Mixed martial arts as being mainstream is new, maybe less then 20 years. Only Bruce Lee popularized with mma by Jeet Kune Do cause before that each discipline thought their arts is better then the other. That's deep. One of my favorite books "The Book of Five Rings" encourages one learns about other paths of life in order to develop balance. The path of a warrior must be two fold. He must not only be a warrior, but develop his intellect too. He must also study the way of the artist or even the merchant. Michael Jai White is an example of that balance.
@tortillasarenotbiceps76223 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind that many fighters fight because that's what they're accustomed to. They grew up in a rough environment that forced them to fight or die. So this mentality of roughhousing doesn't always end inside a ring, but rather carries on to all aspects of their lives. Fight or flight becomes the end-all, be-all when a given circumstance arises that forces their backs against the wall. That can extend to every relationship that involves conflict be it man-to-man or man-to-woman. It can end very badly when unstable mindsets are unable to distinguish the context between friend or foe.

I'm a big time combat sports fan, and not a single lie was told here. There are a lot of fighters who don't just fight because they have a passion for it, but also because they don't think there's anything else they can be successful doing. MJW is obviously not one of those people, so fighting for a living is a lot less appealing to him. He definitely has a deep interest in it, so the best way for him to experience it was to be adjacent to the lifestyle, which he had the means to do with high level fighters. That way he gets a front row seat without any of the drawbacks. Prize fighting is lot of risk, a lot of suffering, and not enough reward for all but a handful of fighters. You really have to love it (or be crazy) to offset all the negatives involved with being a fighter. Takes a different mindset most people don't have. And I love how Tito always has his laundry list of injuries ready to throw out. He needs that so he can cue up the excuses after he loses fights haha.

Unless you have a brand, social media following or the mcgregor effect happen to you, it’s a ruff business. No union , nobody overlooking the wellness of the fighters. It’s just like wwe in that they treat their athletes like slave. You only can fight or perform for me, but you don’t receive medical benifits, no expenses paid, so these guys invest all their fight money back into fighting and can never get ahead. I kno they choose this life but there has to be some compensation moving forward . They make the ufc a billion dollar entity and do not wreak the rewards.

If Michael fought in the UFC, he would have been a world champion. He made the right choice of self development over glory.

All because he chose acting instead of fighting doesnt mean he can’t fight on that same level

That’s almost exactly what that means if he’s never been in mma fights he probably can’t fight on the same level as guys that have.

Silverback Kennels Lol how do I know this? Cause he admits he’d gas in a fight like he gassed in the first round sparring with Bisping. Maybe if he took a whole year or 2 to condition himself and he starts from the bottom level opponents then yes he can hang in there. He definitely knows how to fight but competitive fighting is a whole different ball game from just doing a couple Kumite competitions

Sparring and training pro fighters isn't the same as actually fighting one of em live under the lights ya egomaniac

@@mikehoncho8896 yea like he gives off this energy like he wants everyone to respect him and put him in a category for " Great fighter/martial artists " Lol.. And he's not that, he didn't live that life. It's great he's studyied fighting all his life etc, that's awesome.. But he's an actor not a real fighter.

@@josephbanker3829 ...if he was bad as he n other people make him to be he would have made millions fighting. He trained n "practied" martial arts I get it, but for him to shit on real fighters n him only "fighting" point competition in his teens is laughable. His "fighting" career was one level above those karate routine competitions n a level below daniel son vs cobra kai....

Exactly. Its disrespectful to real fighters. He trains and thats cool but trying to get the clout without having ever competed in real combat makes you sound full of shit.

MJW is a hell of a martial artist, but to be an MMA fighter it's much more different. It's like a classically trained dancer vs a freestyle dancer. MJW is great to fight another martial artist, for film or to defend himself

Im struggling to say hed win against any welterweight in the top 5,hes bigger so he has an advantage there but kamaru usman,whittaker,israel,yoel romero,paula Costa and jared cannonier all would have their way with him. @@Cinemavigilante I agree but I think this is even generous to MJW. The guy is 52 now with no professional experience, he isnt beating anybody ranked.

There are hella dudes that know Muay Thai, BJJ, Wrestling, and American Boxing that never fought in the UFC, Bellator, K1, or Pride. Just because someone isn’t an entertainer doesn’t mean they’re not a fighter.
