People don't know they get loud too. Had a pair of v2 12's on audio art 100hc. You'll be hard pressed to find louder 2 12's on 1k even today. Not to mention the depth of bass is second to none.

IDQ’s are nice, You’re spot on about the tonal accuracy of the IDQ, I heard a guy coming a mile away and he had 2 IDQ 12’s and the bass was hit different.

Here is a quick idq story. I had a friend who lived towards the end of a long road in a neighborhood. The road is at least a half mile. I pull up to his house unannounced in the morning and he was already outside. I said how did you know I was coming? He said my bass woke him up, then he got up and got dressed before I showed up. I was running two idq 12s with a zapco ag1000 amp in 2001. Back then the idqs were only rated at 350 rms but everyone said they could take much more so I overpowered. They lasted a long time and that low end was like a literal earthquake in my car. Everybody knew when I was coming. They all said they could tell the difference between every other system that drove by and mine. People would ask me to turn down my music before driving close to their house so pictures wouldn't fall off. I am planning on buying another set. Glad to see someone give these subs the credit they deserve.

Nice i just purchased a vmaxx 12 and just happen to have and idmax v3 12 both have an amp feeding each individually, the idmax is super smooth while this vega like the man said feels like it is slapping you in the face, quite the balance, sq and spl combined 👍

The Image Dynamics Buyers Guide says that they recommend sealed enclosures for the IDMax Subs. But I see a lot of custom ported enclosures for them. Will the sound quality be lost if you put the IDQ or IDMax subs in ported boxes rather than sealed boxes? Btw, my first audio build in 1999-2000 was 2- IDQ 12’s with Rockford Fosgate Punch 800.1

I ran 4 IDQ 12s on 2 PG Tantrum’s 500.2 @ 4 ohms in a 6 cuft sealed box in 2003. It was some of the cleanest bass anyone heard. Got out of the game because I had my firstborn. 16 years later, I decided to do something for myself. Life story fast forward, I turned our Chevy traverse into my toy. 6 months in I’ve been through a Crossfire 12 C3 ported(amp: crossfire C3-500 at 1ohm), a 4th order 12 c7, 2 15s c5 in a box that’s entirely too small(5.0 at most before displacement) powered by a CF BMF-1700d, because of the sound. It’s not accurate. Even the C3 in a 2.15 cuft box tuned at 35 hz sounded muddy. After watching your videos, I decided to start over from the ground up. No longer going with the SPL subs, I know what image dynamics can do. Today, I ordered 2 IDMAX 12s purely based on this video. Thank you for you stating facts and saving us money. New amp is DD Audio M1d

I had an original cerwin vega stroker 18d2 in my VW Beetle and it was the craziest shit ever. But when I bought a ID12 for my girlfriend for her truck cause it was the best speaker on the shelf of this hole in the wall shop I went to. (i knew nothing about them) I was blown away by the deep clear clean bass like nothing I had ever heard. My favorite subs now. Thank goodness someone bought them or whatever happened a while back when they seemed to be discontinued or went under. Forget the other "spl" subs. If you don't compete, do yourself a favor and get yourself some ID subs. Get 1 IDQ 12 for your small car and a 500watt rms amp and be blown away by the loud quality bass.

I have a few pairs of different brands of 8s. Skar ma-8s, Sundown Audio Ev5 8s, Sundown Sa8v3s w/spl coil, Savard Hi-Q 8s, Ascendant Audio rve 2.5 8s, and Jones Subwoofer Solutions 8s. I run a 2:1 6th order in my Trailblazer. I've only ran the Skar 8s in a ported box and only the Sa8v3s in the 6th order. I love these videos.

brotha brotha brotha you can not be more correct , i have a original image dynamic sub that i bought in 1999 its a lite blues solid metal basket and its single 4ohm voice coil and it only needs about 150 rms watts to power it and its still going today in my small humble sedan lol! powered by the back end of my jl audio 500/5 which i bought in 2000 but bru i just bought an idq 10 d4 4ohm for my backup collect then i bought the humble rockford R500X1D to power it so not to put strain on my battery and i found a rockford p600 likenew on amazon for 259 dollars to pair with it , and some refurb kappas 602csx component 179 dollars for backup also cause i like that ab sound combo with kappas for interior cabin , trying to stay old school bru as long as i can lol !!!

I've been running two idq8 on a soundstream "18000" at 4ohm for years...in a ported box. They will definitely do their rated rms in a proper box.

Good shit man. I just bought a Chrysler 300. I bought a big ass 12" sub and built a box for it. Shit was way too damn heavy. I lowered my car and it was causing too much rubbing and bottoming out. I decided to sell the sub and the box and downsize. I had two 8" Rockfords in my old pickup and I was thinking about going back to 8's to save a lil bit of weight. I'm just trying to find the right subs and the right kind of building material to make it as light as I can.

One of the reasons I'm switching from car audio to home audio subs for my car is because the home audio subs tend to be sooooo much lighter!! The 18" sub I may get has a Mms of only 165 g !!!! and STILL have a fs of 29Hz!!! Try finding that in a car audio sub !!!!

in other words.. different drivers designed for different application ..one is purely aimed for maximizing output while the other is aimed at maximizing sound quality..simple as that...the choice is yours ..what do you prefer ...very loud bass... generally most do so you'd get a SPL driver right?? yeah..perhaps..but thats only because when people using SQ drivers at a tuning too low of their most efficient ranges just makes them SEEM like their aren't that loud...that IDQ8 can be a REAL meany but in no way..did it EVER...deviate from the bassline in the songs i played on it at very high volume levels..its quick has no problem with speed ..and can still shake a box at around 22hz or so even tho its like 44 inches in length 20 inches in width and 9 inches in height....just...wow.....its a solid driver and i accidentally bottomed it out many times and its still rockin on like normal..tough driver...

Stiffness has little to no impact on how much power a sub can take it’s only affects abou2-5% of the power handling what it dose effect is how fast and low a sub can play softer spiders play lower and quick tighter spiders play slower and high hence why bigger subs mentioned for spl are really stiff and just slow response to notes but that has nothing on sq to much but still is a notable conversation and very noticeable difference

Mms motor force is alot but not 1 spl or 1000 rms sub is gonna have a soft spider usually they double spidered . Xmax x mech has to be a good amount to.be loud single softer spiders usually on svc 150 to 300 rms subs with 2 inch coils with 6 to 10 mm xmax

that kinda didn't make sense..what you mean the spl driver needed an epicenter to get the depth the SQ driver did without the epicenter.....that just makes no sense...just say the SPL doesn't sound deep like the SQ driver ..i have noticed this myself..even the IDMAX 10 doesn't sound deep as the IDQ....maybe because of how the IDQ was very clearly aimed towards pure SQ and IDMAX was a mix of SQ and SPL
