Hey everyone!
December's A4 Community Care Hamper run by Peter and Lois and the Aberdeen Pantry! Thank you!
Enjoy!
The website still has A LOT to go on it, there is a lot of dead links and empty space and even some 'sample stuff' from the template I bought, but if you'd like to look at how a sample recipe will look, here's a link and feedback is always welcome :)

I love your monthly hampers (I'm sure I've mentioned that!). Your lockbox reminded me of when I was young my mother would lock up all the chocolate, cookies, potato chips etc. in a lower kitchen cupboard. My genius sister figured out that if we took out the drawer above the treats, we had full access to them. I'm not sure my mother ever caught on. 😅

Lol, clever! They're pretty good with everything else! They do gorge themselves on some of the less often bought fruit, but I don't mind that because I want it eaten fairly quickly, but their savoury stuff they're not too bad, but chocolate! just must be too tempting for them to control themselves!

Memories of what I did when my boys were young. I would shop every 2 weeks (grocery store was at the end of the block) because I didn't have a car and I was a single parent. I would buy cereal and snacks, for instance, and they would be gone in about 2 days....literally. Seven boxes of cereal and about 6 bags of snacks! I then bought a lock and locked them up in my closet. They were so mad but they lasted. Difficult to work full time, no car, the oldest watched the youngest, no child support and try to stretch things. It was my solution. I haven't purchased cereal in 25-30 years and I die of sticker shock when I see the prices now. They would eat toast and eggs or something if I had little ones now.

Yeah, I buy bare minimum cereal, mostly for that first week or two when it makes my life easier to not have to cook breakfast/bake bread lol... I'm a cheapskate too, I only buy the basics in cereal lol.

I laughed at the safe Nyssa and got it. Have four brothers and two sisters and remember the things my Mum resorted to, not just hiding sweets, also bread and milk. 16 pints delivered a day and still none the next morning, my brothers used to use mixing bowls as cereal bowls, surprised my Mum still has any hair after coping with us growing up.

We have locks on the actual fridges. They aren’t used all that often, it’s more when the kids (toddlers) are being indecisive and just keep going into the fridge to ‘look’ or taking things out, opening them and not eating. They still have access to so much food but sometimes just locking the fridge for 10 mins is a reset and then are no longer fixated. I thoroughly enjoy all of your videos Nyssa.

I know exactly what you mean about assisting offspring to eke out treats . Lol . It comes natural to me so I'm surprised that only 1 of my 5 find it easier. There is hope , my 4 older ones do well now , probably due to the fact that they buy most of their own treats and I only have to assist with the home-made desserts etc. That Lindt chocolate dairy free is delicious. I'll have to see if they're marked down here , I hope they don't discontinue them. Great hamper , thank you for sharing lovely

That looks like the best and most useful Hamper I've seen since you've been posting them ..and that Bubble tea is a Japanese drink ..A tapioca pearl, also known as tapioca ball, is an edible translucent sphere produced from tapioca, a starch made from the cassava root. They originated as a cheaper alternative to sago in Southeast Asian cuisine. When used as an ingredient in bubble tea, they are most commonly referred to as pearls or boba.

I was forced to lock up one of our 2 fridges.."my food prep fridge " as I called it...bcuz my kids would get into whatever and mindlessly eat an entire container of protein in one sitting.. I'd go to prep a meal with the protein and find a almost empty container.. we're talking 2-4lbs of prepped meat at times... only took twice for that to happen before I changed the organization of the fridges so that I was able to lock one... and honestly it stayed locked up until my 2 eldest kiddos moved out on their own. Of course now that they are 100% financially responsible for themselves they completely understand why I did it and we all laugh about it now..lol
