While the "too dead to be a nerdfighter?" Might sound like a joke to new comers. It's actually heartwarming and a little sad. Ester Earl was one of the first Nerdfighters and is responsible for a lot (most of) how this community acts and has grown in the years since her passing. She was just a teenager when she died of cancer but she's inspired the whole community in a way few people ever could. In a lot of ways she's the heart of the community, a kind of guiding force for how we should all try to be. I may not have known her personally but I've seen the effect she had on not just Hank and John as people, but on how they are as KZbinrs, and authors, and on those who call themselves Nerdfighters. So yes, you are never too dead to be a nerdfighter. Or too leave an impact on other people.

Now that I think about it, it's not too difficult. Walden, Candide, Artemis Fowl, Harry Potter, Poor Richard's Almanack, Mockingjay, The Brothers Karamazov, basically anything that's a name. The phenomenon seems to work best with book titles containing the words "the" or "a," or simply describing physical or otherwise symbolic objects. It doesn't work too well with proper nouns, however.

This is the first comment I have EVER made on KZbin. I don't watch that much on KZbin, nor do I make videos. I made a channel just to comment about the vlogbrothers. I watched John's video regarding the Bullied 7th grade girl and followed a link here. I just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration. I removed my daughter from public school because 7th grade was utterly miserable for her. She is gifted with great intelligence and was taking all AP classes. But, she was being bullied and sexually harassed. However, not much was done by the administration to stop it. She is now homeschooled and racing ahead academically but, her self esteem is not that great. Unfortunately, she took what those sad and misdirected young people said to her, to heart. I think she is pure awesome. She is beautiful, funny, bright, nerdy (which is a good thing!!!) and passionate. So, I will be encouraging her to first watch the video of John, regarding bullying, and then to watch vlogbrothers. I am now a Nerdfighter and I sincerely hope she will become one too! Thank you, gentlemen, for being so remarkable and making this channel.
