It's like when you're driving. One loooong road, only one car and one lonely pedestrian. The pedestrian will ALWAYS be crossing exactly the side street where the car wants to turn off, and at the exact time the car will be there.

Well put Phil. I guess you get idiots on the canals just as you do on the roads. Only difference is with a car, one can stop or swerve more easily than a boat can. Good sound advice though.

Very sage advice. I've driven tugboats for many years and several years ago hired a narrow boat and cruised the Cheshire ring route. Even with my past experience of vessels in close quarters the canals were "interesting". How's the cabin roof going?

Hello Phil,sort of on this subject,a while ago a narrowboat’mishaps’ video popped up.In one clip a boater’s stern cam showed possibly you but much younger passing through a lift bridge.There is another boat following,but a woman walking on the towpath decided to lower the bridge in the way of the second boat.Was that you filming many years ago?I think a nasty accident was avoided at the last minute.Cheers for now.

Yes that was my video. That person used my clip without asking permission. If that bridge had come down there would have been much damage.
