After a few years, it will feel like xmas. You could do other cold foods like pavlova, potato salads, pasta salads, cold lamb or chicken or turkey. Lots of dips and cold desserts. You will eventually get over the desire for a big hot meal on the day. Even go somewhere where you are catered for on xmas day.

Yeah I guess we will just have to find a new Christmas tradition over here. Have a great Christmas thanks for watching

Christmas in July for the roast dinner. Lots of restaurants do Christmas in July events with decorations, tree, carols and roast dinners. Book in advance. Been to a few really nice. Usually the fancy restaurants and RSLs host them.. Some have open fire place going too@TheGreatEmigrate

16 Aussie Christmases for me now. Very different here. I do like not having to listen to Christmas songs as much. Have noticed Nova radio play the new ones which is unusual. Normally you never hear them. Aussie Christmas build up is usually: Shopping Christmas lights viewing. Some streets go crazy and listed on media sources. Christmas carols concerts outdoors. The cities host Christmas events of various things. Food on Christmas day is often ham but most generally do a feast of various around ham. I love seafood here it is the best in the world you should try it. All of it. Definitely my number one go to in Queensland. Decorations come down from boxing day to before New Years eve. Rarely see them by New Year. NYE is bigger than UK. A lot more party's and things going on. Everyone goes out and the public transport is free runs all night. So don't be afraid to go out.

Merry Xmas to both of you. Are you planning any day trips during the holidays? There are plenty of different places to see on the Sunshine Coast, there is an authentic English Castle at Bli Bli (Sunshine Castle) that you can walk around and view the different displays they have. There is also the Sea Life aquarium at Mooloolaba that's enormous and worth a visit. It is a lot quicker to go across the Gateway Bridge, but you will have to set up an account with Linkt the Toll Road company and it costs about $5 each way..

I am possibly the worst cook in the WORLD but struth, even I can roast a spud. Good tip for the new year, LEARN HOW TO COOK.
@TheGreatEmigrate20 күн бұрын
If you listened i said I could cook but couldn't be fussed with the hassle, thanks for watching
@wallywombat16420 күн бұрын
Oh, the hassle of shoving a spuud or two in the oven. My heart bleeds for you. You are leaving a terrific example for your kids. If somebody buys your joint in england, they can take comfort knowing that the oven and kitchen appliances are brand new.
@TheGreatEmigrate20 күн бұрын
@wallywombat164 yeah it will be worth more then wouldn't it so we can buy a massive house here
@Mrsemigrate20 күн бұрын
@@wallywombat164that’s actually true. Lucky we work so hard to afford not to have to cook. Life’s too short to spend time doing things you don’t enjoy

Wally, from your commentS, I perceive that you are a curmudgeon and give a bad name to wombats. Where is your Christmas spirit of goodwill? Don't get back to me with your usual nasty responses as you will be talking to 'the hand'.

Good on ya's hope you enjoy your life here , the way Starmer is doing people over in the UK ,its a wonder more are not coming , its a bit like inviting the long lost family home . Most of us have British family even though it was from a long time ago .

When you do buy, are you looking to stay in the bay area? I grew up in the eastern suburbs on the southside e.g. Carina, Camp Hill, Coorparoo. When I got married, we bought our first home in the eastern suburbs. Then in 2000 we moved to the bay area, been here ever since. Love it the most.

@somefatbugger yeah we think so guess it just depends what is available at the time, have a merry Xmas
