I had a horrible case of mono last year, I literally had every medical symptom + more all at the same time and I thought I was literally going to die and was terrified to sleep because I thought i'd stop breathing or drowned because I couldn't swallow my own saliva. So thank god you don't seem to atleast have it that bad. It does suck though, your boyfriend probably already has it too. You'll just be extremely tired. Antibiotics don't do anything so I have no idea why the dr would put you on.

i don't know why you are on antibiotics...mono is a virus, it's not bacterial. i would talk to your doctor about that because it is really not a good idea to be on antibiotics when it's not necessary. she probably gave it to you thinking you had strep or something. i hope you feel better! i had mono a few years ago, and i have never been so sick in my life..actually wanted to die, i felt so horrible. hope you have a speedy recovery, get lots of rest!

Mono is where, you get headaches, swollen glands as you said... I just got Diagnosed for mono yesterday at the emergency room at my local hospital... All you can do is take either Advil... I hope you feel better. Time and rest is the only thing you can do. Big tip!!!! DO NOT PLAY ANY CONTACT SPORTS!! OR PLAY AROUND!!

I think you can get Mono other ways than exchanging spit or bodily fluids because I was diagnosed with Mono in 4th grade and I certainly wasn't kissing anyone back then eep! Hope you feel better soon.

hey Sarah! I don't want to contradict anything your doctor told you, but if you've got mono (infectious mononucleosis), then antibiotics would be ineffective as this is caused by a virus, not a bacteria. It's usually self-limiting, and therefore anti-virals may not even be necessary, though drugs to get your fever and pain down will help. Make sure you're resting and getting plenty of fluids, eating vitamin-rich fruits, basically helping your immune system as much as possible! Get well soon! xo

that sucks! but you can also get mono from being overly stressed or someone in a bus or something. Get well, rest a lot, drink enough water and eat enough as well :)

Also drink like literally about 30 glasses of water a day. Symptoms: Fever, Cold shots like mad shivering, rash, swollen glands, discoloured tongue which occurs from dehydration (mine turned a really gross blue, green and yellow while I had it.), loss of appetite, may have flu like symptoms ie) vomiting, exhaustion and i think that's most of it. Let's just hope you are healthy and your body is able to cope really well with it! Sorry to hear the news :(

do not exercise! especially lifting weights. for at least two weeks you must do nothing but rest. if you push your body too much while you have mono it could rupture your spleen. I missed exercise too, but take advantage of this time to get better! I repeat, do not workout lol

This is not a scary movie, but it is a spectacular one that I am pretty sure you would enjoy. It is called Another Earth(ItsJillStriff talks about the movie on her channel) I watched in online and all that jazz. I hope you feel better!

I had mono (or glandular fever as it's known in the UK - ew! Very typically British and literal!) when I was a young girl. No kissing was involved in me getting it! Hope you get better soon, have lots of naps, take echinacea, drink herb tea, eat well, take long hot Kniepp herbal baths, rub your neck with lavender oil xxx

Hell, it is horrible. A lot of my friends did have mono. The problem is that it can actually stay a very long time. But of course i hope you get better soon.

my brother had mono for 6 months.. but that's because he refused to stop playing soccer and practicing EVERY DAY! so, my tips is just to take it easy. i would also recommend telling your friends, that you have shared a drink with, to get tested, cause you can have it, and spread it, without having any symptoms yourself... i probarbly had it when my brother was sick, but i got it ad a light cold.. so you can get it really searious, or just like some caughing.. :) hope you get better soon

Someone can be a carrier of mono and not show symptoms, but they can still transmit it to others, so maybe that's how you got it. I hope you get better! Just make sure you get a lot of rest to help your immunity. Here are some scary movies: Trick-R-Treat, The Descent, Shutter (Thai version from 2004).

Im so sorry youre sick Sarah! I went through mono earlier this year in the spring. It was pretty awful, but dont worry it wont last forever. My advice, get yourself a good heating pad because the aches and pains can be kinda bad at times. I hope you get over it quick! best wishes xx

I had mono last year....it makes you verrrryyyy tired, so make sure you get lots of rest. You don't necessarily have to get it from someone. You can get mono from being rundown or overly stressed.

They are treatments to mono but there is no cute from it you will forever be immune to it ..... but you can still live a normal life XD and do things that make you happy and spend time with your loved ones all you have to do is be careful and mindful to not get too close or your loved ones can catch it I hope this helps XD

I have mono too its ridiculous us thought have gotten a lot of bad luck lately and I just was mad I actually don't kiss of anything I got it for putting my mouth on the school faucet to fet a drink from the fountain guess I know the things contaminated but I put my mouth on the sucky thing the teacher said bad idea I'm like ok and the doctor gave me Medicine it will go away within a month to few weeks I'm so upset I'm stuck a a therapeutic boarding school but I'm home till next Wednesday so hopefully it goes away soon I hope u feel better and all love to u always

Really all you can do is be extra healthy, exercise, eat well and sleep lots so that you get your heallth back sooner. Avoid kissing but I mean, living with your boyfriend he's probably got it already. Don't do crazy sports because your spleen will be swollen so it can rupture if you get any injury to your abdomen. And if your symptoms get really bad all you can really do is take ALOT of pain med and sleep it off. If at one point it gets horrible though you could have to go to the ER.

We call it glandular fever (I'm from the UK). Got this last christmas and I don't think anyone actually realises how bad it is! Literally couldn't get out of bed for so long. I had glands the same as yours a few months after. Once you've had it you're immune to it, but it can always flare up again and you get the same symptoms. Mine took 6 months to clear, you are susceptible to every illness so be careful! xxx

Good news is if you really kick mono's butt and eat well and sleep lots and exercise you should be much much better in about a month. As for being contagious, you'll just have to research and explain to people that you aren't contagious from breathing on them. Kissing, you are most contagious in the 6 weeks before you even have mono symptoms so unfortunately you may have already passed it on. haha and that is all my mono information :-) Get better!
