Part 3: • John Salley: Kobe Told...
Part 1: • John Salley on His Mom...
----------
In this clip, John Salley opened up about receiving the news about Kobe Bryant dying in a helicopter crash on Sunday, January 26, 2020. John Salley emotionally expressed how much Kobe meant to him and how this loss impacted him in ways only a select few losses have touched him. He spoke about reaching out to old teammates and how the tragedy deepened after learning about Gianna and the other children on board.

You black women arent looking for no strong man of principle, wisdom or guidance or whatever bluff you’re claiming. Neither are men like Kobe foolish enough to chance themselves with you. Thinking black men with high intellect who are patriarchal and desire non feministic feminine females know better than to take the modern liberal western female serious. His wife was Mexican and allowed the man to be the leader, teacher, protector he’s supposed to be; while you idiots have been slandering the man since his passing. All because he made a rather logical investment building a family with his Mexican wife.

Bruce Taylor Exactly.......unfortunately, that’s why men are walking away, especially from western females with the power they are given. They use it, and further program the females, disrespect/destroy the male spouse, then create soft matriarchal hyper emotional, illogical males.

Then, hearing his daughter on the plane just makes you paralyzed with Sadness. The other beautiful people on the helicopter that lost there life just adds more pain. As we all say life is too short. ***** EXACTLY !!! ****** If the cops won't fly for an EMERGENCY - Then WHO as an air traffic controller should be telling the pilot - it IS safe to be go there. I don't care HOW safe the pilot was and how many pilots this pilot trained.... NTSB & Air traffic controllers need to change that across the nation or get their pants sued off. *** THIS WAS COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE *** & There lies the massive tradegy of it all ... ALL THOSE BEAUTIFUL LIVES CUT SHORT Because fog & mountains don't mix... ask Patsy Cline. Don't mess with mother nature - she is a bitch and wins EVERYTIME. If that pilot had only said - regardless of air traffic control- I'm downing the helicopter - It is TOO foggy to continue & NOT safe to fly - we will Uber you all from here.. IF ONLY. ( In Life ~ missing a basketball practice or game or being late- or only being paid for half the flight is NO tradegy ).

To some degree, I wasn't too surprised at Michael Jackson's death, the media fucked with him so much, I surprised he didn't commit suicide. Then every once and while, you would hear rumors that Michael Jackson is being rushed to the hospital. That day they said he was dying or dead, I assumed it was another rumor till all TV networks confirmed it. Before the autopsy, I assumed it had to be drug related. Dude was using anesthetic drip meds to sleep, because of severe insomnia. A friend of mine who had surgery, they gave propifol, and said just a little bit of that knocks you right out. He said its so strong, you feel like closed your eyes for a second and don't realize who long you were out for.

You're not lying. I just woke up from an all nighter with some friends. We saw Kobe's message to LeBron about breaking his record from our phones. Cool. Next day waking up at 2pm, grabbed my phone went to the kitchen to get a bite to eat and then my phone buzzed saying "Breaking News:Kobe Bryant Died In Helicopter Crash. We'll update this story as soon as it develops". I went "What The Fuck, wait a minute" I had to read that 4 or 5 times to see if this shit was real. Then my Dad called. Now when Dad calls, you know it's true. Then the friends I hung out the night before called in shock. We like "didn't he reached out to LeBron to congratulate him hours before?". it blew our mind. This shit hurt like someone just hit you with a baseball to the gut. And 2020 is just get started. Shaking my head.

For some odd reason, I didn't touch my phone that entire Sunday. My mom called me and told me Kobe died in a helicopter crash. My first thought was I hope his children wasn't with him. Then she said his daughter was with him and broke down. The public display of love he showed his family was one thing, but the love he had for Gigi was in a class of its own. The bond was so strong, they left the world together. Haven't felt sadness like that for a celebrity ever! I'm still traumatized.

The most shocking thing about Kobe’s death was the sudden spring of the news. With MJ, they had a chance to bring him back as his death was only drugged induced and they just had to get his heart back working. With Kobe, he was gone right off the back, died in a fiery flight accident, no time to hope he pulls through.

The Aaliyah reference is the closest situation i can relate this to, its just all so tragic. One thing I do want to correct though at 7:21, even though neither one of us were there, Im certain (years of research) Aailyah didnt personally pressure that pilot to take off KNOWING the plane was overloaded. There were handlers and executives all around her whose jobs were to handle those details. Her job was to complete the Rock the Boat video which she completed and did quite well. I had to say something because your platform is to big to put out mis-characterizations like that. It almost insinuates that she "deserved" that fate or "had it coming" because she pressured the pilot into a unsafe situation. And that's NOT what happened. Sorry, I had to digress.

4 жыл бұрын
Of course it's not strange. That's basically the concept of heroes. I don't know why this concept is foreign to you, but certain public figures and influential people have always gained admirers because of their accomplishments and their positive values. In the case of Kobe it's his great work ethic, always learning, always being focused, a never-give-up mentality, and after he retired, being a devoted dad and just being a very inquisitive and intelligent person overall. These values don't stop being admirable just because you don't know him personally. That's a very shallow way of looking at things. People look up to heroes, identify with them, emulate them, and root for them, and want them to do well. And when they die, people feel sad. That's why heroes and influential figures are remembered even by millions of people who don't know them personally. Otherwise we wouldn't have things like Martin Luther King Day, or Christmas.
@benrush7090
@benrush7090 4 жыл бұрын
@ probably for this reason. why take it so defensively when you didn't even know Kobe yourself? it's not shallow to say that getting upset over someone you have never met is strange. to play devils advocate Kobe did cheat on his wife & some people even push the rape thing. we have to be very careful about worshipping these people, it creates a false reality in a lot of cases. i haven't cried once when a celebrity has passed & believe me i've probably read more biographies than just about anybody. But he wasn't part of my family or friendship circle.
