VLX 1: The Importance of Mental Prayer

Am a lifelong Catholic. Like any other sinner, I ran hot and cold. I dragged myself back to confession (monthly), prayed a rosary each night, read the days readings, never missed a Sunday Mass, and have for the past four months enjoyed a holy hour on Fridays and Saturdays. Sometimes two hours where I can. Incrementally, stubbornly persevering, reading holy books, the bible, my favorite KZbin priests, I have arrived at a place dramatically different from where I started! My plans are that as long God will have me, I will live out what remains of my life in this way! Thank you Jesus!! Don't let me go off on my own!!!

During this video I thought myself in the perspective of St longinus, the man who pierced the heart of Jesus, he was nearly blind but was still able to see enough to be a Roman soldier. When the blood and water from jesus' heart fell into his eyes he saw perfectly. I imagine myself whipping my eyes of the blood and water and seeing what I have done to Christ. Seeing the scourged body with blood puring at every piece of skin

I'm a lay Dominican in a young community of the O.P. I've been in the Order for only a few years, having made my Temporary Promises last November. Mental prayer is central to the Dominican way, but it is often difficult for me. This series is a God-given gift for me. I will most certainly share this with my brothers and sisters in our St. Albert the Great community, and especially with the novices whom I oversee. Thank you for being a willing instrument of God during these times of chastisement, and may He bless you richly for it. I try to enter into a rosary rather than say one. I try to be there in the sence of each mystery . I have often seen my 13 year old daughter cry during the rosary of the 7 sorrows of Mary .I take great comfort that she is with Mary profoundly during her prayer.

When we pray we should never be distracted on something else. Praying 15 decade rosary is good but if not thinking on the virtue or bible scene then it's not much effective.
