Could it be PTSD from the military? I too am finding that as I age I am developing certain phobias, but LOUD thunder gets me a little unhedged as well especially at home alone. Glad that it has passed over and thanks for being transparent

It could be! I do plan to explore that with them. Thanks for watching 🦋

I recently began talking with a therapist online. It is 100% paid for by insurance. The site I used to find the therapist is Headway. I'm 60 and wasn't convinced it would add any value. Surprisingly, the therapy has been quite insightful and practical. It's a start. Just my suggestion It was incredibly brave of you to be this vulnerable with the world 🌎.

I will check into that! Thanks for watching 😊

Yes. I remember those days where we had to run around the house unplugging stuff... Couldn't sit by the windows. No TV ever. No showers or baths because we might get electrocuted. It was terror.
@malikahonthemove3 ай бұрын
There is some truth to the showers! If you look on storm safety recommendations, they will tell you not to even wash dishes because lightning can come through the pipes! Same with landline phones, which of course we had when I was younger. I wonder how many cases there have been of people getting electrocuted while in the shower during a storm?

There is nothing strange about the rational fear of intense storms, your fear will keep you alive - once during a storm I heard a great crack, without thought, I scooped up my infant son and ran out of the room just as a massive Oak tree crashed into the room, obey your instincts

Hi Malikah! You are not alone. I also don't remember ever having this type of fear. I wanted to run and hide...but where. As a child I would just sit and be quiet but last night was on another level. I am 76 and found that age has brought about fears I never knew I had. BTW I love your channel.

Thanks for sharing! Is it age you think? As I get older I do find I am more afraid of things. I don’t that one bit! Thanks for being here!🦋

Hugs! Sorry to hear of this fear that you have. I won't dive off of a high ledge or speak in front of a full auditorium, but those are things that I can control. You can't control thunderstorms. Someone mentioned online therapy, I have seen many youtube channels being sponsored by BetterHelp and people say that it is really helpful. It says that you can change therapists if you don't click with one, it is done online or on your phone and you can do it from anywhere. I hope that wherever you have moved to isn't in the rainy season, but if so, maybe instead of a chair or bed you could try sitting on the ground with some pillows nearby, then you won't get injured if you need to flatten out on the floor. Safe vibes coming your way!

Thanks for the info and the tips on the pillows! Great idea. 😊🦋

Hi Malikah funny you are talking about storms. We are supposed to get some heavy storms this evening. As a child I was very much afraid of thunder I would go into panic mode. When I became an adult thunder didn't bother me as a matter of fact I liked the sound of thunder UNTIL last year we had the worst lightning storm ever lightning hit my house on the electric box it serged through out the house knocked out one garage door fried my son's xbox that was on lower level fried the doorbell,the dish washer and the Xfinity modem. When that lightning hit our house the doorbell binged so loud I thought our roof was on fire it wasn't I tell you I am 66 yrs old and now I am terrified of lightning. So tonight when our big storm starts I'm going to be on the floor LOL.

Same in our family Melikah. I feel tradition came down from the ancestors and some wasn’t told why.

I bet it was and I would love to know the reason!

Malikah this is exactly how I was raised…. My grandma would make us be quiet cause the Lord was doing his work. I’m not afraid now as an adult but when I was younger I was very afraid of storms.
@malikahonthemove4 ай бұрын
That’s the reason? Wow. Good that you’re not afraid now! 🦋
