You are right, he loves musical instruments and loves to experiment with his voice. When as a child, music was his outlet while being left alone most his childhood. He wrote hundreds of lyricless songs that he does not share with the public. So I would imagine he played a lot with his voice. There's a clip that shows his competitors/fans will give him unusual instruments or on shows that have them, and he picks it up almost instantly on the spot, which impressed them. Such genius in every aspect of music and performance.

So glad you like Hua Chenyu. I recommend a duet Hua did with Su Shiding called Nanping Evening Bells on a tv show where he has to create a new arrangement for a weak piece of music. This song was an old Chinese folk song. The result is incredible. The best harmonies ever.

First! Nice to see you reacting to this! His first musical instrument was the flute, but I know he can also make his voice sounds like an electric guitar in . He wrote the flute interlude in this song and wanted to play it himself but because he needs the instrument to come in before he finishes singing it wasn't going to work. In the Singer someone who got to be part of the audiences watching the singers sing live said that Hua Chenyu's voice live and not love is like the difference between 4D and 2D.

Hua constantly says he considers a singing voice is just like another musical instrument ,, so it’s great that you understand his music. This is not his song but he completely recomposed to make his version of “ Heaven”. By the way the first musical instrument he learned to play at very young age was the flute. He finished grade 10. Then he started learning the piano. He had played flute in one of his Mars concert .

I have always been thinking whenever I listened to Hua Chenyu's song that it's about time someone noticed that Hua Hua is using his voice like an instrument. To me he is like an electric guitar especially when he is singing upbeat songs like rock and rap. This is one of the many reason why his audiences are so captivated apart from his awesome stage presence. He is very good at connecting with his audiences and very dedicated doing so; with his voice, with his understanding and love for music. By the way, I have heard some people commenting that this particular youtube translator (Baby Bamboo) of Hua Hua's song is not able to deliver the meaning of the lyrics well enough. So you should maybe take note of that when you watch this video again. I am not 100% sure about the quality of the translation since I am not Chinese literate myself. I do appreciate that at least someone tried to translate it for the public's benefit.

I was not sure how Hua would perform such a well known symbolic Tengri song and win the music battle with his competitor when I was watching that episode of the show. The audiences are too familiar with the original Tengri version, to perform a well known classic like this is really risky, if you changed the song too much people may think you offended the classic, if you totally respected the original people will think you are boring and is not as perfect as the original singer did. This reminds me when he did the Nanping Night Bell performance with Su Shiding, the original is a very sweet folk love song, kinda classic which brings sweet memories to generations of people. Therefore a lot of audiences and fans think although Hua and Su’s performance is fabulous, how he rearranged that song is kinda hard to accept. But this time the “Heaven” seems well liked.

This is Tengger's earlier version which Hua Chen Yu would based his rearrangement on - kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5-rn62IgZx5e9k - rather than the Singer 2018 version, which you have reacted to and analysed. This version by Hua Chen Yu was performed in 2017, so it should make better sense to compare it against an older version by the composer Tengger.
