I feel so bad for that rabbit. I will take a bullet for my 3 rabbits just so they dont have to feel pain. I’m so sorry for what the rabbit goes through and what you feel about seeing your rabbit struggling. Hope everything will be okay

I have four actally had 6 since my female gave birth to four last July and had sold two and it was hard as yet I couldn't sell the two others, I saw them since day they born to grown 8 weeks old to been sold and I miss the other two, who are doing well in their new homes but I kept the other two which one of them was a peanut but she survived and doing so well there now over months old what for a journey but I was blessed with it. Your bun is s cute and sad, he has to go through but lucky he got you and family to keep him safe and happy, you both are meant to been.💖🙏 I pray for your bun!🙏

Thank you for sharing the whole experience you've had! I haven't seen much about bunny seizures either. My bunny (IG: pineapple.bunny) has seizures too (12+ a day) but for us that they don't seem to impact him once the episode ends. Getting care is so expensive and doesn't even result in a change the treatment plan or outcome, so best of luck going forward! I'm glad Astro has such caring and committed humans in his life ❤️

@@SpecialneedsSpacebun He takes 0.4 mL of Keppra twice a day, though I don't even know how much it's doing. Going to ask the vet to see if there's anything else left we can do 🤷‍♀️ Its hard knowing I can't possibly be there for the vast majority of them to help, since most are during the middle of the day and late at night when he's trying to sleep.

@@rabbitesk might be time to increase the dose! We started at .8ml 3 times a day and now we are at. 1.2ml and it made a huge difference in frequency. (Depends on weight he is almost 4lbs) wish you the best! Let me know if there’s an update

I hope your bunny gets better soon! I’m glad he’s still with you after a year of seizures. My lionlop bunny had seizures I took him to the vet, they said nothing could be done and he kept having them until he got paralysed all over and passed away. They did say it was neurological issues due to bad breeding. I have seen a lot of Holland lop rabbits that have seizures so I don’t know if it’s something to do with the breed? I do hope he recovers soon! 🤞 🐰

So sorry to hear! During my google searches in the beginning I definitely read that holland lops are more prone to ear infections and seizures. Astro is doing well currently!

No we didn’t notice him getting sleepy. And he has been 1.5 years free of seizures. We just started weening him off this month and still none. Best of luck you you 🥰

Oof, my vet thinks mine isn’t having that many. Idiopathic and she has like 10 a month. Clusters over the course of a few days usually once a month. Vet doesn’t want to do medication as it’s so hard on the liver so we are trying herbs that have studies to show effectiveness at reducing seizure activity.... but still have had 7 in the past couple days after being on the herbs for almost 2 weeks. We tried CBD oil but that you have to be super careful with. THC at all is known to induce seizures in rabbits. I didn’t notice it helping, thought it was for a bit but no, looking back at the recordings, it has not. Been dealing with these for over a year now. I’m only 6 mins in the video, but wanted to comment, will finish now and maybe comment again LOL

Aw that sounds like a lot! Yeah meds are expensive and can be harmful for the liver. We opted for one that wasn’t as hard on the liver and got blood work to see how his liver is and it’s fine. Hope you can find something. Astro hasn’t had a seizure since December

Not seizures like this but I‘ve seen improvement of E.C when the bunny got fixed (male hormones are super stressful for bunnies) & had a partner. Its stress relieving (as they are social animals and it’s highly recommend to not keep any bunny alone) I mean it’s definitely not a cure, but something that might help him in day to day life. Have you thought about that? 😊

Hey! We got him neutered as soon as we could (way too horny to live with it was the worst). We thought about getting another or fostering but don’t want to go through the rigamarole of bunny speed dating and added expenses. We dump thousands into his vet care every year and don’t want to add more into the mix. Wish we could foster but we’ve been advised not to.
