This vlog was so lovely.I have only ever knit in the flat.When I tried to knit in the round I just didn't like.I suppose it is what your used to, Would you be able to show how you sew in your ends and sew your garment up?I would love to see your method for and tips. Both garments are beautiful,the colours and patterns are fab,

Your vlogs are so lovely, Amy. You do super things with Johnny too. Oh, Phildar, that took me back to my voracious knitting in the 70s. I’ve not heard that name for a long while. I loved Phildar patterns and knitted quite a few. I still always knit flat, I always gave done. 🎄✨🧶🇬🇧x

I visited Wisley in the summer and it was absolutely stunning! So nice to see the beautiful flowers and grounds at this time of year ❤️ And wee J is great with a spoon!!!

The cardigan is so beautiful and I always used to knit flat but do enjoy knitting in the round, never knitted and French pattern though xx

Both definitely have their place don’t they! There is something so brilliant about being finished with not stitching up etc… when you work in the round ❤

I've recently knit a couple of sweaters flat. I hate seaming, but there is something appealing about the knitting of the panels. Over the summer I bought an amigurumi book that I've been desperate to have but is only published in French. It's been surprisingly easy to translate enough to work the patterns. I'm really enjoying your vlogs. Thanks for sharing!

I love your vlogmas! Jack and Johnny are so cute, I love Johnny's warm all in one 😍 your cardigan is gorgeous too!! The colours are perfect! I seamed some of Karl's baby cardigans which were knit flat and bottom up (I agree this was how they were always done ages ago!) And now I've learnt some finishing techniques I find I can still get a lovely looking garment :)

Love love the cardigans ❤️. I haven’t knitted anything flat for several years and never translated a pattern or colour work. I would love to have a go at colour work maybe that’s a project for this winter!

Lovely vlogmas and loved seeing Johnny with his yoghurt! I knitted the Robinia Cardigan as a flat piece and I agree you do see the garment grow faster. I am not keen on the sewing at the end though.

I’m loving your vlogmas videos 😊 I’ve never knit a garment flat I really must try it, yours is going to be beautiful 😊 My daughter also had Perthes when she was 8 she’s now 19, she had a small op 2 years ago just to release a tendon around the hip but is absolutely fine, hope Jacks is ok xx ( Tracy)

I prefer knitting adult sized garments flat and then seaming them as I think it is a better way of construction for larger items. I've just knitted a Norwegian pattern too

It does add structure that you don’t get otherwise!

I speak English, German and French, so have knitted in all those languages but I‘ve also knitted in Norwegian and Danish without too much difficulty - as you say, Google translate is surprisingly good, I find even with knitting terms. Tbh, the translation apps are what have put me out of work as a professional translator, they are so good nowadays…. Perhaps what is more difficult to grasp is the style patterns are written in, as that is something that is quite different in other languages and some people struggle with that more than the actual terms!

Yes if I had changed it to have been every 3 rows but then the dots wouldn’t have looked so nicely spaced so I decided to stick with how the pattern had it 😊
