When Jordy started singing to you, I felt my eyes well up with tears. Just the transformation from you crying last year unsure about your future to how happy and loved and cherished you are now...girl, I'm so beyond happy for you!

I have struggled with anxiety my whole life. Therapy has helped a lot. Emotional intelligence/maturity has also been a big help. My biggest relief came when I truly stopped overthinking how people perceived me and wanting to be “understood”.

Hey Michel, a therapist with anxiety here! One thing my therapist shared with me & that I use with my clients that has been helpful is thought dumps! I’ll write down all of the thoughts going on in my head that are making me anxious. Obviously, it doesn’t make the things that are making me anxious go away, but it certainly quiets the rush of anxious thoughts, if that makes sense. Also, reminding myself that anxiety is like a faulty smoke detector. It keeps going off & my brain is sensing danger, even though I’m not & it’s a sign that I need to use my coping skills. Praying for peace in your heart & mind 💛💛💛

I know lots of people are against taking medicine for mental health but in my experience it can help clear your mind and it just gives you a bit of an edge to over come all the anxious bits. Makes days more enjoyable. Doesn’t have to be forever. Just helps you get over the hardest bit.

One thing that has helped me is changing the way I “talk” to my feelings. A lot of times when I used to notice I was anxious, my brain would go “Oh no I’m feeling anxious! I don’t want to be anxious! There is no reason for this. STOP FEELING ANXIOUS!” Naturally, this only made things worse. Now I acknowledge the feeling and allow myself to feel it for a minute (even if it isn’t “logical”) and then I will take a deep breath, do a grounding exercise, etc. This has helped A LOT

I have struggled with anxiety for most of my life, I’m 36, a mother, a wife, our little boy has a chronic illness, and the fear I feel all the time is strong…. However, I’ve learnt that painting, drawing, listening to music that gives me good feels have been incredibly therapeutic to help redirect the energy. Also gardening is amazing, happy to chat more on this stuff if you ever want to. Thank you for all you do Michel x

Yes, as a bereaved mother, I had challenges and struggles with my grief journey. My son Dan passed due to cancer at age 28 over five years ago. Six months later, I lost my father to dementia, and the following year, my older brother died of a heart attack. I am grateful for my family and my faith in God. I love Jordy's song he wrote for you, about you, with you. You are blessed.

Anxiety has come and gone in my life, and I know how overwhelming it can be. Some things that have worked for me or have worked for others that I haven't heard you mention (or maybe you have, and I missed it) Meditation... It takes practive to get into deep meditation, and I even struggle with still but I practice deep breathing (breathe in 1.2.3....10, Hold for 5, then exhale 10...3.2.1.) It's amazing how it can deescalate things. Another thing I found to be very helpful for myself is gratitude. If there is something, I always remind myself of how thanksful I am for the things I HAVE accomplished or do have (loving husband, family, mom, dad, etc..) it kind of rewrites the brain to be like "Hey it's not so bad!" with that, just being in present.. Not going forward OR backward with thoughts/memories, they dont serve you any longer. Simply serve the present, as it is actively serving you.

Hi Michel, I wish more studies were done on auto immune diseases and mental health. As I have a few auto immune diseases, myself, and have mental health issues. I do take medication’s, however, mindfulness, grounding myself is a game changer. Making sure that you’re using all five of your senses. Touch, taste, smell, site, and sound. Once I have all of those senses going the anxiety dissipates. You’re definitely not alone. And I love that you’re talking about this. So many people struggle in silence. We as a society need to understand that mental health is no different than physical health. Love you friend.

I can relate the the anxious moments. When my anxiety flare, I take a second to access what I'm doing and where I am. Over time I realized that my anxiety was being triggered by my subconscious associated whats happening around me... to something that hurt me in the past. I had an abusive relationship end all the way back in 2012... and sometimes I'll get random flares of anxiety or anxious thoughts only to realize it is similar to a bad event from my past. I tell myself that I'm safe; that person, place or situation isn't THIS situation. Then I take deep breathes to ground myself and look around me to bring myself to the present.

Having less caffeine also helped me as well as exercise. The biggest thing for me is being able to walk outside in a forest or some sort of nice nature-esque place. But ultimately my anxiety didn’t get better until I started taking medication and that’s been a game changer cuz I no longer just live in a constant state of anxiety like I did before so it depends how bad it is. Mine got very bad until the medication.

Love your channel, thank you for always being so open and vulnerable. You're amazing! A game changer for my anxiety was allowing it to be there. For years I thought anxiety was bad, I needed to change it, fix it, try this or that. I started acknowledging my anxiety from a more objective position and just allowing it to be. I give myself grace and say things like "Oh hey, anxiety guess you're coming along for the day today!" The simple act of acknowledgement, letting the anxiety flow through me like any other emotion usually ends up stopping the anxious thoughts.

Hi from West Texas! I'm a Certified Mental Health Coach here, and struggle with many of the same issues, primarily the feelings of anxiety in my brain and chest. I am not a doctor and cannot prescribe meds, but I personally love to supplement with GABA and Ashwaghanda. GABA specifically is a neurotransmitter which should be naturally produced by your body. However, GABA deficiencies can contribute to anxiety symptoms. There are some great GABA gummy options. When I take them, I notice that my racing thoughts slow down considerably and overall cognition improves. I also gain a sense of overall calmness and well being. I can't recommend it enough. I too have tried making so many lifestyle modifications to feel better, but if you have a true deficiency, supplementation may be a necessary component to feeling better. Much love and wishing you all the best!!

This might be a repeat of lots of other comments, but I’ve often struggled with postpartum depression/anxiety (hormone imbalances) - it happened to me with 3 kids and a miscarriage. Yoga and movement (especially outdoors) has always helped me so much, as well as writing down the fears/anxieties and identifying which ones are real & which are exaggerated. Be gentle with yourself though, don’t dismiss anxieties in a way you would not with a friend! Also a clean space always helps me so much. I keep things really minimal in my house. And when it’s really bad I make a stack of Bible verse flash cards and carry those around everywhere! Excited about your candle👍🙌 Sweetest song!

G’day Michel, I can understand your anxiety issues. I’ve had the same anxious thoughts recently (the way you described how you experience it is the same way I do too) and something that’s helped me in those exact moments is deep breathing. A technique my BH Therapist taught me to use is ‘4B’ (4 Breaths) = breath in deep for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, breath out for 4 seconds, repeat 4 times. Hope this helps! Exercise is great too👍

Anxiety is tricky and does not always have a direct correlation to a specific event, so it isn’t always possible to discover what causes it. Some people are naturally more anxious, some people might have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, some may have anxiety attacks (which many people wrongly call panic attacks), and others may utilize medication for assistance with symptoms. I am proud of you for being so thoughtful in caring for your mental health. *I say all of this as a licensed social worker with 25+ years experience in behavioral health & many years as a psychology professor. I’m also a person with anxiety (triggered during postpartum) 22:32 who has helped/watched my now 19-year old navigate her own anxiety & depression.

I have struggled with anxiety and OCD my whole life and a huge thing is accepting the anxiety as it is and not trying to fight it. In the moment, speaking kindly to yourself and taking deep, grounding breaths really help. I have also found that doing a puzzle completely shuts my mind off. Could be a great way to work on taming the anxiety in your down time and it helps you feel really accomplished too!

Can so relate to that heavy chest feeling. I had a really sudden onset of a lot of anxiety and found that therapy, meditation, yoga and breathing exercises are so helpful. If I am out and about and have a big wave of anxiety come over me, just taking a minute to take a few deep breaths and remind myself “I’m ok” can often make me feel a little better.

OMGosh, you described where Iam at in my journey. I don't know how to regulate feeling the feelings after all that happens, It cannot be suppressed or just let it go as it just got and continues to be overwhelming. My physical pain puts a burden in processing it out outside my home. It's like having a weight on in the middle of the ocean. I want to scream and cry at the same time. I believe at most critical times id be better off if I had support or an advocate, I got through most my life without this isn't the path any longer. Life is just difficult sometimes and changes fast. I love your videos. I appreciate your chats and sharing what you do or feel able to on social media. 🌹 You seem to have a great team of people to love on you during this time as you process your thoughts and steps of "feeling the feels" Accepting, validation and being heard are key factors. I was very mentally strong growing up and had some stuff in my early twenties that crushed me. Since then I also have a shorter fuse on my emotions and having to navigate regulating them differently than I used to. I saw this Pinterest quote that said if you’re overthinking, write. If you’re anxious, move. If you’re tired, read. And if you’re sad, exercise. This helps me to remember what to do in those scenarios and not just sit in them, haha.

Hey Michel! I struggled a lot with anxiety in my second year of university, and while therapy is very useful and worked wonders for me, I found that getting a prescription for the lowest dose of anxiety medication completely changed my life. I know that medication can seem controversial and maybe like “an easy out” solution to anxiety, but it truly helps me every single day. I honestly did not want to go on new medication for it, but once I did I was so thankful that I tried it out. I also love exercise and scheduling rest to help keep my mental health in check, but I feel like my medication allows me to get a basic level of anxiety out of the way so that I can focus my energy on further improving my mental health (gym, journaling, seeing friends, etc.). Not sure if this helps. Anyways, you should be really proud of yourself for making the changes that you already have! Happy to see you prioritizing how you’re feeling. Sending lots of love 💕💕

I’m new to this ”always anxious” feeling, it started about two years ago for me. The only thing that really works for me is to say ”it’s okay that I’m feeling this way, but I’m gonna focus on what I want and keep going with my day.” Anxiety tends to get bigger and bigger the more you focus on it, and it gets impossible to get out of. To sit with the feeling, keep going and forcing your brain to focus on something else, even if it’s slow, it works! CBT is bomb for anxious anxious girls😅🥰 It’s so hard, every day has it struggles, but I can look back and see the progress now. I used to have the pressure over my chest, feel sick and heart pumping like crazy almost all hours of every day, and now maybe a few times a week. Theraphy and time🫶🏻 Sending you the biggest of hugs❤️

For me I’ve had anxiety for years. What I try and do when I get flare ups is unplug entirely, delete socials for a few hours if needed. Read a book, drink some tea, and write out thoughts whether that be just a list, words that describe how you’re feeling, etc. Also, phoning a friend is super helpful! For me it helps getting those feelings out so I don’t feel that weight on the inside. ❤

I have a lot of anxiety that fluctuates with my surroundings and hormonal cycles, and one thing that always seems to help is to journal digitally in a stream-of-consciousness method so I get all the thoughts out of my brain and written down. It almost always allows me to take a deep breath and realize that the thoughts/anxiety are just temporary. I use a digital journal because it’s faster for me than writing by hand, but it’s more the throwaway journal entry that helps. The same idea as “write a letter and burn it” but in typing form :)

You described perfectly, how I've been feeling lately. I'm not generally an anxious person, but I finally understand what people mean when they talk about anxiety - the tension in my chest was especially spot on. Going to hot pilates + yoga, finding moments of complete silence without something on (not even music), doing short meditations in the morning (I like Headspace), taking longer to respond to texts, and stopping myself when I start trying to plan my future (this is a big one for me) has been easing the anxiety up quite a bit.

I have found that sensory input helps a lot when I feel like untenable and anxious. I'm usually overestimated in some way, for me it's auditory usually so I have noise cancelling headphones. I'm getting ear plugs too. Also touch and physical sensation things help too. I sometimes have things in my pocket that help, or I wear particular jewelry especially hala bracelets that I can self sooth with by rubbing it along the weave of the bracelet. It's this idea of getting out of your head and into a physical space and sensation to anchor yourself.

Thanks for sharing your struggles and helping to normalize mental health struggles! One thing that helps me is just journaling or writing on a post it by my bed the thoughts. Not correcting it, necessarily but just getting it out helps. Also it might help to do the “five senses” technique where you focus on the room your in and what are 5 things you are touching, smell, see, hear, and taste.

Paying attention to what I’m eating has greatly helped reduce my anxiety. Similar to how you feel a heavy weight on your chest I felt like someone was literally choking me when I became anxious and it was difficult to catch my breath. Eating protein, healthy fats, and fiber (in that order) has been a game changer as well as lessening the amount of carbs, overly processed foods, and sugar I was eating. There’s soo many studies coming out now that strongly link anxiety and depression to diet. I really encourage you to give it a try and see how you feel! I think it could really help. Much love ❤

I have always been a very emotional, sensitive person. I think feeling is beautiful; for me I appreciate those beautiful, joyful moments even more because I know deep sadness and grief. I also believe expressing your emotions is so brave and strong, so perhaps changing your perspective on feeling emotions may help a bit. But, I have felt that kind of anxiety from childhood trauma and during those times it helps to ground myself. So when I feel my body panic I have to let it know that it is safe now. So looking at things around me taking notice of them helps and also literally tell myself I know you feel scared but you are safe now, you are loved, you are strong now. The body does keep score❤️

As a soul who has lived and continues to live with 'resisting' and 'grasping' aka anxiety, the only way to get through it is to go through it..right? I have found that the mind is it's own universe and sometimes it has thoughts that don't make sense to us, so I have learned to just let the mind have these thought and trust that they will pass...thoughts come and go...no need to engage or participate...acknowledge and accept what is happening within you and balance that with activities outside you that center and ground you * you and Jordy's energy matches so well! thanks for sharing so candidly 🤗

The Word of God is what got me through pretty crippling panic attacks that led me quickly into depression. They started after a death in the family but just hit me out of nowhere. I was NEVER the person with any kind of "mental issues" - always happy, always "go with the flow". I didn't know of anyone else dealing with this or had ever dealt with this. I had friends that tried to help and did somewhat. However, they'd never gone through this either. So it was me and Jesus. I slowly but surely stopped having panic attacks and my depression went away. It was a lot of me meditating on what God's Word said about me and my future and keeping my mind on that. That was about 10 years ago. I do have anxiety that tries to creep in, but I'm very diligent on what my thoughts are. God says to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ Jesus. I am the gatekeeper of my thoughts. I take that job seriously bc Satan walks around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. To be "un-devourable", stay close to Jesus by knowing His Word, saying His Word, believing His Word! God bless! ❤️

hi michel! i used to have almost constant anxiety from seemingly nowhere! a few very practical things that have helped: - starting my day off with a high protein meal! something about it makes me feel so much more steady than starting with something high-carb like oatmeal - even though that's always what i want first thing 🥲 - i don't know if it's worse because i'm pregnant, but i have found that now, even one cup of coffee will make me super anxious (that same tight chest feeling) for at least several hours down the line. it's sad because i used to drink multiple cups a day! but i never realized how much it affected me until now, so i stick to matcha :) - i used to put so much pressure on myself to always be accomplishing something, so i was always anxious whenever i was not doing something (even trying to relax felt like i was avoiding doing something i "should be"). taking that pressure off & knowing that everything will be ok, even if i rest, has been big for relieving that constant under-the-surface worry! - this ties into CBT, or basically any practice that has you writing out your thoughts and where they came from, and then coming up with a more realistic mindset about what's worrying you! just taking it easy on yourself, like you do with jordy :)) hope this helps! love you and i would totally be interested in a candle by you 🤩

I find meditation to be really really helpful when feeling anxiety/overwhelming thoughts. Taking 5 minutes to try to clear your head and sit with those feelings but not judge the feelings. Acknowledging the thoughts as just that a thought or feeling really helps me create a sense of space.

I had life altering, completely debilitating anxiety that I couldn’t self manage until I got put onto medication. It’s worked wonders for me. I got my life back. Now I find working out and being outside and with friends is amazing. Good luck finding what helps you ❤ and the daily songs from the bf are so incredibly sweet

I have these moments too. I decided to recognize the feeling, acknowledge it, and reassure myself that I am fine. I find that exercice, hobbies, music, cleaning/organizing, speaking with a friend/ask how they are doing, helps me (not all these at the same time 😂 except for music. I love music with everything 😀). I like Jordy’s song!

With anxious thoughts for a long time I would distract myself and try think of something else or try to suppress them because the feeling felt overwhelming, now I am learning how to sit with them and allow it to be there. Meditation helps me as well to get used to sitting with the emotion. Hope this helps 🤗

I have found writing is very helpful to me when relieving stress. I keep a prayer journal that also has become my “talks” with God. No it isn’t always safe but you can always lock it up or burn the pages you really don’t want anyone else to see. It’s still been written! I let it all out on those pages and knowing full well that God already knows my struggles, it still helps me to get it all out. I think I have 16 journals from between now and 1995. That was the year my daughter, Ashley was born. Sometimes I read them and I can clearly see where God has/had answered my prayers or intervened in a situation. It can be such a blessing.

I am so sorry to hear that and so glad at the same time. My yolk spilled the past 3 weeks (great analogy 👌🏼) and I am about 6 months behind you in getting a divorce. I was really just surviving and I feel like now I can start grieving and feeling my feelings. The best things for my anxious thoughts that I haven’t seen mentioned is to take a nap. It took me a little Training to fall asleep with so many thoughts but it helps incredibly - I feel quite literally unplugged before and charged afterwards. So this is my top tip. And then the other thing I wanted to mention is whether you feel like your most anxious times correlate with a certain time of your cycle, and if so to talk to your ObGyn about it. Sending much love from the South of Germany, you helped me so much Michel, so thank you! 🤗

I feel ya on the anxiety! I’m sadly very familiar with that anxious, panicky, weight on your chest feeling. What helps me is an early morning routine including exercise or meditation first thing, coffee afterward (I like to think of it as my reward), journal (intentionally practice gratitude), and plan my day (starts with setting an intention). I hope you begin to feel more balanced soon! 🙏🏻 Love you, love your channel; you’re a pretty impressive human, y’know? You got this. ✨ 💪🏻 Also, I’m very excited to try that easy matcha hack! Thank you!

One really quick thing that helps me when I feel anxious or overly emotional is I breathe in for a count of 5, hold my breath for a count of 5 and release my breath for as long as it comes out. The deep breathing seems to really calm my nervous system.

Oh Jordy, that song totally made me cry. That was such a sweet song. I think I cried because I'm so happy that you found that big, beautiful love that you so deserve. I'm so happy for you. I also suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. I know caffeine really effects me. Green tea (matcha) can sometimes have more caffeine than some coffee. I think you're doing everything right though. For me acknowledging it, and knowing that the feelings were controlled by my brain made it better for me. You feel as though you're physically dying, and that made my anxiety worse. I think you're on the right track!

Thanks for sharing your ways that you’re dealing with anxiety. I could totally related to those feelings you described. Something I’ve been trying to practice more off too is meditation. I find it to be calming and focusing and after I usually feel less anxious.

I have anxiety for couple years and that’s feeling you mention comes and go. So I always have notice about the coffee intake and when my surrounding is messy or loud, I’ve been avoiding going to areas thats are crowded like restaurants, stores . I have been drinking match in morning and also stoped drinking black tea which so hard . I have just drink chai tea in the after and drink a lot water and just Trying not to put too many things on my plate and really intentionally I’m saying like after work now I guess the house is messy but I gotta sit down. I need to take a deep breath. I need to relax and not to think about to do list that I have that has helped me a lot a lot

Ugh the anxiety feeling is the worst. I've dealt with it as long as I can remember essentially. I spent most of my life thus far also hating it, which is our natural response. However, once I started to deal with my own mental health, I began to learn from others that responding to this fear of having the anxiety is what keeps the fire going (at least for me and the way my brain works. I do also have OCD which is different but overlaps). So the biggest encouragement I can give ya, is that even though you will hate and likely afraid of and want to avoid this anxious feeling, do what you can do physically and mentally respond in a way that says, "okay, I'm anxious. Cool. I'll just ride it out and let it pass." - and it always does :) May sound obvious or may sound odd, but for me, I've seen that literally telling myself this and trying to have this mindset in the middle of these anxious moments, is actually incredibly helpful. It's sort of playing a trick on your mind, as if the anxiety is like this bully who keeps pestering you. The more you get agitated, the more it feeds the cycle. But if you say, "oh well, that's fine" and let it be (even you still feel incredibly anxious), it soon has nothing to feed off of and just goes away. I think this part of the brain that needs to learn this distinction is the behavioral part. It's like you can know it cognitively, but it's different when you help yourself to see that, even though your anxious, you still end up being alright. --- don't take those details as being completely accurate, just doin my best to phrase some of the things I've learned but probably did not say it perfectly. Hope that makes some sense and applies to what you are talking about. I know it's a horrendous feeling, and changing our coping ways is so hard. I feel for you. You're doing amazing! Thank for sharing with us. :)))

I have general anxiety disorder and pstd, my favorite tools are mindful meditations like using headspace app or insight timer, breathing exercises like wim Hoff. And taking cold showers or cold ocean swims. It’s shocks your system and helps to take your nervous system from sympathetic (fight or flight) to parasympathetic (happy place) Oh and yes lots of yoga 😊

I broke my knee, normally very active. My daughter is closer to your age than myself. Love you and Jordy. His song to you made me cry. We will try to see him in concert in Oregon. Anxiety gets better, I used to get worried about things especially when I was a college student. My late Dad used to tell me, you are okay. Simple but helpful to this day.

I have struggled with anxiety to the point that I developed insomnia and had major issues trying to fall asleep. I would dread going to bed because I was scared of feeling the anxiety and fighting with my brain all night. I recently got sick and wasn't drinking coffee and noticed a HUGE difference. I have WAY less anxiety and actually look forward to getting into bed now! It's been such a game-changer. Like Michel, I loved my morning lattes so I have since switched to decaf ☕️
