The black mantle is stunning! Love it. I must, however, HIGHLY recommend you move all books from with “sparks range” of the wires and outlet. I work for a law firm that was founded on fire insurance coverage so I’ve heard some stories. Please don't paint your fireplace the black looks unique. Put a combination of pictures framed and mirrors framed up under it. Different lengths and widths will look good. And, it's a decorative way to cover plugs and cords.

In the 90's Victoria Secret used to be all about the romantic Victorian era. You could by books of poetry, cassette tapes of classical music and vintage style poet shirts. Long silk robes with matching gowns in soft pastel colors were things of my dreams for my wedding night. One years all the romance of the secrets of romantic love turned into just and public display women in bras and thongs. My heart 😢 broke when you could no longer buy books of English gardens, poems and classical music.

Decorating 💡 for your faux fireplace. Maybe look into floating shelves so your books aren't just in the floor. They have a kind where you can stack your books up, spine facing out and they are just floating there. The mount is hidden by the books

I just came across your channel....loving it. Love the French antique style paired with modern for an eclectic design! Your fireplace is beautiful in the black. I'd probably keep it, but I can see where it could be painted a darker tan, then white washed or buffed over to highlight the details! But I love the black...kinda moody. The stacked books are a fun idea too. Or when you're tired of the stacked books, maybe a mirror behind...underneath with tons of white or cream candles in different heights for a beautiful reflection to resemble an actual take on a fireplace. I feel like you should paint it if you want to. If i had that piece i would paint it cream or white and have the accents as gold/gold leaf. It's my main go to for painting anyway. It makes it airy and beautiful. I have a mirror that is very ornate and it was black. Painted it white with gold leaf and added blue, pink, and green...its so much better and fits my style more~ also if you dont like it, you can always remove paint. Its not permanent ✨️

Pinterest has a lot of fireplace mantel ideas. Suggestion: Consider keeping the mantle black and live with it for a while. Get a faux brick wall panel and insert into the fireplace opening (it will cover the cords and give it a more realistic effect). You can use the books, candle, mirrors, wood logs, or plants in the opening/hearth!

I was thinking that you could take gold paint and rub it on to the raised elements to help the features stand out a little bitand could help to tie that piece to other pieces that have gold in them. The side table looked like it was a nice complementary piece to it as well.

The frame is Rococo, not Art Deco. Both styles are so beautiful but hundreds of yrs apart. Rococo would be in Marie Antoinette's day. Lots of gilding & ornate. Art deco was obsessed with geometric shapes & Egyptian motifs.
