I would find another seamstress because minor alterations shouldn’t be $50-75. I have things adjusted all the time & it starts at $5 for buttons & goes up to $200 depending on what is being done. Always reasonable. Shop around for another seamstress.

This!! I live in a super expensive area, and minor alterations run $10-$20 per piece here, unless you're getting a lot of fabric added- that's more. But taking in the waist of a skirt should be under $20 for sure, probably cheaper in Texas.

A suggestion for Max when it's too hot for walks - treat puzzles are great mental stimulation (which can sometimes tire them out more than physical exercise) 😊

I had that same feeling about finally being happy and being afraid to lose it. My therapist helped by pointing out that I was thinking the worst case scenario would happen, when there’s plenty of other possibilities and also that I was completely unprepared to face whatever happened, which is also not true. She called this line of thinking catastrophization.

When it’s hot, or in my case since I live in Maine too cold, I give my dog brain puzzles. A few minutes of brain work is the equivalent of 30-60 minutes of physical exercise. You can use cups and hide treats under them or make a little indoor obstacle course, teach him a new trick or two or the plastic puzzle games that you hide treats in are great too. My favorite is actually putting training treats in a blanket by folding it in thirds and then you tie it loosely so they have to undo it with their paws and teeth. My dog loves it!

I'm not a morning person(as early as you need to get up to easily the dog) & had to get ready for work. It was so worth it to get him a good walk before it burned his little paws!

Max is small enough to where you can have him run around the apartment or your storage unit. I'm in NYC and live in a studio and I manage with my 80 pound rottie/ german shepherd mix. Someone's already suggested a Kong ball but also get puzzle feeder toys. Sometimes just walking your dog doesn't allow them to really get that energy out. Puzzle feeders, forage mats and the like get help with that extra energy. Max is a cutie.

2 tips for finding a seamstress- ask at local dry cleaners to hem pants and skirts or if you have a friends mom or grandma that sews, ask them (that generation sewed all of their own clothes). Basic hems can pretty much be done by anyone, but reconstruction or major modification requires more time, which raises the cost.

I definitely get what you’re talking about in the coffee chat. It’s scary to realize what we could loose if things go wrong. What I’ve found to help me is to not stop my thoughts at ‘so much could go wrong and I could fall so far rn’ but continue to add ‘but I know even if that does happen I could get myself back up. And it probably won’t happen bc I’m making better decisions for a better future for myself’. Never let a thought end on a negative note !

I think that once a person goes through such a devastating hurt/loss when a marriage break up, that person becomes very warry of being hurt again. Once hurt, twice shy. As a fellow Texas dog mom I take my Oreo for a walk at 6am. Anything before 8am is still pretty cool and there is nothing that builds communication and trust quit like going for a walk together, for people and dogs. I also follow the dog trainer, Zach George, on KZbin and he has a lot of great simple tricks that challenge dogs mentally and again, build communication. Those are both free and a great pay option is daycare, which can be really awesome for a friendly, energetic dog. I have some friends who take their dog to daycare every Saturday and while they are out shopping and running errands they know that their little pooch is having the time of his life and when they all get home he is so happy and tired and content. Thanks for the great videos and good luck with little Max!

Here’s a thought from a dog mom and one time dog trainer. I had two Golden retrievers who’s father died of heat stroke so I had to be very careful. I could take them swimming, which may not work for Max, but I also did AGILITY with my dogs. Not formal or competitive, just fun. You might look to see if an air conditioned dog training facility offers something like that. Also mental stimulation is also good for dogs and helping them feel more fulfilled (less anxious) when physical exercise isn’t recommended or possible. Look into something called clicker training. This is great for teaching tricks and having a dog really focus and use their minds. Play is also good but combined with training it takes it to the next level as far as a happy fulfilled dog. Good luck! 🐶💗

I do take them just outside in the closest shade for them to go potty. I even carry them to the shade if I have to. Do not feel bad as a dog mom to not take your dogs out. It's too hot for them. You're being a good dog mom to keep them inside when it's too hot out.

Michel, after my horrible break up, I allowed myself to stay in the “down” spot for too long because I was scared of being “on top” again too. I think there’s a healthy median. Even though it would hurt to fall down again and have bad things happen, the good thing you now know that you didn’t before is that you will get back up once again and that good things are around the corner again and again and again, no matter how many times bad things happen. Not allowing yourself to be fully present in the good season is a disservice to yourself and the girl that fought hard to get there (easier said than done) but don’t be fearful, good and bad things will always happen. Soak up this awesome season!! And also, I have a 10 year old beagle and I can only take him up the street in my 100 degree weather here. I take him morning and night. Maybe two 15 minute walks. Love the vlog!

Catching up on your videos today, and just watched your coffee chat….. I have never felt more seen in that moment. Literally went through hell back in early 2019, and then a year later had my life change (for the better), and ever since have struggled with similar thoughts as you….. I’m like… scared to be happy because I was so used to terrible things happening and me just making bad choices in my life, but because of that was afraid to accept that good could happen. And if good things happened (which they did, and are), I was just gonna lose it all….. it’s better now, but I still struggle with those thoughts. Not sure how to fully heal from them/if it’s even possible to do so, but yeah. Totally relate to you. Thank you for sharing and providing a safe space to share. ♥️ Also side note, I LOVE TORCHYS - I’m in Oklahoma and we have a couple locations. So good 🔥

You're DOING GREAT GIRLIE is so COMMON to self sabotage..scary to let yourself be happy.after being hurt especially and it actually takes work .YOU going OUT & BEING AROUND GOOD PEOPLE DOING GOOD THINGS is such a great way to fight off those negative thoughts & energy.it.makes you make yourself be accountable so YOU ARE WORKING ON IT EVERYDAY...you will want to complete your tasks and goals because people will ask how you are doing on them.. being miserable and complaining and blaming others is a lot easier and comfortable lets you sink in to your laziness and you tend to either isolate or hang with other miserable people so you dont feel judged.

I thought I’d respond to your question about Max getting exercise when it’s so hot. Is Max ok with other dogs? I’m sure there are doggie daycare options in Austin and hopefully some have air conditioned indoor spaces for dogs to play. My dogs have always done well with doggie daycare and the socialization is so good for them! It has the side benefit of tuckering them out. 😄 Another option might be to find an indoor space to walk Max. It may seem weird, but Lowes stores have been allowing dogs in stores where I live and it might be a place to walk Max. They aren’t the coolest stores, but they’re probably better than being out in the sun. And finally, there are some things you could train Max to do for exercise. You could teach him to run back and forth between the couch and the bed. So, you’d tell him to Go to Bed, reward, then Go to the Couch, and reward. Make a game of it. Jumping up and down from the furniture should be somewhat tiring. Indoor stairs in the building would be a work out too. Maybe put Max on a long lead for that and send him down and call him back up. There are pieces of equipment for dogs in agility that you have dogs stand on that are a bit wobbly. The dog has to use their muscles to balance on them. Oooo! I wonder if there would be someplace to take Max swimming? It’d be great if there was an indoor space created just for dogs to swim for exercise! I wonder if Austin has something like that? Or maybe a doggie daycare would have that option. Those are just a few ideas. Maybe your vet would have more ideas? Good luck! I’m sure other dog owners in Texas would have ideas too. ❤️🐾❤️

I think once your brain has processed any big things (your marriage not working out, moving state, getting a divorce and all of the attendant feelings) it finds room to process less immediate feelings like self-sabotaging and nuking your own life because it will hurt less than if someone else blows it up. The main thing to realise is in life there is balance, so no love without pain, dark without light, happiness without sadness. Once you recognise and name the feeling, then you can work on what to do about it. Much love x

I feel like I understand what you mean when you talk about waiting for something bad to happen again and being afraid of letting go of that subconscious feeling. I went through a similar feeling a couple years ago when I went through a season of trauma after trauma. There’s no prescribed way to feel when you’re going through something like this! What helped me quite a bit was realizing, wait God was here for me through all the tough stuff and I’m here and okay now. What do I have to lose if I have Him supporting me when things go bad? He’ll hold me and take care of me and of course that goes for everyone. Definitely that was a thought process I had to learn over time and still need to constantly remind myself of. Just want you to know that what you’re feeling is totally natural and I appreciate you sharing❤️ I’ll continue to pray for you sweet lady!

While I wasn’t totally aware of it at the time, fear was a predominate feeling in my marriage. Like you, there was a fair amount of emotional neglect, cheating, and abuse (my word - not sure if you name it that). I’m not dating yet as I need more time to heal. But what you said resonates a lot with me. The vulnerability a relationship (or even other goals) requires is a lot to take on for people who have experienced loss and trauma in the way we did. While trusting a romantic partner again is hard to imagine, I’ve realized my journey is really much more about trusting myself. I fear “failing” in all the ways that a lot of women fear failing. But I think it’s so much deeper than that. I fear that I will not choose myself over the person I love again. And my current, healing self knows that I can’t ever lose myself again. That’s my core fear now and I fear intimacy will push me to self-betray again. But we have to trust ourselves. Our gut feelings were right. We just needed to trust ourselves and surrender to what we saw happening even if we didn’t want it to be true. Ps. The hair loss could also be from the divorce. I lost a ton of hair. It’s finally growing back. I have fly aways like postpartum women. 🤣

OMG! I love the green and white dress! Wow! A modern day "Gone With The Wind" type of dress. Statement: “Never pass up new experiences [Scarlett], They enrich the mind." - Rhett Butler”

Those alterations sound High I would shop around for another seamstress. I took in a beaded dress for my son's wedding and it only cost $75 for the alterations.

Maybe for the alterations, you could take up sewing classes? Then you could do somw quick fixes yourself or even flip some thrifted clothes, that might also be a fun video
