Hey Ruby! Congrats on finishing up your semester. I'm actually starting my first semester at NJCU Wall next week. So exciting lol I've been watching some of your older vids and I'm going to be taking the same classes! Do you have any tips/advice/ insight on what the professors expectations are, what to prepare for, or a heads up on what the program entails? Would love to hear it from a soon-to-be alum :)

Congrats on starting next week! As far as professors, they switch around professors for different subjects. My favorites are Mahoney, Wright, and Scardaville, Branchizio is cool too. All of the other ones aren't that great to me. If you do have Mahoney, she loves papers, group projects, and she will call on you during class. If you want my honesty, this program isn't my favorite. There is always last minute info being given in regards to our schedule and deadlines, unorganization, and if we complain about something they blame Covid or somehow find a way to blame us. I don't want to scare you but definitely you have to mentally prepare yourself to get through it

@@TheNursingJewel thanks for the realness. TBH, I've already seen some early signs of the disorganization and also noticed a very huge lack of communication with the department with things even as simple as responding to emails. I think I got lucky with my cohort though because I often find a lot of the students responding to each other just to clarify what is even going on and what we need. They're all really helpful. I've heard about other programs around the area from friends & coworkers, but I think they more or less have the same issues. Maybe because it's an accelerated program? I'm just more nervous about the difficulty of the coursework
@TheNursingJewel3 жыл бұрын
@@knov8224 Yeah we have a cohort group chat as well to help each other stay on top of things. The coursework isn't too difficult depending on who teaches the course. For Funds I had branchizio, the material itself isn't hard but her exams are. I'm not sure what other classes you're taking since our schedule was different from the norm. I would say the only difficult part was the amount of readings and the types of questions on some of the exams.

@@TheNursingJewel I have gero, funds & funds lab , patho, health assessment & health assessment lab. Unfortunately I dont have any of the profs you mentioned. lol so I guess I'll see how that goes. How were your clinicals? We go in for our first semester after the first six weeks
@TheNursingJewel3 жыл бұрын
@@knov8224 do you have Ruggiero, Ephraim, or ho-shing? Your clinical experience really depends on your clinical instructor and what they'll allow you to do. Some want you to get your hands on everything, and some don't want you to do anything med/treatment wise without them being there. The hospital staff also can make or break your experience. I've had great clinical instructors and experiences so far. Also, sites depend on what Dr. J can get so some people have gone to jersey city, New Brunswick, Neptune, and Tom's River.

How long are your breaks between each semester?
@TheNursingJewel3 жыл бұрын
We don't have a break between spring and summer semester. Our longest was winter break where we had a month off

Each school has a different set of requirements, check out the ones that you're interested in and see what they ask for. It may seem a lot at first but it's not that bad
