In part 3 we continue by troubleshooting the fuel pump relay and that leads us to suspect a bad ECM. The designation for the fuel pump relay is K27 and it resides under the back seat on this E210 Estate.

I’m sure everything will work out. Well done! For one thing I’d recommend getting a shop grade scan tool. Granted they’re pricey (about 500-1000 bucks), but it’ll be worth having that for any car. A bi directional tool that allows you to toggle and switch stuff on/off is one to save up for. Thanks for the video!

@@ImpalamansGarage The brand autel has some very nice offerings that won’t break the bank. I personally was looking at the Autel MaxiDAS DS808 and 808TS. These seem to have all the diagnostic stuff their more pricier ones have for under $800. Good luck.

Crankshaft position sensor behind the engine - you're done the replacement. There's another crank sensor in front - I have a W210 too and come across the similar issue before. I did the replacement for both. Meanwhile, I remembered (not sure if it's relating) got replacement for coolant temperature, MAP sensors too. Prior to this jobs, I did the K40 relay replacement for both engine and rear seat. Almost 90% done, just crank again while running the engine say 1 hours, stop for lunch etc, then come back, it crank a few more seconds but would definitely start. Finally, I go for fuel filter replacement (not pump) and checked it is super dirty and this filter was since 2004. Now the condition is very good, definitely start, just say 1 outta 10 start may a few more seconds crank longer. Otherwise, it start right away.

A straight-forward test for fuel pump function is to put a fuel pump pressure gauge on the engine bay fuel rail Schraeder valve, easily accessible. It would have told you the fuel pump was not developing pressure.

Very true. Lesson learned. The problem in the end was improper installation of the new pump by your's truly. I left the little cap on the end of it. It was made out of translucient plastic and I did not see if when I pulled the pump out of the box while under the car. Another lesson that is hard learned is to always inspect your parts immediately upon arrival.

@@ImpalamansGarage Yeh, I read that in your other post. Now I just have to figure out why my E320 Wagon keeps burning out fuel pumps, pita when it's one's daily driver.

Huge fan of your channel! I have a 2001 e320 wagon and experienced an odd stumble/rough running condition with a new Crank sensor. Turned out the cam sensor was the culprit. I’ve had unexplained electrical issues and one was caused by plastic wire sheaths failing near the engine harnesses on the front and rear areas. Can’t wait to see what happens! Good luck!

Quick Lil MacGyver move you could run a separate line from the pump with a fuse and toggle in line to the battery see if that works.

I've sold this car but the fix was in fact the new pump. The problem was that I did not remove the little plastic cover over the output of the new pump when I installed it. 🤣🤣

@@ImpalamansGarage you slipped the hose over the plastic piece you're saying? Now it works fine I can't figure mine out for the life of me and it f*cking runs then after 10 mins or so it shuts off then you wait like 2 3 hrs and it will do the same thing. Can anyone please 🙏 help me with this it's my dad's car and it's taking up alot of my time when I need to work on my own truck.

The scan tool will help you find the problem in your E210,if you decide to keep it.

I'm having the same issue with my 00 e320 4matic changed the pump, filter coil packs. Mine will start after it sits for a bit but my fuel pump don't turn on all the time for some odd reason and I can't find the issue. I'm going to Try that jumper tip and see if that works.

The jumper did turn on the pump so the pump works. That's a start. It's like the pump works when it wants or only when it's cold.

I might pull the egr line and see if it's clogged or not tomorrow and possibly throw plugs in it. I just had it scanned and it said misfire cylinder 2&5.. needs plugs and wires.

I always wondered why Mercedes techs were bald. There we go got my answer, it was not hereditary they pulled it all out.

@@ImpalamansGarage i totally understand. Come Monday my own quest to repair a w164 starts. I hope it's a 1 and done deal. Otherwise it will get scrapped too.

Yes it's OBDII. The cutt-off date for OBDI to OBDII transition in the U.S. was in the mid 90s.

@@TheCanadianBubba I have a simple code reader. Last time I checked they were just lean condition bla bla..... same thing that came up a few years ago and it was cracked PCV hoses which I replaced. There was an EGR code as well now that I recall. There was nothing that said holy cow your computer is fried... or would prevent the car from starting. Now of course I could have missed something. We'll see what the repair shop says. I am curious to know what they find, if anything.
