I’m glad you’re feeling better. We still don’t have a ton of miles on our NAVI, but ours has really not had any carburetor issues, jetting, idle etc., other than it is just a bit cold blooded. I usually just let it warm up a bit before I ride. We are at 6300’ in Colorado. Gosh it is a bit pokey compared to the Super Cub, a lot of it is that I am just not used to riding with a CVT. Heck, the centrifugal clutch on the Super Cub was odd for me. I need to get the MT-07 out and blow the cobwebs out of my brain. 😆

I think the Navi is very nice, I worry about the breaks being good enough for that long of a trip as that is the weakest part of riding long distance. The low power would also be scary due to the cagers getting upset at a slow moving bike. I think the PCX would make the Cannonball much more enjoyable for you!
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 2 жыл бұрын
The Navi's brakes suck, period! The only saving grace is that the shoes in drum brakes usually last a LONG time before needing replacement. I certainly wouldn't want to pull the SherpaX trailer behind the Navi for the Cannonball because that extra weight would make stopping from road speeds a real white-knuckle event... every single time. I'll probably replace the Navi's brake shoes with some EBC slotted off-road shoes to see if that improves the brake feel and bite. I've used those EBC shoes in older dirt bikes, and it made an immediate improvement over the OEM soft organic pads. We'll see! 😉👍 --QM

Yes, the SH33 will accommodate most full-face helmets with room to spare. I can fit my Schuberth C3 Pro or my SHOEI NeoTec II helmet, gloves, and lightweight rain suit without any problems. I’m very torn between i Navi or Grom. I’ve had a Navi or order for a couple weeks now. Do you have any recommendations, or any experience with a Grom? Maybe a next video topic. I’m glad you’re feeling better. Looking forward to watching more
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 2 жыл бұрын
The Grom is light years beyond the Navi in terms of reliability and ridability, but it's nearly double the cost. The Navi is a bare-bones scooter that thinks it's a motorcycle (scooter powertrain mated to a semi-traditional motorcycle frame). The Navi is carbureted, temperamental to start, doesn't like cold weather, and it returns relatively poor fuel economy compared to modern fuel-injected bikes. The Navi's top speed is around 53 MPH under ideal conditions, and stopping quickly from those speeds will give you a panic attack every time because the drum brakes are straight out of the 1950's... grab a handful, stand on the rear brake pedal, and pray! With all of those negatives said, the Navi is still a very fun bike to ride as long as you have the right expectations. The Grom is a miniature motorcycle complete with fuel injection, dual disc brakes with ABS, a 5-speed transmission (2022+ models), and better suspension to soak up the bumps. You can jump on it, hit the starter, and it will start every time without any fuss. The Grom's top speed of 65+ MPH makes it more feasible to get around in busy traffic and reduces the likelihood of becoming a hood ornament on some aggressive cager's SUV. The fuel economy and range is the biggest differentiator between the bikes. The Navi gets ~78 MPG (real world use) and its 0.9-gallon tank runs dry around 70 miles. The Grom gets ~135 MPG and its 1.6-gallon tank will carry you 200 miles on a tank without range anxiety. Another important consideration is fuel stability and storage... modern ethanol-laden fuels KILL carburetor jets very easily. If you don't plan on riding the Navi regularly, then you need to drain the carburetor bowl (or let it run dry with the fuel petcock closed). The Grom's fuel-injected system is more tolerant to storage periods. So, it just depends on your riding chores and expectations. If the Navi will be a short commuter or local run around bike (or hauled around on an RV), then it works perfectly. If your riding chores require longer distances or higher speeds, then the Grom is a much better tool that will be more reliable overall. Good luck with your mini-moto shopping, and I hope you find a good fit! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, the Navi is very "tippy" at higher speeds and in crosswinds. I talked about that "weeble-wobble" effect in my second ride video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqLCZ56bjdeirJo I think it's due to the smaller diameter rear tire, so I'm hoping that can be minimized with a wider tire in back. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

certainly been thinking about the canonball... but on a Honda ADV 150 or something similar... loved the cubs trip, but I think the ADV would be more fun. The Navi looks like a lot of fun but I'm betting that is going to hurt for such a long ride. Are you planning a chase vehicle? I don't know if I would actually be able to do something like this because of time off from work, but it sure sounds like fun. Sold my scooter last year and just ride my goldwing, but thinking of picking up another scooter for around town or to the store and back. BTW, I'm out in west Texas in the winds and dirt so sometimes a scooter is rough to ride. Look forward to hearing more about the giveaway. Thanks again

I think the Navi was engineered in India there it's hot and no need to warm up .Plus most ride under 30 miles per hour due to street congestion so there one may get 90 miles per fill this will include the reserve flow.Plus there the storage box is a extra so many can not afford it this may increase mileage less weight.

@QuasiMotard 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and giving feedback! If you are accustomed to the Helix, then the PCX would be the better scoot to buy. The Navi is a fun little runaround tool, but it definitely has its drawbacks compared to the more modern fuel-injected PCX. The Navi's relatively poor fuel economy at only 75 MPG combined with its small 0.9-gallon tank really hamper its use as a commuter in my opinion. Only 68 miles to a dry tank is not very good range. 😉👍 --QM

I've been considering adding a 2022 Grom ABS to the stable for a while now. The new Dax is interesting, but I think the MSRP will need to be lower than the Grom and Monkey to make it feasible. The Dax is essentially a Monkey with a pressed-steel frame, the Cub's 4-speed semi-auto transmission, along with the Cub's tiny 1.0 gallon fuel tank. I definitely like the dual disc brakes with ABS, though! If I get a Dax, then it will definitely end up pulling a trailer or maybe even a sidecar! 😉👍 --QM

@QuasiMotard

I don't think the new upgrades are worth replacing an existing 2019-21 Super Cub. However, I think that a new owner should purchase the 2022 over the older models because of the upgrades... assuming that the prices are similar. The cartridge-type oil filter is a big upgrade, in my opinion... no need to pull the side cover to clean out the oil spinner. 😉👍 --QM

Good to hear you're feeling better. Really curious to see what happens with the fuel economy once the carb is properly set up. Any chance that's part of what is causing the discrepancy between the milage you're getting and the 110mpg Honda says it should get?

@domenik8339 Жыл бұрын
I'm also really confused at the mileage they claim. In my experience Honda doesn't lie about their specs, but it does appear that they did on the navi. I wonder if they planned on giving it EFI and mistakenly forgot to change the mpg on their website? Most people get around 80, but they claim 110, which is not even close to what Honda claims, but would be achievable with EFI.

Superb video - re 'plus tyre' for the navi to you mean larger diameter or wider?
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The plus-size tires that we're finding will be a bit wider and "taller" (larger rolling diameter) by 10-20mm. We don't have any direct-fit sizes for the Navi here in the States yet. These tires seem to be sized for the Indian market and are more popular over there. When we do find the correct sizes online, they are always shipping from Asia or India. I know that Mexico has the Navi for several years now, so I wonder where they are getting their replacements. I'm sure that some of the US-based suppliers will start receiving shipments from overseas soon. I would love to see a 12" rear wheel conversion, but there isn't much clearance between the tire and the front of the drive housing. That modification would probably require a longer CVT drive housing (essentialy an extended swingarm) to give more clearance. Cheers! 😉👍

@QuasiMotard 2 жыл бұрын
@@wascalywabbit Yes, if the front tire has a larger OD, then it will affect the speedometer (it's connected to the front wheel hub). The rear tire is the sore spot with most Navi owners right now because it's too narrow and makes the bike squirm around too much on any surface... dry or wet. We can use a slightly wider/taller tire in the rear without affecting the speedo reading. The Navi's tire sizes are odd for our market, so hopefully we can find alternatives soon. 😉👍 --QM

@QuasiMotard 2 жыл бұрын
I've considered pulling a trailer with the Navi, but it's already very tipsy in crosswinds. I'm not sure if a trailer will help or hurt that situation. I certainly wouldn't pull a trailer with the Navi during the Scooter Cannonball Run like I did with the Super Cub... it just doesn't have enough power to pull the extra weight. 😉👍 --QM

I just moved to Pennsylvania. Would it be better to invest in one of these instead of a used car?

My OTD price at Eastside Honda in Baytown was $2654.04. You can see the complete unboxing and the buyers contract in my video here:kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGW0eGlpardql68 . Good luck with your Navi purchase! 😉👍 --QM

Hey quasi how tall are you, and is this bike a good fit for someone who is 5’8”, I’m debating on getting this, a ruckus, or a pcx. Speed isn’t what I’m looking for. I test drove a ruckus in Waco, and I really enjoyed it. I sat on a super cub and didn’t really feel comfortable. The pcx looks really awesome. But I never saw a Navi in person. I’m planning on getting a scooter, and wanting to do traveling on it. What’s your take on it?
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 2 жыл бұрын
I'm 5'6" and 155 lbs (5'7", 170 lbs ready to ride). The Navi's seating position is very comfortable, and the seat height is a bit taller than the Ruckus. The Navi is considerably quicker than the Ruckus because of its 109cc engine (vs the 50cc on the Ruckus). Fuel economy and range for the Ruckus is better than the Navi, but the lower top speed can be problematic. It's hard to find safe roads to travel under 45 mph. The PCX is a more capable machine in all respects because of its larger engine, higher top speeds, and larger fuel tank. My 2015 & 2016 PCX150's can travel on back highways and side roads at 55-65 MPH all day long. The fuel economy is usually above 100 MPG, so their range is ~200 miles per tank. Those features make the PCX a better back road tourer compared to the Ruckus or the Navi. Speed isn't the name of the game when touring back roads on small bikes, but having the ability to reach 55-65 MPH expands your options and can help to keep you away from trouble with homicidal cagers driving 30+ over the posted limits. 😉👍 --QM

Howdy, Marc! I'm still riding the CT125 occasionally, but it's not a daily rider for me. I purchased it with the intention of using it for weekend moto-camping trips and the occasional off-road adventure camping destinations. I haven't had much time lately to get "back to my roots" for the ADV-camping stuff, but I hope to do more of that this spring and summer. The little CT125 is still waiting patiently with only ~750 miles on the clock... ready for more adventures! 😉👍 --QM

Four bucks a gallon ha, we are paying nearly 11 dollars for a UK gallon here now. If you want 5% ethanol not 10% it is even more.

The SH33 is a great little box, and the price is very reasonable: amzn.to/36Yq0YN . I've seen it as low as $86 USD sometimes just depending on the retailer. 😉👍 --QM

You have helmet hooks under your seat.
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 2 жыл бұрын
The Navi's helmet hooks are in an awkward position under the seat, and they don't work well with helmets that have ratchet straps instead of D-rings. The seat is also a bit fiddly to get on/off with my SHAD top box plate, so that's why I prefer to use a different helmet hook solution. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

Look on the bright side Aaron , If you filled up your wifes car in the U.K it would have cost you approx $183 😮 . (That's factoring in the U.K to US Gallon Conversion & Todays exchange rate )

I used to own one of those. It was a great scoot, but too big for the cannonball. The max displacement is based on the Vespa 300gts displacement.
