I don't think leather is the best option, unless you maintain it with washing and proper leather oil. I'd look for a backpack from Scandinavian outdoor scandinavianoutdoor.com/gear/backpacks-and-bags/backpacks/?sort=most-popular, they are all meant to endure the Nordic weather
