5:07 I had to replace one of my axles too. In fact it was the one on the same side the lift was on. Cost me $314 too. I'd be driving down the highway / road and would hear sounds too. I brought it to a repair shop and the guy told me. Its a good thing you had this looked at. And i remember him saying that my axle was slowly beginning to get cut into. It had a ring around it where you could see it was slowly being cut in half. Now i know what to listen for, For the most part. I hope i don't hear that sound again.

Hi there, I found this video blog very interesting because in 2015 I was seriously considering buying a Bounder, I gone so far as getting a quote it was in the region of about US$44,000 that included absolutely everything just about that you could throw at the wheelchair as far as seating options went. I was also at that time looking at a Frontier V6 all-terrain! I know you have 1 of these :-). Well, to cut a long story short; I decided on the Frontier because it had a dealer in New Zealand where I reside. The freight cost to get a bounder to NZ was to be around US$3000. Owning a Frontier yourself and, having tried a bounder - I'm curious what you think of the bounder? I'm intrigued by the change drive and the lithium batteries! How did you find there controller? It's a little bit different isn't it. Are you still considering purchasing a bounder? I'd love to hear your feedback

I think it's so awesome that you guys have this technology available to you now to make your lives more convenient, increase your mobility, and just have fun going that fast in your chair. However, I find it absolutely disgusting that medical device companies charge SOOOO much money for their products. Things that people NEED to simply live their life. I know people that have waited YEARS to get a prosthetic or to save up for a decent chair. Or even the price of those gel cushions for your seat. Nothing but pure greed at its finest. I don't want any industry people coming on here talking a bunch of ish about, "well, research and development, blah, blah, blah...we don't move enough units to bring down the cost, wah, wah, wah,..." Don't patronize. You could buy 2 base model brand new vehicles for the price of that chair. I understand that Ford moves a lot of units, but you can't say that that makes up for the astronomical difference in price. They charge that much because they know they can because people NEED these devices to try and live a happy, normal life. Same reason 1 bag of chemotherapy medicine costs $25,000. It makes me literally sick to my stomach sometimes. Keep having fun and keep making videos man!

on most of the C-series chairs - the speed is set by mechanical limits.. i think those chairs are 5MPH at the most. that's all the 24 volt motors and gearboxes are capable of... its possible to swap in the newer 6.5 mph motors.. but it takes some modification of the plastics, and the neutral lever/brake disconnects wouldn't work anymore :^/

@TotallyNormal-5 жыл бұрын
hey! so "most" electric motors can be run at higher voltage.. unless they're brushless.. then there's a bit more involved.. BUT modifications like this require an aftermarket motor controller.. if you can find different gears, or maybe just larger tires, sometimes you can get a little bit more speed. BUT you have to get up to 36, 42, or 48 volts if you REALLY wanna liven up a chair! not gonna lie though.. it can get expensive, and time consuming to do this type of thing. I don't have a parts list right now for this type up upgrade.. but i hope in the future to build "speed upgraded" chairs, and / or maybe sell kits so people can do it themselves.. but that's a ways off in the future.. good luck out there!

Hi Dan, thank you for the video; which led me to your channel videos. There is lots of good stuff there, thanks. I found you do to searching for the right power chair for me because I have a rare disease that will soon have me wheelchair-bound. I ran across a guy in the UK who has a blog about building his own Powerchairs. He explains his builds in detail. His latest build put together 78 Lithium batteries for more power, less weight, longer life, A Roboteq Controller to run 48 volts to the motors for high speed (16 mph), more torque, and long-distance (45 miles). He also uses an RC remote controller connected to the Roboteq controller so he can test, move his chairs, and even walk his dog from the warmth of his car. I believe he is worth checking out if you haven’t already. I wouldn't post his link without your permission. I want a powerchair with good capabilities on-road and off-road but I can't afford the cost of one, so I will probably purchase a good quality used chair and upgrade to my desires. Thanks again for the videos and let me know if you want the UK guy's link.

welcome to the club! hopefully the transition to chair life isnt too disturbing.. (poor attempt at humor lol - dont worry, you're not alone in all of this!) but yes - we're all aware of "the guy in the uk" lol ill leave it at that for now :^) are you going to be needing a full rehab chair with seating functions? or just a basic power chair?
@TubeRLH3 жыл бұрын
@@TotallyNormal-, Thank you for your reply. I won't need a rehab therapy chair, just something to get me down to the river through 100 yards of dips, rocks, and some sand that I declined a few weeks ago because I knew I couldn't do on my own anymore. I have Kennedy Disease; my muscles are wasting away. I can still walk, and function around the house for now, but getting weaker each day. If I walked 200 feet and turned around to walk back, I may collapse from weakness before I got back. If I rest for an hour afterward I could maybe do another 100 feet. When I’m working in my garage, I mostly use a stool with casters to last the day. I built an Airplane back in 2011-2013 and flew it for about 8 months before I was feeling too weak to safely do what was necessary to maintain it and fly it. I kept it for another 4 years or so until the Doctors finally diagnosed me with Kennedy Disease, and I won't get better. I sold my Airplane which was part of my soul. Now I try to fill my day with stool scooting projects. That's why your Channel caught my attention as it looks like you do the same thing, no offense intended. I would like to know more about the UK guy, I wouldn’t want to end up with dead-end upgrades that I waste money on. Please advice.
