered a sequel. So either he lied to me personally, or he lied to everyone on that special. So this guy's word is sketchy at best. Tell me something. Why do we as black people expect white people to look out for us better than we look out for ourselves? It's not there responsibility to represent us and there is no prerequisite to what so-called "blackness" is. If WE owned ALL the movie studios and productions companies, how many white people would be in starring roles in films? **crickets** Keep it real dog. You know that if you had all that bread you would be casting nothing but brothers. You can't throw shade at them looking out for theirs when you know you look out for yours. We are ALL hypocrites in this.

His father is Italian, so Taimak will never understand or be in touch with his black side. The race and ethnicity of the father usually determines the child's mannerisms, physical appearance, etc. Taimak was always lost, and I also read that part of the reason why Taimak never got anymore roles after the Last Dragon was because he was too stiff, like worse than a cop! Remember, Taimak also appeared in Janet Jackson's video "Let's wait awhile", and she said the way he acted in her video, stiff and virgin like, was the way he was in real life. I could tell from watching his role in her video and the movie The Last Dragon, that Taimak was a square when it came to dealing with women. I can halfway understand why because he dedicated his entire life to the martial arts!, plus his father is Italian/White, so of course he's a little off. Part of Martial Arts teachings and the bible is that the most solid warriors never "defiled themselves with women". It sounds gay, but the martial arts is a craft that demands exclusive devotion, and Taimak gave all of his exclusive devotion to the the martial arts. Not mad at him, but scratchin' my head at the same time. As a fellow, much less experienced martial artist myself, I do understand the culture as to why he was so stiff, but of course, I done had me some pussy, got 3 kids and drama behind it! Lmao! @@garfieldharrison510 What's crazy and sad is that Taimak says that Bruce is his idol....but Bruce was unapologetic in his defense of his Chinese culture and heritage. Don't get me wrong , Bruce didn't want people to be judged , seperated or treated unfairly for their ethnicity but he definitely acknowledged his heritage and realized the up hill battle to get white Hollywood to accept a small amount of positive Asian culture. Bruce (little do people know wasn't full blooded Chinese) His Wing Chung teacher Yip Man had to give Bruce private lessons because of this issue (students who knew Bruce wasn't full blooded Chinese refused to be taught at the same time).

I get Taimak. The difference is I'm aware of the disconnect. I don't judge others by color, but I'm extremely aware that's how America works. It's draining trying to balance between being true to yourself and a world that's opposed to everything you hold sacred. People will not let you have peace when you refuse to think like them. He chooses to embrace his truth and just let go of the rest. Everything isn't about fame and his life is still good. I can't blame him.
@Nov24thsFinest5 жыл бұрын
Sunnye Daize I agree. What he said was that he chooses not to let the color of his skin define him or stop him from achieving. Society places us in boxes daily, however, you do not have to subject yourself to that aspect of thinking and still be cognizant that racism and prejudice does exist. Moreover, I believe that people failed to realize that this man is Bi-Ethnic having an African American mother and an European American father thus he most likely incorporates both experiences into his perspective of life. There is only one race and it is properly labeled the HUMAN RACE. We allow those in power to divide us as people.

Agreed. That's the tension we are seeing as he talks about it. Honorable character vs a business that is not honorable and will demand you to do and be something you're not or take a hike.

Mike is so real and unpretentious about the science of combat. What humility he has for the practising of combat arts. Do we appreciate what bruh said?.. "Its just Physics"!.. You better believe a true fighter knows this. But also chew on this one folks; Did you hear Jet Li's stating that he has "NEVER BEEN IN A REAL FIGHT"? That's right... So let's understand that a Martial Artist is potentially so many more things than one who is a fierce combatant or a kickass individual.
@caesarbasti195 жыл бұрын
Yea but he also has a very basic, simple and amateurish view of fighting sometimes. He thinks that some professional boxers can't jab because some don't throw a it the conventional way. An intelligent fighter also knows that doing everything by the book also limits you as an martial artist. There are many different jabs to throw depending on the situation and what type of outcome you're looking for (flicker jab for example).

Yeah but watch the video when he schools Kimbo Slice on the art of fighting behind the scenes of a movie they did. Kimbo was a brawler and Mike was schooling him on fighting.
@caesarbasti195 жыл бұрын
@@deegeebarxx3391 Kimbo was being humble. He would beat Mike in a real fight inside and outside of the ring. Technique is important but it isn't everything. The greatest fighters always do something different. Once you're professional you can get away with stuff.
