VLOG 84, Narrowboat Fit Out - PAINTING HATCH DOORS

Hello everyone, This is the second video put out today. We have had a couple of weeks off from editing. We had lots of friends come to visit and we have had 8 days away with Millie and Reggie. The break has been great. In this episode you get to see us painting the hatches and get a feel of how Wanderlust will look once painted. Hope you enjoy 👍

Thankyou. hahahaha I have him trained well. We are both really enjoying painting the boat. Taking our time and breaking it down into sections has been so much easier than trying to get the whole thing painted in one go. 👍

Glad to hear you had a nice break and it was for pleasure. Love the painting so much. The talent you two have seems to have no end in sight. After this video you can start a side business painting on narrow boats and other items. So looking forward to seeing everything finished but will definitely miss these videos. Love that you will own your boat out right I’m sure it’s a huge relief not having debt. Thankyou Susan. Yes we are trying to finish the boat without having anything to owe on it. It's a bit of a slower way to do it but will be worth it in the end. Just a few more of the expensive stuff to purchase now. Still plenty of work to do so we will be around for a while 👍

Wow! what a fantastic paint job. You may well be using traditional diamonds but the colour definitely isn't, I really love it. Mind you the traditional barge painters would have done theirs freehand!!! It's up to you ofcourse but personally whenever I've painted a complicated design, like your map, I've always gone over it with clear varnish. It's so easy to damage those delicate edges over time.

Thankyou, Yes we are really pleased with the colour it works so well. Yes we think we are going to seal it with a varnish once its been on a few weeks and is cured properly. Needs a few touches up and a bit of a sand in some areas where it bled through but pleased with how it turned out 👍

Funny enough I had a small business many years ago designing and making fancy dress costumes called Harlequin. Perhaps its always stuck with me 👍

Really great work you are both very talented. I cant wait to see you guys cursing, from what I watch I think you will both love the life and are suited to it and I think your experiences (just living and also exploring) will produce some really great vlogs. Question......who are your influencers on KZbin, who do you watch?

Thankyou Gary. Yes we both know we are going to love it on the water 👍. Influencers - When we were both thinking about a boat as we traveled around Australia we watched Colin Jaques building his boat on youtube and also the youtube channel Christine and the buoys. Both are no longer vlogging but they both swayed us in the right direction to give the self building a go ourselves and to document it so others could see if it would be good for them or not. Now we don't get too much time to watch lots but do always watch 'Nogun Wales', Andy is a very clever man and we love to watch his workmanship. Our favourite channels are not Narrowboats but are boat building 'Sampson Boat Co' is amazing and we are really enjoying 'Project Brupeg' . If you have not seen them give them a try from the beginning 👍
