I would 100% sue them for the full moving cost plus the cost of left behind and damaged goods. They misrepresented themselves, having someone from Craig’s list is disgusting and unsafe. All the damaged property and left behind items is unacceptable. I would also report them to The Better Business Bureau. Hi Michel. I am so sorry you had such a bad moving experience. I’ve been in the moving industry for 30+ years. It’s tough to pin down good movers. Your best option is get references from people that you know that have moved. No move goes perfect. Somethings don’t travel well and they do break but your damage is quite extensive and from what I’m seeing watching your KZbin video right now definitely neglect by the crew in Texas. Absolutely file a claim. I am so sorry that this happened to you. There are some good movies out there and unfortunately people like whomever you used, give the entire profession a bad reputation. Another suggestion, is definitely write reviews on their website and yelp if you can. If you have a bad experience with a mover, you should definitely put the word out there.

I agree with others that say to sue. I literally gasped when I saw the travertine table, and I kept saying "AHH" out loud whenever you showed other stuff that was broken and the things they told you and then lied about (6 months training versus the craig's list ad). My daughter moved from MI to Utah and paid movers $5000 for 15 boxes and a couple pieces of furniture. It all got there in one piece including a large round vintage mirror. I couldn't believe how expensive it was for how little they moved but at least it was undamaged. I think you could recreate the other half of the coffee table. You are very crafty. You could find someone to buff out the chips of your dinning room table, too. Make it look like new again. ❤

Michel my heart is literally broken for you as someone who just moved recently it’s so hard & incredibly stressful and I literally only moved 30 minutes away in the same state. Definitely file a claim for every single thing even if you don’t get nearly as much back. And also, please write a review or have Jordy write a review, mention all of the steps that you tried to take to prevent things from happening and what happened anyway. This seems to be the common practice among moving companies. I just moved from CA to OR and literally the SAME thing happened to me! we were quoted a way lower price and then when they got to our house to load up the price sky rocketed by thousands of dollars and there is nothing you can do because you have to be out of the house! Michel! That moving company should face legal action, honestly. That's outrageous! Im so sorry about that and your poor shoulder! I've witnessed a lot of shoulder dislocations (my oldest son, both shoulders, seizures that destroyed the sockets) and know they are excruciating! I am sooo sorry this happened to you. We just moved from Seattle to Austin and after reading reviews, hearing horror stories, and talking to companies that seemed so scammy we opted to get a POD and load it ourself. It seemed like the only option which wasn’t a total scam. I pretty much have a negative opinion of all moving companies at this point. And I echo what everyone else says about getting your money back. Did you happen to pay by credit card? You might be able to do a charge back through the credit card company.

I never comment on videos but watching your moving experience just made me so sad. When I moved 500 miles I had a very similar experience, EVERY piece of furniture was damaged and I was just heartbroken. My furniture wasn’t expensive but it was all under a year old and I had to decide whether to keep damaged furniture or replace everything. If I had wanted all new furniture I would have sold my things and not spent thousands to move my stuff. I’m so sorry you had a similar experience, and I’m glad you shared it.

I could not overstate how horrible of an experience I had with them from start to finish - so everyone reading please please protect yourself!! I swear I have never heard a single person give a positive review of their experience with professional movers, but you are definitely was one of the worst I've heard. I have friends move from Oregon to Texas and it was a complete nightmare for them! They paid something like $15,000, and ended up not having their stuff for like 3 months and then lots of broken stuff and missing stuff and they got other people's stuff, too. I'm so impressed with how much you got done, especially with being injured! You have inspired me to do some organization around my house! Girl, such a horrible moving experience, i dont know how it works in US but in UK you buy insurance package that is added to the moving price and it covers possible damage to some extent. See if you had one in your papers, maybe it is there? About your kitchen, drawers are great for storage and so much more versatile than cupboards, so it looks like you will be fine ;) what i would do is put as much as i can away so it doent collect the dust and for the shelves i would probably keep decorative glasswear, plants, pretty cookbooks etc there, but not plates and daily used items, but hey, thats the beauty of owning a home- you make it how you like it ;) good luck ;)✌️

I feel so sorry for about the move and am really mad on your behalf! I’ve moved several times within Norway and Scotland as well as to and back from the UK and I’ve never had anything more than a wineglass break. What you have experienced is not normal and not ok. Wrapping furniture in shrinkwrap will mot prevent them from damage and breakage. You need moving blankets and lots of bubblewrap around each piece. Again, I’m so sad for you and all your lovely furniture. The way it turned out, you could’ve just sold everything and bought new in CA, since most things are damaged, and saved half the moving costs. And they have the audacity to charge you MORE than the quote, even though it’s all broken!!!!

I'm so sorry Michel! I totally understand how you feel. I have a moving horror story as well. The company I went through I don't even think is in business anymore but, they completely left everything that was in the bedrooms and kitchen so my husband and I were awake moving day until 6am the next day moving everything else in our car, 5 trips total an hour both ways, so like 10 hours of driving. Then we find that they broke a bookshelf, a box of glassware that says fragile, and they propped a fabric bag of linens against our heater and almost started the house on fire. Then they had the nerve to ask for more money! I sent them huge letter compliant and they dropped it but, it was a nightmare!

I totally get you… last weekend I bronchitis while I was moving my apartment from Atlanta to Charleston… loaded my pod and a UHaul, filled those, and still had boxes, a bunch of cube shelves, boards, my chest freezer, my vibration machine, my metal shelves…so we had to come back this weekend to rent another UHaul and load the rest…oh and we are on the third floor… So I wish you all the best… hope your arm feels better quickly

You’re like my first born who would wait until she had a fever of 105 to say “I just don’t feel that great” so I always know that when she SAYS she doesn’t feel good she’s really really sick. I moved 2500+ miles with a ubox that I packed myself thoroughly because I don’t trust movers. I made sure everything was in there safe and secure. Anything not covered in your claim can/ should be taken to small claims court. It is a small fee to file and have them served. File in Texas, if the Vegas based company does not show you will win. You can have a parent or attorney be at small claims on your behalf in Texas.

Michel I was in a similar moving experience story at the end of 2020. I had to get my next door neighbour to come in and supervise the movers as we had to be on our flight back to where we were going. I had assume they would pack the beds up for us, duh stupid me. Then I get a phone call saying I needed to pay more money as there were more boxes than they quote me on, so had to pay. On moving day several items broken, the removal guy got almost angry with me when I pointed out the broken items, all were like you brand new prior to moving. You worked hard for buying the furniture you had especially the kitchen table, end tables etc… don’t let them get away with this. Absolutely sue them but sketchy firms like that will declare bankruptcy and open under another name. Never feel bad when a company screws up that bad…I had bad feeling when they didn’t tell pick up time…best is get recommendations. Sometimes you may pay more for quality service but it’s better than having all your belongings broken and left behind.

I would had that person sign an invoice of all the number of boxes that you gave them from small to medium to large and all the items and show the driver you were paying for everything they were moving. Hey Michel, im so sorry to hear about that aweful company! My brother has a moving company in NJ and from working for him for a while I know exactly what should have been done. While working with him I heard about SOOOO many shady companies like that! They always quote you surprisingly less and then when they have your stuff in the truck they up the price. They didnt even wrap your stuff in moving blakets! And they should have made individual crates for all the marble items! And craigs list? Thats just wrong- no moving experience what-so-ever. Also they should have provided you a time frame atleast a few days before. I an so sad and upset for you. Sue the insurance and then the company. About the movers, If you have documentation of what was agreed upon BEFORE the move, conversations you had & Most importantly Text Messages, contact a lawyer & demand action & Price reduction. Also let moving company know & lawyer that you are on videos as a n infulencer. Crazy the crap these moving companies can do to make a terrible/illegal move for people. You really have to file a claim with the moving company. And if necessary sue them in small claims court as well. If you let them get away with it they will continue to treat everyone else the same and damage everyone else's property. You also need to report them to the Better Business Bureau. This company needs to be shut down. Make sure you have lots of notes and lots of photos of your damaged items including the items they left in Texas. Detail. Detail. Detail! Good luck!

Don't feel bad! Talk to a lawyer. I used to work for a big name moving company and heard stories like this all the time from people who went with small businesses like this. They have a tendency to contract out to the lowest bidder and don't even know the driver. I hope you got an actual contract from them, because that should have all the details of your move listed out and provide some guidance. I suspect you are unfortunately going to end up in small claims court with them as I bet they don't have the best insurance. Normal damage insurance should cover replacement for repair value of the items.

I must admit we spent a fortune to move from Philadelphia to Dallas. However, it was a well known moving company. They also did pack for us. Anyway, only one thing broke and that was because the chair had dry rot. So maybe I should feel better now that we paid top dollar. Still if I had to do it over again I would have sold much more of my furniture and bought new in Dallas.

We moved cross county, VA to TX... Had a VERY similar experience with a different moving company. Damaged items, sketchy communication once they had our stuff, charged TRIPLE over the quote. It's a shame that movers do this to good people. So sorry you had to experience this!

They have to replace your damaged pieces. I had cleaners that damaged items when they were cleaning, they reimbursed me for the items.

I've never seen a moving company use that type of black (seems to very flimsy) wrapping that they used... it doesn't seems durable at all, ugh! Omg, Michel you deserve your money back + the cost of all of your damaged/missing pieces!

I completely understand your moving situation, unfortunately my family is having to move forward to going to court against a moving company (Rabbit Movers in NYC- please beware). The day of they said they’d be hours late or not come at all, obviously contract workers. An argument ensued, and they didn’t move our stuff! But here’s the kicker- they refuse to refund us, even though they cancelled on us and are citing their “cancellation policy”. And they won with the bank. My advice to anyone is if you’re moving pay with a credit card rather than debit because there’s some cancel feature that’s a lot simpler to deal with. So sorry this happened, and I also don’t like confrontation but definitely support you escalating the issue. These moving companies are crazy 😭

I'm so sorry you've had this bad moving experience. Same thing happened to me. I used the same local company 3 times in 8 years. 3rd time I got two kids, like high school, and they wrecked a bunch of my things. I filed claims on their website and they still weren't calling me back. They offered me $50 when there were hundreds of dollars worth of damage. After I finally got ahold of the owner on the phone he told me "F You!" and hung up. I went on every single website I knew they had and wrote a bad review for them.

I've had movers move our entire household three separate times, all from one state to another. I have NEVER had that many broken items. One thing I'll NEVER do is hire the company that gives me the lowest quote, especially when it's significantly lower than everyone else.
