Cute Shophia dress. Good tip on shirring a dress on one piece with the skirt.

I have made this dress similar to yours from Janelle of Rosery Apparel using 4 squares, but I like the straps over the shoulders

@@franckelatter9829 Hi Francke, yes they were easy ones we made in the 70’s were a strap over the shoulder or tie up straps, it was an easy make. I like many of Janelle’s dresses, she always looks lovely. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕🎄

I’m also working on the Pattern Scout Ella dress. Today i made a toile and changed the neckline because i don’t like boat necks as they always gape on me too. i traced the round neck from the Pattern Emporium be mine blouse and so far it’s looking good. Hoping to have my Miss Moresby dress done by Christmas also. I did procrastinate about making this dress but am so glad I’ve begun. Perhaps tomorrow I’ll have the courage to cut into my precious fabric.

@@michellewallace8387 That’s great Michelle, will you be cutting the dress in the bias or in the straight grain. I know I could change the neckline to something more suitable for me, but I keep looking for the perfect pattern which clearly does not exist. Good luck with your dress have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕🎄

@ I’ll be cutting on the bias as I think it will give a nicer drape. I know what you mean about looking for the perfect pattern! I mean there’s thousands out there, and I still have to end up altering one to match my own personal taste. I guess that’s because we’re all unique individuals. Best wishes.

It’s great that your replacement bobbin arrived safely Deb! I like the Sophia dress and bell sleeves and yes that excess fabric creates that illusion of a larger bust but the dress still looks lovely. Great tip on the construction of the dress. The Ella dress does look fine and l do like that chunky necklace, but you need to feel comfortable. I do appreciate your adventurous nature when it comes to making a wide variety of outfits.

@@catinthehat1486 Thanks Cat, my husband did compliment me on the Ella dress and when I said do you think it is too high in the front he asked if I had it in the wrong way around 🤦♀️. I didn’t notice the neck when I was wearing it, so I think I will leave it as is. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕🎄

Deb, you look lovely in your blue dress. The neck is probably more noticeable to you than anyone else. I like the darts. My Blanche dress has those darts, but l moved them to the bust because l didn't think l would like them. But l like them on your dress. Did you and your garden survive the heat. Your shirred dress is pretty.🪷

@@libbybennett3067 Hi Libby, I don’t think anyone else notices the neck, I think the heavy necklace holds it down and stops it being so noticeable. I extended the darts and made them longer, moved them down about 1.5cm. The garden survived the heat well and warmer once it is dark helped also. I like the shirred dress, it’s very breezy. Hope you are able to cut out and sew, Deb 🪡🧵💕🎄

You're right, Deb. All those shirred dresses we made in the 70s were made with one piece of fabric, a seam up the back or on one side, and some thin straps. We were all slender young things in those days. They were so easy to make, even I made a couple!
@dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668Күн бұрын
@ yes they were easy to make Sue, luckily your sewing machine saved the day 👍. Hope your week is not too busy, Deb 🪡🧵💕🎄
