Went from a VMP GEN2R to the Gen 5 3L. Both blowers are great but the Gen5 hits sooo hard when you dig into boost and you can actually put your hand on it after making a pull. I imagine that Odin is going to make a butt ton of power though. Both are great IMHO!

This test was already done at VMP...only few know about it because the Odin something like 150hp down vs the Whipple. This was at over 1,000whp however. Really spinning them up. The Whipple did have the cobra jet intercooler though. Summery...a Whipple car came in, they tested, swapped blowers then did more dyno testing, customer said put the Whipple back on so it left with a Whipple 😁

Cobra jet adds like 150hp. So minus the cobra jet, the two would be more close. I imagine VMP could come up with their own big lid cobra jet style if they wanted.

Unless you're going for 1000+ then odin is the way to go bigger isn't always better until you really push the blower... so for me imo for a 750-800 whp build I would pick odin

The VMP is a magnussen supercharger. They’ve been around just about as long as the whipple. They’ve both been top tier performers since their inceptions. In my opinion, I’d take a whipple over the VMP because a twin screw is the most efficient form of supercharging. TVS is still based on a Roots style blower (which is slightly different than a twin screw) but with more efficiency. That said, neither blower should be taken lightly on the street or strip because they are both deadly to go against (competition wise). A twin screw is just my personal preference.

@@50_sally Basically, the VMP "Roots" blower doesnt technically generate boost. It generates a massive amount of airflow between the rotors and the intake valve(s) such that the air in that space pressurizes forming "boost" pressure. The Whipple Twin Screw actually generates pressurized air (boost) between the 2 supercharger screws and that pressurized air charge fills the volume between the rotors and intake valve(s).

Great content and looking forward to the test results, man! If possible, show the difference in IAT2 temps, including after repeated pulls. Obviously hp/torque numbers are good, but the difference in cooling would be great to see as well. Once again, thanks for doing this comparison.

Ive never been in a Whipple car yet, but I'll tell you the Odin hits real hard! I only went with it because I could get it so much faster and I'm very pleased with my choice! No question!

much love to the guys at VMP for taking an existing mag blower and IMPROVING it, however, they are competing at a price point on par with Whipple, and it feels like its Harley Davidson vs Victory. If they were to try to play in an area of price $1000-$1500 less than whipple I would imagine these would be FLYING off the shelves. This coming from a previous consumer of the original VMP 2.3 TVS on my 08 GT500. 650whp to the tires and $2000 less than Kenne Belll. Via the reason I chose VMP over KB

Definitely the Whipple, 3.0 to a 2.65.. The VMP is basically a Magnussen blower but very nice because it has been ported. The Whipple has proven performance and the horsepower upside is massive. The Whipple looks better under the hood. Of course is just my opinion. Looking forward to seeing your car again Alex, been too long.

The tvs is a better blower period. Better rotor housing better rotor makes more hp in a small package its more efficient its just a better blower and tvs hit way harder then twin screws down low and maintain that all the way to redline.

Yeah peak horsepower isn't everything. I've heard you really need to pulley down on the Whipple to make it bite like a TVS blower. It does have more potential than a TVS, but it's also a bigger blower. If you're chasing a peak horsepower, Whipple is better, but usable horsepower in the rev range that's not 800+ whp, the TVS is probably the way to go

@Donchanli11 In this situation yes but if I'm being honest and you're starting from N/A with nothing that's a different conversation and going to be a matter of opinion. Which everyone has a theory and most think theirs is absolute. The truth is regardless if you pick whipple, VMP, Kennybell, Procharger, Vortech, good turbo or nitrous they all will work if the combination is right. That's the key to any good build. To many people get caught up in brands and power adder choices rather than who's behind the build and helping them. People pick things for different reasons. What kind of racing, trans, tire that's going to be ran, suspension, budget, etc. Also remember it's not how much you can make on a dyno that matters. It's how much you can get to the ground and how quickly you can bring it all in that matters. If you're really looking for some guidance let me know. Take care.

The whipple will cool better, the Odin decreased surface area and increased volume, but when it comes to cooling you want surface area, it's why your cars radiator isn't just a 3 gallon tank with fins.... its low volume high surface area

That’s not totally true. Stangmode went 8s with basic unported 6 rib Odin and only the basic twin jet throttle body stock motor . That1320chick with built motor went high 8s too with a whipple. My point is I think the two blowers, unported, are more closely matched than ppl realize or are afraid to admit. I think they are both great. Flip a coin honestly

The Whipple is also bigger than the VMP. A ported 2.65L TVS vs an unported 3L twin screw is a pretty fair comparison. I think VMP is currently working on a 3.1L TVS as well.

I have a 426 HC challenger witj a Maggy 2650 with al the support and fore triple pump e-85 mskes 1100 whp and still has room for more power so not maxed out. I have a ZL1 1e witj the exorcist build going with the gen 5 3 liter whipple for the blower because of tbe new cooling upgrades. Almost went maggy 2650r but the cooling system on tbe new whipple sold me on it. Be done in a couple of weeks. Staying with 93 pump so only looking for 959-1000 crank tops so won’t be killing it either so should be mad efficient

When I got my pulley swapped stage 3 phase 2 in a 2016 it rocked. Its sitting around 900 and is the most fun mustang I have had. My buddy had a Whipple and I use to whoop him. From the factory mine was at only 745 and his Whipple was at 850 I use to smoke him bc of the torque and power the whole time. Whipple's st only get their top HP at their highest RPMS.

Why not go twin turbo? For the superchargers You could just set up and do a volumetric air flow test on the 2 blowers using the same pully at different RPMS and measure the air flow produced L/minute. More air produced/pumped through blower/L/min = more power potential.

I prefer the vmp. I like the down low power from tvs. The Whipple makes more power top end. Acts like a centrifical supercharger. Thats why i prefer the vmp

Odin has done Mamba well however i would rather have it on a Gt350, mach 1 or a 6r80 car. The 10r80 has issues handling higher boost levels with these blowers. The stock MT82 is out of the question just get a t56 or stage 2 ben calimer mt82.

I’ve always wondered what the effect of plenum volume/how quickly the air has to make the 180 degree turn has to do with anything. I know air being pushed by a compressor doesn’t care as much air being drawn in ect. Would be neat to see though.

True but no one is running 7s in a whipple unless built motor and mods to the blower like cobra jet and extreme weight reduction. Stangmode is pretty much a full weight car and has the basic 6 rib kit with entry level throttle body and still went 8s. Very impressive either way

Okay so some that really needs to be said on the stock pulleys and stock blower of the Whipple the car makes 875 to the wheel on 10lbs and it’s a 3.0L vs the odins 2.65 however with the whipple there’s a lot more head room to increase power by doing different pulleys and porting and polishing that blower as well it’s got more capability from what I have heard and seen then the VMP not knocking VMP they’re great and the supercharger is phenomenal but stock VS stock they’re the same price but the whipple has way more power to it then the VMP

What about Kenne Bell? They make some big claims, and maybe a tad cheaper. 500 ft. Lbs just off idle is my goal.. probably never go over 6500 RPM. With manual is the 3.31 an optimum ratio? I know my 3.73 trackpack ratio has to go. Would be nice to wind out 1st to maybe 50 MPH at least w/o big drama.

Everybody seems to think it is un unfair comparison because the VMP is a ported blower, what about the fact that the Whipple is a 3.0 blower compared to the VMP 2.65 volume blower. Does the VMP ported version even get to 3.0 in volume. From my research, the Whipple will be considerably lower on torque than the Whipple. Torque = fun and a big smile, for the street it's VMP all the way.

For pump 93 I like the 2650tvs rotor pack.. But the Odin, they told me, IS ported stock ( then you can go up stages) the unported version of the Odin is called Loki.... So really just send the whipple out to Kong and let her bump.... Also wbipple due to their relationship with Ford has access to their Dyno ect and they develop their own custom OS to get around things like Enleanment built into the 18up depending on PCM strategy you can only defeat by removing the "Dyno plug"... Be interesting to see the tuners perspective starting with that custom OS and tuning it vs some of the stock strategies with the VMP.... A warranty can be bought for the Whipple and has paid out before...see Coyote Car Guy...they have a MUCH more developed racing program....VMP has excellent customer service and support their blowers for a long time.... On a street strip it's a toss up, I just cant see a max effort fully ported Jokers or Kong Whipple get taken out by an Odin with similar load outs...its IATs would also be higher because rotor speed higher and belt slip ect ect ect..... Clean sheet probably doesn't matter Stangmode has been fast on Odin, and 1000s have been fast on Whipple... This seems weird unless he just couldn't get the 60ft he wanted without adding a stall.... The test Ken mentions would be awesome and also max on 93.......

Is he being sponsored and getting it for free? Thats the only reason anyone would take a larger, more efficient twin screw and replace it with a smaller, less efficient roots. Hell have to run more boost to make the same power. He MIGHT get a little bit harder initial hit for torque, but otherwise both blowers will make more power than most people can use, the Whipple (twin screw) is just the superior product. But I understand if he's getting free chicken out of the deal, otherwise it's a downgrade

If i had the $$ and was in the market for one, i'd go VMP cause i can get it now. Not into waiting who knows how long. Would give me an excuse to drive to FL and drive it back too! When are we going to get an update on your car Zander?

VERY strange to see. It´s like a downgrade somewhat... Both are very good options, but the Whipple 3.0 on full tilt can make a LOT more, or can run a bit ''loose''... Dont understand that choice...

Little confused here. Whipple was on the car, why not add the fuel system and dyno it then swap to the Odin. But even with that the motor is stock i don't think you will ever push these 2 blowers to their true potential. That 3.0L can easily make over 1300whp! How will you show a fair comparison? Was the Odin free???

VMP wasn't free actually.. The whipple was! And Im not looking to make 1300whp. 1000 is enough for me! And I dont like crappy customer service!

1000 is awesome power. I think both blowers are great, you can't go wrong with either...But the video is a VS's!! So how will this be determined is my only question?

I'll be shocked if the vmp outperforms the whipple even with the port. mustang lifestyle had a vmp on his gt500 and had all kinds of problems with heat soak where he switched over to whipple and made way more power

He didnt have problems with heat soak because of the vmp blower it was an intercooler issue stop spreading false bullshit. He barely even tested the vmp never seen what it could really do and he switched over because hes part of the bigger is better louder is better crowd. The 3.8 really didnt perform that far above the vmp to be honest with you considering its 3.8 vs 2.65 it picked up 100 whp or so but alot of that gain was from the bigger intake he went with there would have been gains with that intake on the vmp blower too he was at 1100+ rwhp on the vmp and was running a jlt 123 is known to not support much above 800 rwhp. That intake was holding the vmp back. Had both blowers had the large intake there would have been even less difference between them. Those heat soak problems was directly caused by intercooler issues not the fact he was running that tvs. He never even attempted to dial in the setup he immediately switched to the big blower thinking its this end all be all blower and well....it makes alot of power but i think those gigantic blowers have more problems than anything this has been well known for years. The gen3r made well over 1200 rwhp on lunds built gt500 it can make plenty of power too and have a way more basass powerband overall. They arent heat magnets any more than a whipple is.

And this is 2.65 vs 3.0 not 3.8...i wouldnt be shocked at all if it outperforms that 3.0. Itll be every bit as fast if not faster watch and see.

@@midnight347 very doubtful and you do realize the intercooler sits right underneath the blower on the car that cools the blower making it a heat soak issue

Great to see these type comparisons videos, my choice would be the Whipple, but the VMP Odin is impressive setup on Stangmode 2018 GT, definitely will be interesting on the performance aspects between these two. Can't wait to see more of this.
