I met Efren about 10 years ago. He came to a pool hall in my area. He played 9 ball with everyone. He let you break. But if you didn't make any balls in or missed a shot, he ran the rest of the table. I think 1 person beat him out of pure luck. A legend at its finest. Love watching him play. Very nice quiet guy too. Siming Chen is very good too. Thanks for posting. Love watching great pool games.

Check out 15:42, when Efren Reyes predicts where the cue ball will end up after deflecting off the target ball and then hitting five cushions. The cue ball stops right where he predicts. That takes top knowledge, experience, and skill. He is an amazing player.

Read the record books on Harold Worst. Then see if you think efren is the GOAT. Harold was a world champion 3 cushion billard player. Never played pocket billiards till he was 32. Won a english snooker tour title. Having never played it before. And won the world all around title at the stardust hotel in the 60's 3 or 4 months before he died of brain cancer at 36 years old....among many other titles in 4 years of playing pocket billards. Efren is one one the greats to ever play. But of all time ....i don't think so. Much respect for Efren though!

TheeOneUp I disagree. The only advantage Earl has over Efren in nineball is his break. Efren plays better safety's and kicks better and in my opinion plays better position. Although it doesn't prove it outright, Efren did beat Earl in "the colour of money challenge" in a race to 120.

I've played with him. He was at Shooters Billiards in Southington, Connecticut, USA for a about a month. He might even return for a couple more weeks!!! He just loves messing around and playing for fun. Never takes the game serious, but somehow manages to be the best at it.

Efren still has it. I used to play at Efren's uncle pool hall in Manila and when Efren is there, he would teach some of us on what we did wrong in shooting the ball.... well, everything is wrong lol so I ended up just watching him play. When I move to LA, I still try to watch his tournaments and even in Vegas. But during cash games, Efren was a nervous wreck when he's playing with his own money but not when there are some backers to support him just like when he's hustlin some servicemen in Clark Air Base. lol

When I young and started to watch efren play at year 90's, I thought billiard in first place was easy but no it dont :), And Also many players at there best but when it come to play safety no ones has ever try insanely like he do, all they do was jump ball to just escape bad shot. They always not try use the rail. They affraid what may happen and tired imagining in crucial moment including.pressure. But.efren just playing it in excitement and thrill. He dont care what.may happen he just followed what he imagined on his mind and showed it well on us. Thats why he is the unfair of billiard games. Blessed in skill of creative mind. Efren has a good heart. In the philippines, he take easy on his playmates and even let them win in non-tournament games. After watching this video, it proves that even against a world champion, he still give her an easy play in a non-tournament game. Good effort from Siming tho but Efren respects her by not letting her win an easy play or give her the W. She will now understand the gaps of their level and probably make her practice even more. Efren Reyes, or the magician, did not gain his exquisite and unique proficiency from nothing. He started playing pool since he was 8 y/o and now he's 65 y/o (dated today) which means he has been playing pool for 57 years (born August 26, 1954). Efren has mastered the entire pool table angles, strikes force, unimaginable control and precision on the cue ball, and a very high self-confidence with absolutely no vanity (He's very humble and friendly by the way). Two more things about Efren Reyes, he has never underestimated any opponent, and he has never neglected the calculation of any hit no matter how easy the ball is. God bless Efren Bata Reyes.

Yes that is because we are all getting old. I was explaining to my wife today that as we age we lose our ability at sight and coordination. We think of billiards and darts as simple games but a world class player will diminish in ability over time. Bata still can beat most of us ordinary players. I have had the opportunity to play in the Philippines. They have great players.

I think he was playing the smart pattern. He was trying to break those balls out and hook her trying to get the ball back for a easier clearance. Siming made a great jump.
