Man, you have my compassion on the struggles. I just found your channel, and just so you know, Cambodia info aside, your warmth and walks and insights all add to the satisfaction in my day. Best to ya.

Thank you so much. It's nice to know that I am also a part of the recipe for the content I create. I forget sometimes that folks enjoy what I say almost as much as what I am seeing. Thank you.

@@FrugalWanderer Well the content too. I'm coming to terms with the US economy vs my retirement and doing the research. You've been a big help there as well. Just seeing the comfort level you and other expats there project gives me some confidence about it.

I came here mostly for an extended vacation and loved it so much I decided to stay.

@@FrugalWanderer I can get that. I'm not well traveled outside the US, but I have fallen in love with some places. I live Spartan and try to absorb the moments. Some places give a lot of moments.

I hope you enjoy your first trip to Siem Reap and find it as enjoyable as I do. Chiang Mai is still on my list of places to visit. I'll get there sometime next year.

Sean, the medication that you are mentioning, albendazole, is usually fine. It does, however, very commonly raise levels of a certain liver enzyme that is asymptomatic in nature. Multiple dosing of albendazole in people who encounter this asymptomatic effect can lead to liver damage. It's not a common effect, however in places where albendazole is commonly used without much consideration, like India, occurrences of liver damage due to this drug is a well-known issue. This drug is controlled and only can be obtained by prescription in many countries due to this hepatic hypersensitivity syndrome that it can cause. A simple liver enzyme blood panel can determine if you are likely to encounter such an effect. The take away - yeah this drug is usually fine, but when it goes wrong, the liver damage that it can cause is asymptomatic and you only know about it when you start having hepatitis like symptoms, and at this point irreversible damage has occurred and the best case scenario from there is that you adjust to live with the irreversible liver injury. Worse case, liver transplants have been recorded in India solely due to liver failure due to this drug. Use caution, this drug is not for everyone and the advice should be to start this drug on medical advice and not treat it like an innocuous pill that has no downsides.

Good to know and not surprising that the cure could be worse than the ailment. I'll look into it further. Thank you

Hey Sean. Glad you're feeling better. I'm happy that you are enjoying your coconut coffee. I like almost everything... but can't stand coconut! lol Maybe that's a bad thing as I'm considering retiring in Siem Reap! lol
@FrugalWanderer25 күн бұрын
So here's a little known fact. I hated coconut back home in Canada. The shredded coconut or the overwhelming coconut flavour in things was disgusting for me. Then I came here and that changed. Fresh coconut tastes nothing like back home and I have grown to love it. Maybe you will as well.
