VMware NSX-T Fundamentals: High Availability routing topology

In this video I explain how I added high availability to my routing topology by adding a second NSX-T Edge Node and second VyOS Top of Rack routing appliance to my fully nested VMware homelab. The video covers the configuration of the Edge Nodes, setting up the Uplink Profiles, configuring BGP routing on the T0 and the VyOS appliances.

Using NSX 3.1.2/VyOS 1.1.4 and following this video very carefully I ran into an issue where the routes were not being properly advertised from VvOS to the Edge Nodes - once I set this formally in VyOS all is good with the world.

Thanks for the video... it's quite old, but I try - where are the IP addresses of T0/Edge nodes actually assigned? On Edge nodes VMs or T0 DR? I haven't noticed that you would pick edge node for IP address assignement, so I assume on T0. What's the point having 2 IPs (for NSX part) in each VLAN then? Wouldn't just 1 IP do the same? Thanks.

Hi Jeffrey, Thanks for great video. I have deployed NSX-T in lab environment and I run in to issue for TEP tunnel goes down, the moment I connect T1 router to T0. If I do not connect T0 router to T1 router bgp comes up with physical router, but the moment I connect T1 to T0 ,BGP also goes down to physical router. I would really appreciate that if you could provide some guidance to resolve this issue. Thanks Amit

Salam sir, thank you so much for knowledges. Here i want to ask, what is the nsx network setting in vm. Is it esxi-mgmt(vlan 10) and nested-esxi(vlan 4095) or there are the others? Thank you!

Great video Jeffrey! Question: why deploy two N-VDSs on the edge node vs one? Is this just a preference? I believe VMware's reference design calls for a single N-VDS from certain later versions and forward. I could be wrong though. Thanks again for posting this!

One nvds is for outside vlan connectivity and second for overlay connectivity
