Follow along with step-by-step instructions on how to swap your old blower for the new VMP Gen3.
00:08 | Drain coolant
00:16 | Remove throttle cable bracket
00:37 | Remove throttle body
00:45 | Remove inlet elbow
00:56 | Remove radiator hoses
1:13 | Remove supercharger belt
1:20 | Unplug fuel injectors
1:38 | Remove fuel rail bolts
2:00 | Remove fuel rails
2:13 | Remove coolant transfer tubes
2:24 | Remove vacuum lines from supercharger
2:30 | Remove vacuum port
2:34 | Remove vacuum line from bypass valve
2:38 | Unbolt lower intake manifold
3:09 | Remove supercharger and intake assembly
3:21 | Remove lower intake manifold gaskets
3:26 | Tape off heads
3:37 | Remove T-Map sensor
3:48 | Unbolt lower intake bolts
4:20 | Remove the water outlet
4:42 | Remove blower and intercooler brick
4:47 | Remove blower from intercooler brick
5:42 | Apply gasket maker to intercooler brick
5:51 | Install intercooler brick onto VMP Gen3 blower
6:40 | Install supercharger gasket
6:45 | Install VMP Gen3 blower onto lower intake manifold
6:54 | Replace supercharger bolts
7:14 | Install T-Map sensor
7:30 | Reinstall the water outlet
7:55 | Reinstall fuel rails
8:38 | Clearance the coolant crossover tube
9:05 | Reinstall lower intake manifold gaskets
9:19 | Install the VMP Gen3 supecharger
9:26 | Reinstall lower intake manifold bolts
9:34 | Reinstall vacuum lines
9:37 | Reinstall elbow
9:43 | Reinstall throttle body
10:04 | Reinstall throttle cable bracket
10:28 | Install pulley
10:51 | Install supercharger belt
11:05 | Install cold air intake

Nice to see some love being thrown at the older cars , I don't own a Cobra , but I do own a 02 2v , first car I ever bought brand new , and I'll never part with it . We all know just how capable these new mustangs are , I also own a 17 premium . Good job on showing the Cobra guys some love !

Puckered up a bit when i saw the water come out of the hose and go into the intake ports when you were re instaling the blower lol

holy crap. Im not going to clearance my coolant crossover tube like that. Cant you make or fabricate a new one included with the kit?

I like everything about it besides having to smash my crossover tube... it should have been designed to clear everything.

In a perfect world yes, but we are putting the latest supercharger on a car that is 16 years old. The original blower was very narrow and the 2.65l is very wide for efficiency. This was the best tradeoff when it came to hood clearance and overall fitment.

You really should show how to tighten the elbow bolt on the bottom toward front of car 😂 because you can’t when blower is all the way down

Thanks 03 cobra, we could, but its very important to have a good feel, as some of the bolts are known to break. You can often feel this with a regular ratchet than a big long torque wrench.

I hear ya. Its a small little inch lb wrench actually. Unless you have money and can afford snap on digital. Which I cannot. Great video though. It really helps the small guys out here grinding trying to save every penny, so they can dump it right back into the build. The struggle is real.

Ive been indecisive with Gen3 2.65 or 2.9 Whipple... leaning more toward Whipple because I haven't seen VMP dynos or reviews. I have 6 weeks to make decision. Sooo is this new VMP a must have? or

How come you have to drain the engine coolant ? I’ve never had to do that with any supercharger install

We replaced the cooling crossover tube o-rings on this one .

Hi Danny, we removed the crossover tube to replace the o-rings (with the new ones provided) as part of the modification to it. Just extra insurance.

I just bought this kit and on the 5inch silicon sleeve that connects to the throttle body there is not a hole for me to connect the hose coming from the top of the crankcase what can I do?

In this video I see a oil separator do you recommend that or a push breather?

A catch can can be helpful to monitor certain attributes of your engine's health, but would take a little pricier kit to remote mount a catch can with a breather. The more power/boost you're running, the more crankcase pressure and more use you'll get out of a nicer breather/catch can assembly.
